Time for the Baseline Personalities Updated for the Molly-Rip litter!
Please keep in mind that the following traits are based on observations made in a controlled environment. They may or may not change as they grow and have new experiences in different environments.
Males: currently the 2 black males are open for discussion
Lucky (black male): The beautiful blocky boy is a total ham! He is very enthusiastic and animated! You absolutely cannot resist smiling or laughing when he is up to his antics. Lucky tends to be a jump right in kind of boy and loves pretty much anything he can get in his mouth and carry around. He loves the wings, toys, soft bumpers equally. Lucky usually will jump right in when in a new place or experiencing a new obstacle. He is definitely a smart boy with problem solving tendencies. You can see him processing things and how to get what he wants. Lucky is also very affectionate and interactive with people. He has awesome eye contact and likes to automatically check in. Regarding his energy level, he is smack dab in the middle. Maybe a little on the higher side. I say that just because he does like to play hard in bursts. Lucky is the kind of puppy that likes to check in at the beginning of every adventure or play session and will then run off to play, investigate, cause mayhem…whatever. Lucky tends to take breaks and doesn’t have to be tired out to chill out and assess what is going on around him or settle in for some lovies. He definitely has a nice natural on/off already. This beautiful boy has so much potential and can go any direction! He would make an awesome hunter or hunt test dog, but also a great companion for an active family.
Smores (black male): Smores has always been a people focused puppy and loves being a part of everything that is going on. He is very interactive! Smores is very confident and curious. He tends to be more of a leader than a follower. Smores was one of the escape artists from the whelping box and would go well out of his way to find wherever the people were. He is just so happy that his tail just doesn’t stop wagging! Smores loves the wings, toys and soft bumpers. He tends to be a little show off and will strut around with whatever trophy he has obtained. He also will strut right on over to me and give me his trophies. Smores loves to get his cuddle time and definitely has strong natural on/off to him. He has outstanding eye contact and teamwork type of attitude. He really does try to connect with people. Smores definitely has all the energy and drive to play any type of game (hunting, hunt tests, SAR, SRS, etc) and still be an outstanding companion too! Smores is an incredible little boy and there is just something about him that makes him stand out.
Blaze (yellow male): This big beautiful, confident boy is a total lover. Blaze definitely has an affinity for people. He is the kind of puppy that will go off to do something and then automatically check back in on his own. He tends to be more on the respectful side and will sit and gaze at you rather than try to demand attention by jumping in your lap. Even with as much as he loves people, he will go off to play. When he does, sometimes he tries to act like a boss of his littermates. It makes me giggle how they shut that down pretty quick, and then he just moves on to something else. Blaze tends to be a very nice mix of jumping right in and occasionally think first. He seems to be lower in energy when compared to his littermates, but he still plays hard. He just doesn’t tend to last as long and takes many opportunities to check in. Blaze really enjoys playing with pretty much anything. He tends to gravitate toward soft toys or crinkle toys over the wings and bumpers. Blaze seems to be very observant of what is going on around him and will sit and just take it all in.
Patriot (yellow male): Mr. Patriot is another big beautiful boy. He is very similar to Blaze in how he loves people, but he does seem to have just a bit more drive and energy. Patriot is a confident boy and will go after anything he wants, but doesn’t seem to have a problem giving up his toys/wings when a sibling comes for them. He will vie a bit and then move on to something else. Patriot is one of the puppies that often surprises me by how he will be off doing something and the next minute sitting by me and looking at me. He checks in often and also tends to be a more respectful in how he asks for attention. Patriot is more of a jump right in kind of puppy and definitely has a curious side to him. He likes to investigate new places and things. He also tends to gravitate more toward the wings, but enjoys all types of toys. Patriot reminds me a lot of his mom Molly in how he seems to ask for things by looking at me. He goes out of his way to connect with people.
Females: All reserved
C.C. (yellow female): Oh, this little beauty is a heart string puller! Miss C.C. is very sweet, curious and affectionate. She seems to equally enjoy the wings, toys and soft bumpers. She is more on the relaxed side, but also has times where she will play pretty hard. She is one of the lower energy puppies of the litter, but still has plenty of s***k and sass! Miss C.C. tends to be more of a think first kind of girl and definitely has a problem-solving side to her. She likes to check in during play sessions/adventure walks, but almost always comes for my lap when she gets tired. Miss C.C. is a big snuggler and I will insist she goes to someone that will enjoy this lovie side to her! One-way she stands out from the rest of the puppies is the fact that she actually points! On occasion I will have puppies that naturally point, but it is not something I tend to see any puppy do consistently. Well, Miss C.C. is the first! She points her siblings, wings and toys! I have seen her point at least a dozen different times. She doesn’t hold it long. It is more like a pause, but I think it is absolutely adorable!
Rainbow (yellow female): Miss Rainbow is another little beauty that is so incredibly nice all the way around! She loves the wings and all types of toys! She is usually more of a think first kind of girl, but is starting to jump right in when faced with something new. Miss Rainbow is definitely a smart little girl and, on many occasions, has figured out ways to keep her wings or toys away from littermates. So yes, she has a tenacious side to her and problem-solving tendencies. She too has awesome eye contact and will often sit and just look at me when she wants attention. She generally is not a puppy that just pushes her way in for attention, but would come in on the side and politely ask. She hasn’t brought the wings all the way to me yet, but she gets them pretty close and will then sit and look at me. When I pick her up she tends to just melt in and enjoys a good cuddle session. I would say Rainbow is slightly higher on the energy scale than C.C., but definitely has a very nice on/off to her already. She is beautifully put together and I think she will be a little stunner as she matures.
Disco (black female): Miss Disco is another flat-out beauty that is so nice all the way around! She is very curious and absolutely loves everyone she meets (including kids). She is very interactive and confident. She loves all types of toys, wings and the small bumpers. She has been known to carry a toy with her when going into another room or on our adventure walks. So it is safe to say she has a very nice strong natural carry. Miss Disco definitely is a middle energy puppy. She plays hard in bursts, but doesn’t need to be tired to settle down. She has an awesome natural on/off to her already and is so incredibly sweet. She tends to be more of a jump right in kind of girl, but I have also seen her think first too. Miss Disco is extra lovey too! She will literally roll herself over for tummy rubs or just light massages to her legs even. She soaks up the loving and is very sweet in return. Miss Disco has so much potential! I can definitely see her as a wonderful hunting buddy and an outstanding family companion!
Galaxy (yellow female): Miss Galaxy is a super mellow, very sweet girl that just wants to cuddle most of the time. She will go off to play, but almost always comes back to my lap. She is very sweet and a consistent thinker when faced with something new. Sometimes I think she can be an overthinker. Molly was the same way as a puppy and ended up being phenomenal, so I am not worried about it. Miss Galaxy currently is not really into the wings, though I have gotten her to play with them with some encouragement. She does like to wrestle and follow her sister Miss Daisy around. This helps bring out her confidence. When Galaxy is with Daisy she tends to come more out of her shell and be more active. That is when she likes to explore and becomes more playful. When Miss Galaxy was born, Molly really was struggling with getting her out and I had to help pull her out. Galaxy was completely limp at birth. I had to work her a little bit to get her going (cleared her airway and gave puppy CPR). She quickly came too, but I have always kept a closer eye on her to just make sure she was making the same normal gains like everyone else. Because of this we developed a pretty special bond and for now, Miss Galaxy is going to be staying here.
Daisy (black female): Miss Daisy is hands down the highest energy puppy of the litter. She is a go-go-GO getter with a level of determination that makes her stand out. She was the first puppy to consistently climb out of the box and go out of her way to find me. When I say determined…I mean it. At 3 and a half weeks old she pushed open the door into my bathroom and proceeded to try to climb up the tub wall to get to me while I was in the shower. In the last few weeks, Daisy has made it very clear that her world revolves around me. She is very interactive and is consistently bringing things to me. She already has a big desire to please and goes bonkers when I tell her good girl. She is super affectionate and boy I wish I could bottle the energy just from her tail wagging. When I decided on Rip as the stud for Molly’s final litter, I knew I wanted to keep a female to continue Molly’s line with. My hope/plan is to put her into training. Once she is titled, she can come home and hopefully enter the breeding program one day. For now, I am going to enjoy her to the fullest and see what we can do together.
