Maker the doodle came in for a deodorizing bath after a run in with a smelly creature 🦨

Fun fact about skunks, the odor they have is an oil that they can project onto anything they feel threatened by. So, the worst thing you can do is put water on it. That forces the oils down deeper into pores because we all know oil & water don't mix, and causes the odor to stick around longer. 🤢

I'm old school and the best solution I have found is a mixture of vinegar & dawn dish soap (definitely avoid the eyes with this concoction) add some baking soda on top. Scrub it into the affected area, let it soak for 5-10 minutes, THEN rinse! DO NOT add water before those steps!

It can take as long as a year sometimes after your dog has been skunked for the stench to go away completely. (Being more prominent when they are wet.) But this deodorizing cocktail I've used hasn't failed me to get the large "bulk" of the smell off yet 🤞🏼

Maker is now smelling more like himself after a fresh grooming. Hopefully airing the shed out will help with the aroma in here now. 😅🤣

🎈 Molly the doodle puppy is looking so grown after her coat change! 🎈

Did you know all dogs go through a coat change at around 1 year old?

Their adult coat starts growing in underneath their soft puppy fur, and can cause matting to build up quickly. That's why it's so important to get them into the grooming salon before their coat change.

Plus, it's always fun to have a puppy on the schedule 😉❤️
