Winter is here!!!!!
Snowballs collecting on your dog’s legs and paws is uncomfortable and prevents movement of your pup.
Help your pup by keeping their leg and paw hair trimmed short and or adding booties for their hikes.
Not all booties are created equal and we love the same ones mushers use on their sled dogs. They’re inexpensive, easy to wear for your dog and don’t restrict movement or traction.
Tips:
1. Google sled dog booties, there are a number of companies making these simple booties
2. Measure correctly, booties to bid won’t stay on
3. Order them in bright colors. They can slip off and having bright colors helps us see them in the snow
4. Order 6-8 booties, also helpful to have when your dog has a paw injury

Cheatgrass season is in full swing!

These were all pulled out if Elliot’s ears this afternoon. The left ear had the most and the right ear had 2.

Check your pups!
Be vigilant to new behavior and when in doubt bring them in to get checked.
We love our local vet, and were happy they took such good care of my boy

Like it or not, 💥fireworks are on the way! PLEASE help our overflowing shelters by taking some extra steps to make sure your pets don't run off or can be reunited if they do.

💥 UPDATE your microchip info (it's FREE even if it doesn't look like it!)
💥 UPDATE your pet tag or ADD a tag for quicker reuniting
💥 KEEP them INSIDE
💥 DON'T bring them to events!

Other tips for calming:
💥 MUSIC to drown out the sound
💥 MEDICATION for serious cases
💥 TIRE them out with exercise ahead (mental or physical)
💥 GIVE them something TO DO (Kongs, lick mats, puzzles)
💥 CLOSE windows and give them a safe place to chill

It's incredibly difficult to plan in neighborhoods, however here are planned events and where they're being held. Stay safe and keep those pets safely at home!!

La Pine: The Fireworks Show will be held in the meadow West of Highway 97, 3rd Street & Walker at 10 pm.

Redmond: Deschutes Fair & Expo Center just before sunset to enjoy Redmond’s annual fireworks display begins at dusk, or around 10 p.m.

Prineville: Starts at dark (around 9p) and can be seen from most locations in Prineville as they are let off from Ochoco Wayside State Park, also known as the viewpoint.

Bend: Pilot Butte at 10pm
