Thank you to all the folks who stopped by the Sofala Safaris booth at the Traditional Archers Expo in Kalamazoo, Michigan this past weekend.

And a special thanks to Steve Turay, Mike Yancey and Mike Nelson for all your support. Learned a lot about the history of bow hunting in America, survived the cold and now looking forward to the safari hunts starting in just a few months!

It was 2017 and a gemsbok turned broadside at "Landsalt" (for those who have hunted this spot). An "aardwolf" (part of the hyena family but smaller) walked right by which was quite an odd thing to see. The arrow zipped through the air like a dart and the gemsbok did not go very far at all. A few days later a kudu bull turned broadside and another dart of an arrow buried the broadhead right behind the shoulder. This was Mike Yancey's first trip to Sofala. It had always been very important for me to see those trophies in person at his home in Arkansas. I finally had the chance in December 2025. That particular hunt in 2017 was the beginning of big things for Sofala Safaris bow hunting. Quite an emotional moment to be there with Mike and Kristy, visiting, looking at all the trophies, and handing over that wood carved buffalo.

If Mike's schedule permits, he and Kristy may join Sofala Safaris in Kalamazoo, Michigan for the 2026 Traditional Archers Expo.

The hospitality of the South remains the absolute best! It was great to see so many folks and just not enough time to see more of our Sofala family.
Special thanks to LAN Farms for the visit and hunting the kids could experience. That reindeer whitetail is a hunt Louis jnr will remember for a long time!
