Dog Training isn’t just about dog training…

New Board & Train ‘Raven’ wasn’t feeling too hot so, with her owner’s permission, we went to visit Dr. Moreland at Belmont Animal Hospital 🏥

Dr. Moreland squeezed us in right away and was able to help Raven get on the path to feeling her best self. After a few days of decompression and resting, Raven is ready to jump back in the training program!

A board & train (dog training in general) is never JUST about dog training… it’s about the dog’s overall well being;
• mental health
• diet
• exercise
• brain games
• confidence building
• proper decompression
• and constantly building your relationship with them.

A dog trainer’s job is NOT obedience/cranking out a robotic 🤖 creature. We are and should be your dog’s A D V O C A T E forever and always. We are here to help

I’m always so grateful to have owner’s who are open to helping their dogs. And good vets, too!

A huge thank you to for hosting Zuzu, Mabel, & I yesterday!

We had a wonderful time teaching their summer campers about dog safety ☀️

A few important take aways that would be great for ALL kids to be aware of:

🐕 how to tell if a dog is friendly (watch its body language!)
🐕 ALWAYS ask the owner if you can pet the pup
🐕 NEVER stick your hand in the dog’s face! They have amazing noses & can you smell you already
🐕 invite the dog to come to you; respect the space bubble 🫧
🐕 when petting a dog, pet in the ✨Friend Zone✨ which is: shoulders, back, ribcage! Not the head!

All the kids were awesome; the dogs worked very hard for pets and treats 😋

Our next Forum is finally here! Mark your calendars for September 14th, as we are so graciously hosted again by

As our alumni numbers have grown so much (yay!), we will have designated time slots for each level of training so everyone can have individual attention.

Each training level is welcome to stay and observe the following sessions as long as your PUP can handle it.

You all have TWO MONTHS to prepare and hone in on your training to prep yourselves and your pups. Be ready to come and show off new skills you have learned since graduating and the skills you have acquired through your hard work and practice.

It's been WAY too long and I am so excited to see everyone. Come ready to peruse the Greenhouse & brand new general store on site, too!

Letting out the biggest sigh of relief as I can finally announce that Sky has found a new forever home. I could never let our girl go for anyone less worthy but she has found the PERFECT family.

She is safe.
She is cared for.
She is loved.

HOW this amazing girl hasn’t been adopted, yet, I just don’t know!

“Dolly is a quick-witted cattle dog mix who is happy to sleep on your foot or jump off a dock with you. She is the perfect snuggle buddy and is always looking for the next adventure to accompany you on. Because of her ‘I want to go with you everywhere’ attitude and her off leash training, she would be the perfect companion for someone who is an active hiker our outdoors person. 

Dolly is free to a good home with vet check, home inspection, and lifetime support from Free Rein Dog Training!’

Free Rein Fam!

This is a CALL FOR HELP TO SAVE SKY 🥺

I trained Sky this past Winter and Spring. I am absolutely in love with her. She is one of my favorite dogs to come through my doors. If I had the space, I would have kept her.

After less than 2 months of being with her new family, Sky was returned from the adopter massively overweight, with eye infections, skin infections, rashes, allergies, and also a TUMOR!

She has now been diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer, taking over her leg. So much damage has been done and Sky, who has my heart and soul, deserves NONE of it.

The sweet girl has to have surgery to save her life and lots of medication to get her back on track.

Because it was an out of state adoption, the rescue cannot take her back so it all falls to her foster mom. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. The estimated cost of surgery, not including follow up visits and medication, is between $886-$1142.

If anyone could consider donating towards her cause, that would be incredible. Im not ready to give up on Sky, yet.

We have officially been in business for ONE WHOLE YEAR & it has been a wild ride. In my first year of business, I have had the honor of training 58 dogs & their humans 🥹

Abby & Kenzi graduated! From incessant barking, jumping, growling, starting little fights with each other, separation anxiety, sensitivity to phones ringing, arms being raised, standing up, etc. these girls had a lot of behavioral issues to be worked out. Their owners worked SO hard to help them through these issues and learn to give them proper guidance. Now, Charles is able to leash walk them both for the first time in their lives. So excited for Abby’s & Kenzi’s worlds to keep getting bigger and for Charles to have some walking companions!

Look who graduated!!

Sophie is a mature corgi who was making it awfully difficult to enjoy her! From incessant, NONSTOP, barking, to jumping, nipping, and impressive reactivity to other dogs, Sophie has blown us away with her progress. This little lady is now able to go into public spaces, meet new people and dogs, and has been been able to join a meetup group! She is also graduating as an client! She passed her off leash hike test with flying colors and her distance recall is stellar.

Congratulations to & .ramirez for all your hard work and dedication! It has made all the difference.

Little miss Lily needs a home! Kayla rescued Lily from the streets and got her up to date on shots and in good health, but they CANNOT KEEP HER AND SHELTERS ARE FULL! She is intact but up to date on all vaccines, so far seems to be good with other dogs and cats. She has a great temperament and is pretty, to boot. *I have not trained this dog but have met her and think she is a sweetheart!* message myself or for more information!

Dutch has officially graduated! 🥳

Dutch was rescued from death row in a shelter. He was so loved by his new family but was struggling with his fear of men, cars, cats, and other dogs. He is now a much calmer and more confident dog, thanks to his and his family’s hard work. He has come SO far, they are a match made in heaven! So glad you found an amazing dog and have given him an entirely new life. You are amazing and so is Dutch!

Introducing the first Free Rein Forum! Exclusively for Free Rein Alumni or approved current clients further along in their training. This will be a SAFE & SUPPORTIVE space for likeminded dog owners who want to build trust with their dog, while responsibly allowing them to play with other * trained * dogs. You will have the opportunity to connect with their owners and continue practicing with each other on your own! While pups are being reunited, it’s also a networking event for their humans!

Come join me for a group training class and pup play time. We will practice how to properly behave in a public setting with other dogs around. Afterwards, we will go inside one of the only dog-friendly coffee shops in Charlotte to order a cup of coffee, small bite, or pastry & sit calmly with our dogs in a group setting.

You guys remember Leon, the Pro Bono who was given a second chance by a sponsor to be trained and adopted??

I am so heart happy to announce he is now Scooby!! He passed his 30 day trial period in his placement and now has the sweetest family to call his own 🥹 with , her small dog, and cat! Scooby finally gets to belong somewhere and never has to be in a shelter ever again.

Congratulations on your forever home, Scooby, and on having the cutest fella join your family, Alyssa! Thank you for giving him a chance 🧡

Vader graduated & is back home KILLING IT! He did a special short program but already made it to Off Leash Status! His dog dad is doing an amazing job of maintaining all the things Vader learned & their confidence grows together more & more each day.

✅ no more jumping
✅ no more reactivity to dogs or squirrels
✅ no more demand barking
✅ no more food aggression
✅ no more leash pulling
✅ no more obsessive water drinking
✅ no more chewing on the walls or window moldings!!!

Vaders list of accomplishments goes on & on. What a great dog!
