We are happy to say Bonsai was officially adopted today. Thank you Furry Kids Refuge for helping us make this happen. Jackson (on the right) was adopted from Furry Kids today to the same family. Isn't that amazing!?! Most importantly THANK YOU Paula and David for ALWAYS stepping up and taking the tough fosters. You are both true Angels.
Enjoy your new family, Bonsai and Jackson.

Look at Bonsai's face. Do you think he knows he's getting neutered tomorrow?

Late update on his elbows. Unfortunately the doc said there's really nothing that can be done to fix his elbows. Daily glucosamine and pain meds if needed is all we can really do. Good news is Bonsai can live a long happy life.
If you would like to make a donation for his vet care please contact Crest Animal Hospital at 816-763-1313 or through PayPal at

Meet Bonsai!

In the last week, he was surrendered by his breeder, transported to Kansas City, and is settling in with his foster family.

Bonsai is super shy so his fosters are taking things very easy, giving him space to decompress, and showing him the love and care he needs.

Tomorrow, Bonsai is going to see Dr. Lyle at Crest Animal Hospital. Dr. Lyle will give him a general health exam and start the evaluation process for his little elbows.

Hang tight, Bonsai. We got you!

Surprise! It’s a boy!

This little fella joined the ALB family this weekend. He is a young (less than a year old) Japanese Chin and he’s adorable. 🥰

Our new guy found himself in rescue because he is having issues with his elbows. We will be getting him evaluated for possible elbow displaysia.

Until then, he’s hanging out with a foster family. They are getting to know him and are working on a name. He’s very shy so they are taking things slowly and showering him with love.

Welcome to ALB little guy!

***Courtesy Post**** This is Hank. He is a neutered and vaccinated 2 year old male. He was adopted by a family last year. Hank is a sweet boy but has some resource guarding issues. He ended up biting a kid in his current home. If he is returned to his original rescue, he will be euthanized. The family is no longer comfortable having him around their children. Hank needs to be in a home with no small kids. Please share. Thank you.

Cricket is still pretty nervous, but you can tell she is starting to feel better. She’s a good eater and she seems like she wants to play with toys too. Just need to get her more out of her shell!

It’s been a while since we’ve pulled a dog into our rescue, but one of our foster parents was itching to have an extra 4 feet pattering around for a bit. It obviously wasn’t hard at all to come across one in need instantly. Welcome to a new start Cricket! This little girl found herself in a difficult situation. She was part of an accidental litter. Soon after she was born, her owners decided to move and couldn’t take any of their 4 dogs with them. This family was not educated on spay and neuter and also not on vetting their pets. As a result, this pup is infested with fleas, ticks, and especially hook worm. All of these combined have made her very weak and sick. She is spending a few days at the vet to gain her strength and be treated for multiple parasites. After she is stronger, she will need vaccines, spay, and a microchip. We share these stories not only in hopes to raise funds to continue to help these babies, but also to educate and remind you to educate others. Something so simple can prevent animals from suffering. Please consider donating, and please share Crickets post!

He's been found! Please share! Raymore, Mo Peculiar, Mo area. Please keep an eye out for this little one.

Have you heard the news?!
A new alliance has formed.
We are thrilled to say HSGKC is part of The Spay/Neuter Collaborative of KC. This collaborative has been formed so we can reach every corner of Kansas City in order to get your pets fixed…FOR FREE.
Here’s what you need to know:
🐶 The collaborative has 10 organizations — only 7 locations have the ability to provide spay/neuter services
🐱A joint website will be launched soon that will have the facilities offering spay/neuter services listed with scheduling capabilities — keep an eye out on our social media for that launch
🐶 Spaces are limited! We intend to offer several clinics throughout the year, but you will want to get on the website and schedule your pet as soon as it’s launched
🐱 YES — it’s FREE
🐶 Each location has its own capacity and will only be able to offer what they can manage. If a location is full, check the other locations because they might have open slots available
🐱 If you are interested in supporting this collaborative please reach out to organizations individually for more information.

We are needing financial help once again for one of our Odessa dogs. All 6 remaining dogs will be with us until the end of their lives. Unfortunately, finding homes for fearful dogs is extremely hard, and keeping them healthy while in our care is costly. Abby is scheduled for a dental on June 13th. Donations can be made directly to Crest Animal Hospital 816-763-1313 or through our PayPal.

💔💔Our hearts are broken. After much discussion, research, and another consult with our veterinarian, we made the gut-wrenching decision to let Sandman go. 🌈
As stated before, quality of life is of the upmost importance for all of our pups here at ALB. It was certainly not an easy decision. We are devastated. However, we are certain it was the right thing to do. He had declined very rapidly, and we knew putting him through surgery, chemo, radiation, etc. would not be the kind, humane choice for him at his advanced age.
Sandman had a wonderful life for the past 6 months after we got him out of the woods. He knew what it meant to be truly loved and cherished as part of a family that wanted only the best for him. He got good food, treats, car rides, soft blankies, belly rubs, snuggles, lots of kisses, and never left his mama's side.
He has left a huge hole in our hearts and we will miss him terribly. We are grateful for the time we had with him. We are grateful to have been able to rescue him in the first place. We owe gratitude to our ALB family who has always supported us and made our mission possible. We will continue on, as there are always going to be more pups that need us.
If you would like to donate in honor of Sandman, I'll drop our PayPal link below.

Guys, Sandman is having a rough week. Sunday night at 3 am, our boy found himself at Blue Pearl Emergency Vet with a fever of 106° 😳!!!
He was stabilized, and we transferred him over to his regular veterinarian for diagnostics and observation. Based on labs and x-rays, there is suspicion of possible liver cancer. 😥The next step is an ultrasound. He needs his ALB family to rally around him once more.
We were just shy of 2 months past heartworm treatment and were preparing for a happy update. He was becoming more comfortable with his family and even starting to go out for short walks. Unfortunately, life sometimes throws us curve balls.
After everything this sweet boy has endured, he deserves to have the chance to enjoy the time he has left. Quality of life is always our top priority at ALB. In order to give Sandman our best, we need your help and support.
After his visit to Blue Pearl and then being hospitalized since Monday morning, we have some pretty hefty bills to pay. We would be so grateful if you could spare a few dollars to help us meet our goal.

Can anyone foster Walter? If you can be a soft place to land for this guy while he’s going through heart worm treatment, please reach out to Imagine Furever Ranch - At Home Furever!

❤️

You guys - we HAVE to find WALTER a medical foster!

Walter took his second heart worm injection yesterday and it's taking its toll. We are desperate to find a quiet home for him to rest and recover in so we can have him ready to find his FURever home.

If you can't take Walter in, PLEASE share this with your network. And ask THEM to share it with THEIR network. We want to do all we can to get this guy well and ready for the good life that he so much deserves.

Contact Julia@ImagineFUReverRanch@gmail.com if you are interested in being a short-term foster for Walter while he finishes his heartworm treatment.

Thank you.

Hi everyone, meet Miss B! She is a 3 1/2 year old poodle/retriever mix and is looking for a new home.

We have limited information (she is not an ALB dog) but here is what we know…

- Miss B has some special health needs that are treated with medication.

- It would probably be best if she’s the only dog in the home but she may be able to live with another dog (testing and careful dog-to-dog intros would be a must).

If you would like more information about Miss B, please send us a direct message or email at [email protected] and we can put you in touch with the right folks.

The Rescue Project helps families and other rescues across the Kansas City area by donating dog and cat food to those in need. In fact they helped us out with food for our Odessa dogs.

For some families, the food they receive from The Rescue Project is the difference between being able to keep their pets and having to surrender them to shelters or rehome them.

Please help if you can!

🆘 LOW FOOD ALERT 🆘

We have been helping our community through outreach so well that our supply is showing it! We have handed out hundreds of pounds of food to pets in need and we now need your help to feed more bellies!

Our hearts are heavy as we share the sad news that ALB forever foster Monroe passed away.

Monroe came to us as a tiny puppy. Her breeder contacted us and asked if we could take a sick puppy and we agreed to do our best to help her. We took Monroe to MU to be evaluated and it turned out she had several very serious genetic issues.

After considering her treatment options, we made the choice to give Monroe the best quality of life possible for whatever time she had with us. Not going to lie, it was a gut-wrenching decision because we wanted her to be around as long as possible. However, the best decision for Monroe was to make her as happy as possible and not put her through major surgeries that had low chances of success.

Monroe was a very good girl and lived for three years knowing she was deeply loved. Her family misses her immensely but they have many good memories to keep close to their hearts. They understand what a privilege it is to care for pets, even when they aren’t with us for very long. Please send them comforting thoughts and prayers.

We love and miss you, Monroe! ❤️
