Little Tate had a very adventurous morning today. He came to UrgentVet for the first time because of an ear infection, we were able to look at a cytology under the microscope to find out what exactly was wrong with his ear. We were able to determine the best medication for his ear based off the cytology results and hopefully he'll be feeling better soon!

He didn't leave without making a mark on the Belmont crew, they loved him so much! He was giving everyone kisses and loved all the attention he was getting.

Paisley came to visit us because she was having some tummy troubles. We got her some fluids, anti-emetics and probiotics and hopefully she'll feel better soon!

This petite girl stole all of our hearts! We couldn't get over how itsy-bitsy she was! We had to use a soda can for scale, can anyone guess how much (or rather how little) she weighed today?

We're here for all of your urgent needs this labor day weekend.

Tava came in for a broken toe nail, we were able to give some medication to help with pain and get the broken part off and bandaged for safety. Tava was such a good boy for everything and so sweet!

We are open today from 10am-8pm, tomorrow from 10am-8pm and Monday from 12pm-8pm for the holiday.

The ASPCA tell us that these are the reasons dogs bark.
• Territorial Barking: A response to intruders, be it people or animals.
• Alarm Barking: A response to specific sounds or sights.
• Attention-Seeking: To gain a reward or attention.
• Greeting: Much like a person’s “Hi,” a dog will bark when encountering a person, and it’s usually a relaxed, non-confrontational bark.
• Compulsive Barking: This may be for no apparent reason, but the dog gets agitated and may pace.
• Socially Facilitated: A response to another dog barking.
• Frustration-Induced: A response to confinement or separation.
You can calm a barking dog using strategies such as desensitization, use of trained commands, removal of the offending object, anti-stress devices, or boredom alleviation. It’s never a good idea to use harsh or intimidating tactics. Instead, it’s best to understand why your dog is barking and deploy a tactic to refocus their attention. If needed, hire a professional to lend a hand.

Miss Maple had a chicken chew toy and said "hmm I wonder if it tastes like chicken too?!"
Spoiler- it did not.
Fun fact- once we safely induced vomiting she produced her toy- all in one piece, and it still squeaked!

After some fluids, anti-emetics and lots of snuggles she was sent home happy and healthy!

Trappy came in not feeling the best. We were able to find out what was wrong and get him some medications that can make him feel better quick.

He got lots of cuddles from the crew who gushed over how cute he was.

Ares the Great Dane and Prometheus the Belgian Malinois both came in with ear infections. After running an ear cytology, we sent them home with the right medications to get those ears feeling better in no time! 💙

Did you know grapes can be toxic for dogs? Stella, a sweet Pomeranian, found this out the hard way. Thankfully, her pet parents acted fast and brought her to UrgentVet. We induced vomiting to safely get the grape out and kept her comfortable afterward. 💙

Gloria came in because she saw one of her mom's socks and thought "mm delicious"
After under the careful watch of the doctor we induced vomiting and produced a whole sock! After watching her a little after we sent her home safe and happy!

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

This sweet boy is Loki! He came in with some minor lacerations after getting into an argument with his brother at home. He was so patient while we clipped the area around his wounds and used a calming surgical srub to try to get the area as clean as possible. After he was all cleaned up, he was sent home with antibiotics, pain and anti inflammatory medications to help him recoery quickly, as well as some allergy medication for irritated skin we found during his exam. We hope you are feeling so much better Loki, and have been getting along better with your brother! Listen close for our teams' favorite music station! Meet Marcy! Our adorable bunny friend (with the cutest little nose!) came in for not feeling so great, but was sent home feeling much better after recieving an injection of pain medication, a prescription for stomach medication, and some subcutaneous fluids to help prevent dehydration while recovering. We wrap up our bunnies in blankets to keep them nice and calm to prevent them from getting scared and hurting themselves during treatment. We call this cute roll up a bunny burrito, and use it for our scaredy cats as well for fear free in hospital treatments!
