Offering Ziggy to a new 🏡 after weaning. 2024 chestnut c**t. Lots of old school cow breeding that should excel at anything you throw at him. Sire ( Smokin Kingwood) has been on cattle, is a barrel $$ earner and producer, been shot off of, used as a lesson horse for all ages and has performed in the Headless Horseman at the Ohio History Center. Dam ( Smokin King Miss Zoe) has produced barrel and ranch performers. Ziggy will be weaned in August and will be available in September. He leads well, has be wormed several times and will come with registration papers. Discounted price if a down payment is made prior to weaning. Pm for more details.

RIP sweet Stewart. Your life was cut short and I hope your bucking and kicking up your heals in greener pastures. It’s been a super hard spring/summer. I’ve lost 3 babies and Diva. I’m devastated and at a total loss. Rethinking sooo much. I’m not looking for sympathy. Please pray for these innocent souls that were taken way too soon.

Listen.... this is a letter to the small breeder.

You may not have grown up with it.
You may not have been handed the family ranch and the family bloodlines... you can choose your own and that doesn't make you any less valid.
You may not have 50 broodmares and a production sale. That doesn't make you any less valid.
You may not start your own c**ts. Hell, you may not be capable of starting your own c**ts. That doesn't make you any less valid.
You might pick the off the wall stud, and breed it to the off the wall mare...and guess what? That doesn't make you any less valid.
There are a million incentives out there...and if you choose to breed to a stallion that isn't enrolled in any? That doesn't make you any less valid.

The Quarter Horse breed started as one of the most American things out there....a hodge podge of random s**t that WORKED. Quarter mile racers....and fast ones.
In the early days they match raced, roped, sorted, and showed THE SAME HORSE.
Versatility USED to be important to this breed... and to the small time breeder like myself, Versatility is the only thing keeping us afloat.
I don't keep mares I wouldn't ride, and I don't have stallions that aren't useful for more than breeding season. Ask me to saddle one of mine and do a job? I damn sure will. (Minus moon cause he's like 1000 years old and retired 😂).

My biggest role model in the breeding business is a small time breeder, someone with no fancy name....but a string of CONSISTENT horses that all look the same, ride the same, and win the same. They aren't selling 25k horses to every sucker that comes along... they are selling reasonably priced using horses to the same clients year in and year out. I hope someday my program can match that.

I really hate the part of this industry that looks down on people who aren't "somebody".... cause honestly... alot of the "somebody's" I've met, I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for... and they are the ones suckering people who don't know any better into high dollar cripples.

My humble opinion that really means nothing.

Took Smash Man (Smokin Smashed Flit) to the Wednesday jackpot at Crazy Woman Ranch tonight. Was his first run back since the Panty Raid and he and Ellyse Simpson ran their personal best. Can’t wait for the next one!!!

Could use some big prayers, good vibes and positive thoughts for Diva Dee. She lost a foal a week ago and currently at OSU with tetanus. They say she’s got a fighting chance since she’s still standing. Thank you Ellyse Simpson for finding the antidote. There’s a nation wide shortage and the vets at OSU found some in Colorado. Yes, it’ll be here tomorrow. But very grateful she’s getting it tonight.

Last but not least is this sweet boy, Stewart. He loves to give kisses. He’s by Smokin Kingwood x Smokin Mist of Luck.

Smash Man is a daddy!!!! Baby #3 came unexpectedly during the night. Bailey wasn’t due for a couple more weeks, so I didn’t check her and she spent the night outside. Everything is great and it’s a girl!!!!! More pics to come after work.
