If only all horses could be as smart and willing as this two year oldโฆHis first day being bridled up and over ground poles. He handled it like a champ! Because he is going to be a roping horse itโs important that he understand not to panic when there are things around his legs. This was his first time with ropes around his legs and he behaved like he had done it every day of his life. He is a pleasure to work with and I canโt wait to see his future with his owner

Today this sweet two year old amazed me. He had yesterday off (due to poor air quality) and picked up where we left off.
Yes, he is sweatyโฆthis is due to working on the line and ensuring he was mentally prepared to add another step.
Yes, I work on a loose leadโฆI want the horse to have the option to stay engaged and express where he may be feel the need to flee.
Yes, when he spooks at the Latino being pulled down I continued to shake it and make it move. He needed to learn that it wasnโt there to eat him.
He handled his first blanket, saddle, and Latino like he had done it every day since he was bornโฆand each day (as he allows) I will add more tools to his toolbox of life as he prepares for work.
Patience and communication go a long ways in this workโฆand the horses remind of it daily.
Some believe it is geneticsโฆsome believe it is ground workโฆI believe each horse is different and they will tell us when they are ready for the next step. Some horses are able to handle a quicker timelineโฆThis sweet two year old has never felt a girth before. This is our 5th day working together and he accepted the girth like he had it on every day since he was born. I love when they have a good kind, willing effort, and pleasing attitude. #equine #aqha #horsetraining #groundwork #lovemyjob #westernhorse #futureropehorse #fundamentals
Cowboy was scared of water and refused to pass throughโฆwith some patience, persistence, and proper encouragement he braved the scary water like a champ today!
A few days of standing water before we attempt and work through moving water.
Thank you to my client for trusting me to get his horse last this hurdle.
Information on the horse show for Saturday 6/26
I LOVE working the babies...even the giant ones. Dutch had his first day hooked up to both lines with ground driving. He did better than I thought and seemed to enjoy it :) This 2 year old is such a blast.

Bentley is ready for his โworkโ with his new wheels!
Thunder standing at the mounting block
Thunder is coming along nicely! He is handling it all and I am looking forward to his first ride next week.
With an animal that has been abused, they take extra time, care, and patience to ensure their new experiences are a positive one. Some of the most rewarding work I do is earning the trust of a horse that has been mistreated.
Emit Loping!
Emit and his 2nd time loping! This lazy boy even broke a sweat today! Hard work being a 4 year old!
Thunder is coming along nicely. Carrying his bridle quietly, softening to pressure, and enjoying his workouts! This boy is a quick learner and going to make a fantastic horse for a confident rider.
Emit, or โRiccoโ as we affectionately call him, had his 2nd big boy ride in the outdoor arena today. While he is very lazy he is learning that he must do the work. Very excited to see where he goes in the last 10 days of March.
Congratulations to Sarah in her winning ride of Trail at the 2nd Central district OHSET meet! Also a state qualifying run!
