Meet the Newest Member of the RK Equine Team!! Her name is Lily Girl. She is a 7yo Jenny that will protect our livestock and horses from the coyotes!! She comes to us with a proven track record against those pesky coyotes. She is extremely nice, loves to be rubbed on and is halter broke.

Here’s a good guide for Blanketing your Horses. Your Pasture Horses don’t need a blanket until it’s around 25° outside. Blanketing a horse above 25° will cause their winter coat growth to slow down and/or stop growing. Horses naturally like temps between 20-50°. So only Blanket your horses on those really cold nights when it gets below 25°. 💯🤠🐎

We just picked up 3- 275 gallon tanks that can hold Gas and Water!!

We need about $900 in Donations to Fill each tank!! That’s $2700 to take gas down to the hardest hit areas!!

We couldn’t find fuel for over 200 miles from the disaster area!! People in the hardest hit areas need gas for generators!! It’s the only way they can cook, get electricity and try to keep food from spoiling!!

I would say 80% of the people we met and talked to the last few days lost everything they own!!

First post we can get out!! No Cell Service!! People are begging us for Food, Gas, Tarps, Roofing Nails and Animal Feed!!

We are completely out as of 5pm today and about to head back to hopefully do it again!! We need your and the people on the Louisiana Coast need your help!!

Gas is #1 - Between the Power being out and everything destroyed, you are having to drive 150-200 miles just to find a gas station that has power and gas.

Hot Meals is #2 - We had several people telling us they had been eating canned ravioli and soup for days!!

Water is #3 - No one has running water. If you still have a toilet they are using the swamp water to flush them. No way to take showers or wash anything off.

80% of the people we met and talked to today lost everything.

We are looking to make another trip with Gas and Water!!

We have given out every last donation we had! We are headed home. Hopefully we can fill the trailer again and be able to return and continue again soon!

Hurricane Season has arrived. We currently have a cluster of storms near South America that is predicted to become a hurricane over the next week and head into the Gulf of Mexico. At this time tracking the storm is impossible but we do know it could effect Texas and/or Louisiana.

As with past hurricanes we are preparing now!! Donations of All Stock Sweet Feed, Dog Food, Cat Food and any other type of animal feed can be dropped off at the rescue or placed on “will call” at the Tractor Supply in Royse City, TX. Please let them know it’s for RK Equine Rescue of Texas.

Hurricane Laura Disaster Relief Trip. We made 2 trips from Dallas, TX to Lake Charles, LA with 6 tons of Horse, Cow, Goat, Dog and Cat Food on each trip.
