The Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is at the forefront of generating awareness concerning the mistreatment and over-population of Livestock Guardian Breeds.

Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue is a 501c3 organization with a network of volunteers across the United States. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome unwanted, displaced, and neglected Great Pyrenees along with other Livestock Guardian dogs that are abandoned in high kill shelters throughout Texas. By placing them in caring and nurturing foster homes we are able to successfully adopt them to loving homes th

Friday Fun with a little March🏀 Madness, or Match-ness with GPPR. While teams are battling it out on the courts🏀, our floofs are trying to line up their best shots to go to their forever homes🏡! Some of our long-timers, like Bolt and Tarzan, are in OT, just trying to pull off their lifetime victories, ending up with loving families. Capturing the perfect shot of Boo is a challenge because every time you bend down to get a close-up of her striking green eyes, she rushes in to close the distance and snuggle up to you. At nearly four months old, Boo is a sweet and affectionate puppy who just wants to be by your side. She’s calm, loves cuddling, is learning leash manners, is crate-trained, and making great progress with potty training. Boo gets along well with small dogs, big dogs, and kids. She’s also a fan of her toys and is building her confidence, even around the resident chickens! Could little Boo be your perfect match? Boo is currently in Texas but can be transported to the PNW.

Needing a pup playmate for your dog🐶 or a canine companion while you work from home🏡? Then Atlas may just be your guy!
This energetic 18-month-old loves playing with his foster doggy sibling, but may be too much for some feline🐈 friends, so only dog saavy kitties for this boy! He loves to es**rt his humans around the house, in case he is needed at any time🙂.
Atlas had a difficult start, so he may be fearful in new situations. He is working on his leash skills and is not a fan of the crate. He sleeps😴 very nicely on a doggie bed in his foster's bedroom through the night 🌙. Atlas is currently being fostered in Southern Oregon and may be adopted within OR-WA. ZIRA 🌸 is an 11-month-old Pyr/Anatolian mix who loves people, playtime, and belly rubs. Rescued from a Texas shelter at 5 months old, she was briefly adopted but returned due to her communication struggles. 🌸Zira is sweet, playful, and energetic—she enjoys zoomies, playing with other dogs, and digging (so you must love her more than your yard!). She’s smart, food-motivated, and well-trained, being crate trained, potty trained, and walking well on a leash. Though she’s friendly with cats and most dogs, she can take time to warm up to new animals and will let you know with a growl if she’s uncomfortable. 🌸Zira would thrive with a calm, confident owner who understands her guardian instincts and can help her feel safe. She’s good with older kids but due to her size and playful nature, she’s better suited for sturdy children. 🩷Zira is available for adoption in Tacoma, WA, and can be transported within the OR-WA area.🩷

📣 Folks, we have a big need! One of our adopters is struggling and needs to find a new farm for her two LGDs! 🆘 We rescued Frazier from a bad situation in South Oregon with his siblings, known as the “Baker’s Dozen.” He’s almost 1 year old and becoming a true working dog, good with chicken, geese, cats and other dogs. He’s very protective so a quieter farm would be best (maybe not a lot of visitors in and out constantly). Their other LGD is Thaiya and although not one of our dogs, we would love for them to go together. Thaiya is a 14 month female old who is good with fowl, goats, cats and other dogs. She’ll need a spay and does best with her sport dog fence which can go with her. Older respectful children (or none) would be best. 🙏 Please share to your farm friends so we can find them a new gig to protect. They are both such good dogs and deserve the best. 💔. Our First Adoption Update of 2025: These two boys are starting the year headed to their forever homes🏠🏡!! Odin went to live with a Pyr brother, who also happens to be a GPPR alum! The only thing better than one GPPR alum is two!
Our only boy from the latest litter, Buddy, is headed to Washington to live with a Lab/Mastiff brother. We are so happy for these guys, but as you can see, adoptions are slow🦥! We need fosters and adopters to help more dogs. 📣 Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Our friends at Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue (Sacramento-Stockton and Bay Area) reached out for help sharing an 11 month old Pyr mix they have in their rescue. ❤️ Mia is just a baby who loves the outdoors even in the rain! She is housebroken, knows sit, wait and sleeps in a crate at night. She loves Kongs stuffed with peanut butter, stuffed animals, going for walks and rides in the car. She would prefer no cats, gets along with other dogs but doesn’t need a dog in the home. If she sounds like your girl, reach out here:

📣 Folks, remember sweet Katy? Katy was one of the puppies rescued from South OR last spring. She needed TPLO surgery and we were so fortunate that donated for that surgery. ❤️ Sadly, according to the vets it “didn’t work” and today she had to have her second surgery. 😞 The vet generously gave us a discount but we still need $3000! If you can even spare $5 we will chip away at the bill. This girl is so sweet, crossing paws she heals quickly and resumes regular play! Meet Adorable, Andy! This small boy was found abandoned in Texas, and luckily, a friend of GPPR was willing to foster🩵 him for us! He's between 6-8 weeks old, and we'll get him checked out and ready to be adopted in the coming weeks. Watch for updates here and at www.greatpyrsandpaws.org.

❤️ Friends, sad news here at heartquarters. Coralee has crossed the rainbow bridge. Four years ago in Feb our rescue participated in a rescue of dogs living in horrific conditions 💔 Coralee went to one of our fabulous fosters in TX then made her way up to her long term foster family in OR through our senior program. With a lot of loving care, confidence building, and in her surrounding safe environment, Miss Coralee thrived and had the best life. Tuesday her fosters rushed her to the vet for emergency surgery for bloat and after an overnight of monitoring in the ER, we decided to let her go as she was not responding. 😞💔 We want to thank her fosters for taking such good care of her, for those who donated supplies and sponsorship so we could make her last four years her best. Bolt knows the ancient art of feng shui; the idea of arranging objects in spaces to create harmony. True, most of Bolt's work thus far has involved moving all his blankets, beds, and toys🧸 into the middle of the kitchen, but his foster💙 is certain that he has a vision😂. This adorable 4 year old is happy🙂 to be in a foster💙 home🏡 in Washington after being in boarding in Texas. He has adjusted well, and his foster calls him "a hoot."
