Around 2 months ago we bought a Roman style pizza pan from and it’s time to break it in! We started the dough this morning using some of Kadee’s sourdough starter as a poolish. We’re really excited to see how this turns out!

We had an amazing day yesterday with our friends! We snowshoed 6 miles to Paulina Lake and the falls. The weather was perfect and we stopped at the lodge for a cold beer at the mid point. On the trek back we even got to see some sledders with their pups! They had already gone 20 miles and the dogs we beyond excited to keep going!

Happy New Year! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends at and then did a 4 mile snowshoe today! Great way to start 2025!

We got home from visiting family in California for Christmas. My Grandmother has a beautiful orange tree that was LOADED with fruit. My initial thought was.. Let’s make some Orangecello! Stay tuned for a tasting very soon!

We did a 5 1/2 mile snowshoe with Oliver and Bailee yesterday. It was so beautiful out with all the new snow! And the boys looked quite snazzy and stayed warm with their snow suits!

I decided it was time to make a small batch of amaro. I love amaro for its complexity, bitterness and subtle sweetness. This is my first attempt and it has 22 different fruits, herbs and spices jammed into that mason jar!

It’ll rest for 30 days and then we’ll see how this turned out!

I made an Italian inspired salsa with fresh tomatoes, chopped Calabrian peppers, garlic, shallot, fresh basil & oregano and olive oil. This is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever made!

Kadee and I just finished shooting our last video for this run. We started on Monday and filmed 22 videos for the YT channel this week. Time for an adult beverage!

We’re trying a new cold fermented pizza dough recipe and a Sicilian pizza dough recipe that’s cold fermented as well. For both of them we’re using a poolish starter. We started the poolish yesterday and it is bubbly and happy!

Weekend birthday celebration continued with a hike up to Tumalo Falls. Not enough snow for the snowshoes but it was beautiful out! The boys were thrilled to have their first romp in the snow this winter!

Happy Halloween! This picture came up in one of my Facebook memories and thought it was worthwhile sharing. As you can tell Ginger was not a fan of any type of costume! If I remember correctly, as soon as we took her tutu off, she immediately went and pooped on my pillow!

Yesterday we did a 7 mile hike in the Caribou Wilderness near Lake Almanor and Chester, California. In 2021 the Dixie fire started and burned close to 1 million acres, but thankfully Chester was spared. We’ve never hiked through an area impacted by a fire so it was a somber hike realizing the small area we were in was part of 1 million acres of forest that is now dead. Thankfully we did see many areas where small sprouts of trees have sprung up. Nature and our forests have been around much longer than us and over time they will heal and live again.

Oliver & Bailee went on BIG hike today. Oliver has a slight overbite so when he’s REALLY tired his tongue slides out. 😛
