🚨 March is known as a month of weather extremes and powerhouse storm systems. We experienced one of those storms on Wednesday, and there’s potential for another one at the end of next week.

Although it’s nearly ten days away, it aligns with a common pattern often seen this time of year: deep and strong areas of low pressure drawing moisture northward from the Gulf, coupled with clashing pools of warm spring air and cold winter air. The details remain unclear at this time, and they will ultimately determine whether we need to prepare for light rain or strong thunderstorms. Arthritis aches and migraine pains will likely increase during this time.

⛈️ Severe Weather Season Alert! ⛈️

Keep you and your pup safe this severe weather season!

Hey everyone, as we are gearing up for spring and severe weather please keep this in mind!

Please stay safe and weather-aware! If storms become severe in your area, it’s best to crate your dogs if possible. Scared pets may hide in unsafe places or refuse to come out, making it difficult—and potentially dangerous—to retrieve them if disaster strikes.

Let’s all stay prepared and keep ourselves and our furry family members safe! ❤️🐾

✅ Prepare a pet emergency kit – Food, water, meds, leash, and comfort items.

🏡 Bring pets inside – Don’t leave them out in the storm!

📍 Create a safe space – A quiet, secure area where they feel protected.

🔊 Watch for stress signals – Loud noises can be scary, so comfort them with a cozy spot and soothing words.

Ok, mother nature is about to throw the kitchen sink at us!!! So, here is what to expect tomorrow into Wednesday. There will be a line of storms that is expected to move across the area tomorrow morning impacting the morning rush. These storms will have the potential to be severe with damaging winds being the main threat. As we move into tomorrow afternoon a second round of thunderstorms will be possible with damaging winds, hail up to 1 inch, and a brief, isolated tornado all possible. Finally, as we get into Tuesday night cold air will come rushing into the area on very strong northwest winds gusting to 40 up to 70 mph consequently, we have high wind warnings and wind advisories out for the entire area tomorrow nigh into Wednesday. This cold air, will also change rain over to snow. Heavy amounts of snow are not expected however 1-3 inches will be possible across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas where blizzard conditions are expected. Further south and east snow less than an inch is forecast. In addition to the rain changing to snow, with temperatures falling quickly, rain may flash freeze on roadways creating a layer of ice under any snow accumulations. Snow will come to an end Wednesday morning however, the strong winds are expected to continue through the day Wednesday. Sorry, that was a lot but we got a little bit of everything!

🚨 PSA: Service Dogs Are Not Pets – Please Respect Them 🚨

This is not a joke or just another post.

This is a real situation that happened today to one of our clients during training.

When you see a service dog in public — whether fully trained or in training — please leave them alone! Interacting with them can put the handler at risk. These dogs are considered medical devices, just like a wheelchair is to someone who cannot walk.

Today, while training, an employee at a store confronted us rudely about what we were doing, we did clarify with the manager that we did infact have permission to do what we were doing. Later, the same employee went out of his way to track us down and corner us again, making unnecessary comments. He even loudly said, “Don’t bite me,” toward our well-behaved shepherd, who was simply standing beside me.

This unnecessary and inappropriate interaction caused my client to experience a medical episode— something that never should have happened if the employee had just read and respected the vest.While we were able to work through the episode as a training moment, it was entirely preventable.

The manager was located and notified of the 2nd situation and stated that the employee will be talked to and educated. I did state to the manager that if it continued we would have to take legal action as this interaction with the employee falls under harassment. She was completely understanding and agreed it was harassment.

💡Missouri Law Protects Service Dogs💡
In Missouri, harassing a service dog is a Class B misdemeanor. According to RSmo Section 209.202:

"Any person who harasses or chases a dog known to be a service dog is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor."

I always aim to educate first, but if harassment continues, I will not hesitate to take legal action. My priority is to protect my clients’ rights as service dog handlers.

⚠️ Bottom Line ⚠️
If you see a service dog in public, respect their role. Your actions could mean the difference between safety and a medical emergency.

When it comes to nutrition for dogs, we are super picky on what we give the dogs.

Over the years we have tried various brands of dog food only to run into Issues from itchy skin, loose stools to dogs not wanting to eat their food.

We had a close friend of ours as well as our local feed store recommend Inukshuk Professional Dog Food.

Troy at Pleasant Hill Pet & Livestock Center recommended per We the People Pets that we should mix the Inukshuk dog food with We The People Pets raw dog food packages. We decided to try the dogs on it.

Since putting the dogs on this mix we've been seeing great results from shiny coats, healthier stools, less stools, itching going away, the dogs just overall looking healthier! The picky eaters now are excited to get their food and love it!
