Join us in welcoming Dr. Niko Baron, who will be joining our crew on Monday, 01/06!

Dr. Niko is originally from Denmark, where her family still resides. She first discovered her passion for animals while working on a dairy in Israel following high school, and further confirmed her passion while serving as a combat soldier in the K9 unit with her bomb sniffing dog, Kita.

Dr. Niko decided to move stateside to begin her education at Cleveland State University in 2015. She obtained her undergraduate degree in biology, in 2019. With her background in biology and passion for working with animals, she was set on her pursuit of veterinary medicine. She attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in May 2023.

During vet school, Dr. Niko decided she wanted to explore further West, during a break in school. After spending two weeks in Whatcom County, she fell in love with it and migrated to the area as soon as school was finished.

In Dr. Niko’s free time, she enjoys the great outdoors, audiobooks, and lifting weights at the gym. Her favorite thing to do is spending time with her partner Blake and their two dogs Dylan and Ellie.

It is with a lot of sadness that we announce Dr. Kelsey Lee-Gilson is leaving us to work in her home country of Canada. She wrote a short note that she would like us to share with all of you and we have pasted it below:

To my Dear Clients and Pets at Village,

It has been an honor and my utmost pleasure caring for your pets and families these last couple of years. My last day at Village Veterinary is November 3rd, 2024.

I am originally from Canada and have been commuting to Washington for the last four years. It has now come time for me to work in Canada and be closer to home and my family.

It is with a heavy heart that I leave the team at Village but I know you will remain in good hands. They continue to dedicate their time to animals in need with the greatest love and care.

Thank you for the opportunity to care for your fur babies and I hope to cross paths with you again,

Update**** Village is running at limited capacity this morning. We had smoke in the clinic and the fire department was unable to find a source, so we are back in the building. Thank you Bellingham Fire for getting here so quickly and keeping us safe! Please forgive us as we try to get back on track and make sure that there is not still a problem!

Village is closed today, Monday, September 2nd in observation of Labor Day. We will be open again tomorrow, at our regular time. We hope everyone has a restful day off!

Missing Cat!! Last seen between Puget St and 47th St in the Puget neighborhood. Neil has never been outside and his is frantic. He currently has a naked backside due to a skin condition. Please contact Village Veterinary Hospital at 360-647-1980 if you have seen Neil.

This is one of our littlest patients, who had surgery yesterday. Dr. VanWinkle removed a bump and the pet woke up safely, but just a tiny bit grumpy. Doesn't he look adorable in his fashionable sweater?
