This handsome fella spent his birthday with the crew tonight after eating something he shouldn't have 🫣
Unfortunately the concern was an esophageal foreign body after attempting to induce vomiting and taking some confirmatory xrays.
We sent them to one of the local 24 hour emergency and specialty clinics for further evaluation and removal of the object.
We hope they are able to help you so you can enjoy the rest of your birthday Harrison! It was a pleasure celebrating with you while you were with us 🥳

Caddie came in on Sunday experiencing some back pain. We were able to give her some medications in house to give her pain relief as well as some to go home to continue her healing journey.

We think the medications were kicking in by the time she left 😅 we're so happy to help you get some relief Caddie.

Maka'i is doing a very good job at his task of emotional support coworker today, and taking a much deserved break 😉

Fun fact: Maka'i belongs to Malia, one of our crew and he is trained to detect when she isn't feeling well.
He also won his breed (Belgian Tervuren) at the Westminster dog show in 2024, as well as numerous other shows throughout the year that he won! Way to go Maka'i!

Shelby came in today for some tummy troubles. After ruling out anything serious we were able to get her some GI friendly medications in house and to go home to help her feel better.
This beautiful girl was so sweet during everything, 10/10 the best girl!

🎄🐾 Meet George, the brave little Cava Poo! Just in time for the holidays, he had a little scuffle on Christmas and came home with a sore shoulder. After a visit to the vet, we discovered he has a hematoma! 😢💔

But don't worry, our tough guy is on the mend with some pain meds and plenty of cuddles. 🐶❤️ Here’s to a sp*edy recovery and more playful days ahead!

Diesel was the bravest guy tonight when he came in for a torn toe nail. This handsome fella was in pain, but we were able to give him a little something to take the edge off and get that pesky nail off to start the healing process.

Pet Parents – The holidays are upon us. Are you ready for the unexpected? Here’s a quick list to have in mind for the week ahead.
1. Check your regular veterinarian’s hours so you know when they’re around and when you’ll need find alternative care.
2. Know that UrgentVet is open 12PM to 8PM on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. We are located at: [address here]
3. Locate your nearest 24-hour emergency vet in case of a life-threatening condition.
4. If you’re boarding your pet, make sure the facility has the most updated contact and care information for your pet.
5. If you have guests staying with you, remind them to close doors and gates to keep pets safely inside. Put your contact info on your pet’s collar for an extra layer of caution. Finally, remind them of what pets can and can’t eat.

A little preparation now can help to make for a safe and happy time for all.

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

It's that time! Our first annual Christmas tree decorating contest is done and ready to be judged!
Our team members had one rule: you can only use things inside the clinic to decorate!
The creativity everyone had during this was amazing, you never know how creative you can be until you don't have a choice but to be 😅

To vote please go like your favorite tree on the individual pictures!
Tree 1 used: leash garland, blood tubes filled with cytology stain for ornaments l, gauze wrap star, pipette tips strung with suture.
Tree 2 used: vet wrap ornament balls as well as a tree skirt, strung cotton balls as snow, broken tongue depressors as icicles and a star and p**p bags as a present.
Tree 3 used: vet wrap garland, empty injection vials as ornaments, chemistry slides as ornaments, p*e pad tree skirt and tongue depressors as a star.

Halloween is tomorrow! 👻 Before the fun starts, let’s make sure your pets stay safe:
🍬 Hide the candy - Chocolate and sugar-free treats can be toxic, so keep them far from curious noses.
🕯️ Skip the candles - Battery-operated lights are a safer bet around wagging tails.
🚪 Calm the chaos - If your pet gets nervous with all the doorbell ringing, set them up in a quiet room with their favorite toy.
🦴 Keep costumes comfy - If your pet's not into dressing up, a festive collar works just as well!

Tate the cat got himself into quite a catch! 🐟

This adventurous kitty ran out of the house and came back with a fish hook stuck in his paw. His owner rushed him to UrgentVet, where we carefully removed the hook and made sure he was comfortable.

A bee tried to ruin Bentley’s walk, but we weren’t having it! 🐾 After limping into UrgentVet, we found a stinger lodged between his toes. We removed it, gave him a pain-relief injection, and now Bentley’s back to his playful self! 💙🐝
