2018 Cutting bred mare. ”Candy” is training up very well. She’s a very personal and soft mare, responds well to light seat and leg cues and developing a very soft neck and balanced movement. She is a solid minded horse with a lot of grit and showing good cowsense. Very well bred mare with a lot of potential to go into cutting or sorting with continued training. Very solid start on this mare and a lot of confidence and willingness in her.

If you would like more information on Candy message us or call:

Cold weather is here! While animals are amazing at adapting, there are still things we need to do to ensure the health of the animals we have taken on to care for.
-Water. Please make sure to refill your horses water source twice daily, or to break the ice in their water trough twice daily if you don't have a tank heater. We break the ice then use a snow shovel to remove the floating ice so it won't freeze over right away. Horses drink more in the winter than the summer, and there are more colic cases in cold weather than summer due to lack of water available.
-Proper shelter. As horses can weather much of the elements, a shelter or at least a solid wind block can make all the difference, especially if there will be a cold rain.
-Blankets. Horses that are more sensitive to cues and leg pressure are that way because they tend to be literally thin skinned. This also means they get chilled faster and have to burn more calories to stay warm, which leads to loosing weight. Blanketing a thin skinned horse, an older one, or one that is a hard keeper will help their body retain heat and valuable calories needed for overall health.
Stay warm, if you travel take a blanket, warm boots, gloves, mittens and a warm hat, just in case you have a flat or a breakdown! ❤️

As hard as it may seem, 2017 has only 4 days left. As we look back over this last year we see how much we've grown and how far we've come in our training and horsemanship. And now approaching 2018 we are looking ahead, taking what we've learned from 2017, what worked and what didn't, and using that to set our goals for 2018. This helps us to focus on where we want to be, and plug into resources that will help us achieve our goals.
What about you? What successes have you accomplished in 2017, even something small is worth acknowledgment! What worked to help you achieve your goals with your horses, what didn't? What are your goals for 2018 and what will you use from 2017 to fuel your motivation to achieve those goals?
Just taking an hour to reflect and write these down will help launch you and your horsemanship into the new year!

Christmas is just around the corner and following that the New Year! Nows the time to get your name down for a spot to get your youngster started, polish up your seasoned horse, or put a handle on a new prospect! Spots are reserved on a first come first serve basis. Names are written on a list as we receive calls and as stalls open up the first person is contacted, if they wish to wait until the next opening we move to the next. We get covered up early spring so call and reserve your spot soon!

What a perfect opportunity to have some fun while working, a sled ride on Belting while lining the stalls 😄

This quote by Ray Hunt holds a lot. How do we honor those we are in relationships with, human and horse? Are we truly in it for relationship and to gain the trust and willingness of our equine and human friends, or are we just trying to make ourselves look good at the expense of our horses and friends? May we all give dignity and honor in all we do.

Murray Cutting Horses has now relocated to our own Facility. We are now located in Belton, KY, 10 miles south of Central City. We are very excited about this property and area as it's beauty and peace refresh us everyday, as well as being the most suitable property for training horses of all ages and disciplines. We are on 230 acres of combination pasture and woods, with creeks and streams running through all parts of the property, and our 140x140 arena is a definite plus. Come on out and see our new facility!

Video 6. "It's all about relationship." ~Adam Murray.
I think this has got to be my favorite video. Adam and Reckless have just finished their training on cattle and are now turning the cattle out. Reckless is calm and confident, you can see even she is pleased with herself and what they just did. She is calm and listening intently to Adam as they move around smoothly and efficiently. This is only possible because of the trust and respect these two have for each other, partners to accomplish what they couldn't do without the other. Both at peace to be in each other's company and proud of the work accomplished.
