The holidays are upon us! We have some early days and closures coming up in the next two weeks. Feast your eyes! Davey is an absolute staff favorite here at FVH. He is floofy, cuddly, majestic and a true gentleman... except when the greenies come out. Those must be doled out immediately and often. We will shower Davey will all the treats and adoration he can tolerate! His wonderful human is even more smitten than we are and we love being partnered for all things Davey.

Cooper is one of the sweetest gems you could ever lock eyes with, and we love wrapping up our day with him and his fabulous human. This athletic adventure pup was just in for routine preventative care and a prescriptive amount of liver treats. We are very happy to deliver both!

FVH has a new family member! Our amazing LVT, Christine, has added another Icelandic Sheepdog to her pack: meet Riddari! This fluffy bundle of delight is thriving and confident thanks to his proactive humans, lots of positive reinforcement, and considerate exposure to new people, places and things! We are so excited to see him grow and get to enjoy all the puppy snuggles!

This tasty morsel is Chicken Biscuit and she's wearing her very stylish eye protection so that she can receive a therapeutic laser treatment following her spay! We love having a non-invasive treatment modality to help aid healing and reduce inflammation for a variety of concerns. We also love getting to cuddle cool cats and kittens like Chicken Biscuit!

When your mom brings you to work but it's for a dental cleaning! Sweet Ellie is much-loved by our dynamite LVT, Emma. While Ellie may not have been thrilled to have a dental visit, she loved the clean teeth and post-treatment cuddles with mom. We are all smitten!

Dash is one of those magical pups who decided to take finding the right family into his own paws. He was discovered on the streets of LA with some tail trauma but is now living the better-than-good life with a nub of a tail, an eye for treat pouches, and his forever family. This goodest boy is social, optimistic and brave. He charmed the scrubs off Dr. Godbey and her team and we are so happy that he's found the family and love he deserves. We are excited to have more opportunities to praise his perfection (and feed him yogurt) in the future!

What a treat to see sweet Arya this week! Dr. Estes and her team got to work with this gorgeous gal and her wonderful family. Arya is a fan of a less-is-more Fear Free approach and was happy to help Dr. Estes write her notes! We love when our patients can relax with our team and know that we are building positive associations for future care. The chance to run our fingers through this magnificent coat and bask in Arya's presence is just the icing on the cake.

Getting vaccinated doesn't need to be scary! This puppy is getting a high-value reward (whipped cream) and neck scratches during her vaccine. The whipped cream works as both a reward and a distraction. The neck scratches are also to distract from the sensation of being poked with a needle. Who says blood draws need to be stressful?! This was Lhotse's first visit with us since she was recently adopted and she started the visit off a little nervous. The team gave her plenty of time to acclimate to the exam room and took things slow--rewarding her with treats when she engaged. For her blood draw a team member kept her distracted with a high value treat, she hardly noticed that Technician Christine was drawing her blood! Our commitment to Fear Free means that we keep each pet's emotional as well as physical well-being in mind at all times. We recommend that a microchip be placed under your pet's skin to help ensure that they are rapidly returned to you if ever lost. This can be done at the time of spaying/neutering, or can be done at one of the early puppy/kitten visits in animals where neutering is going to be postponed. Our microchips are temperature sensing, that means no more need for rectal temperatures! We are able to simply scan the microchip-- as seen in this video--to obtain their temperature! #fearfreepets #fearfreehappyhomes
