These babies: …..are you sure about that?
I can’t get over their little faces 😭😭😭
Finally able to take a guess at genders so I’ll be posting updated pictures with their names this weekend 🥰

I try not to pick favorites but these two are precious 🥹
We have a VM/VC sable point magpie like mama (hopefully we’ll see some pretty blue eyes once they open 💙)
and the one who’s really stollen my heart is this beautiful little VC/VM magpie with a mostly white face and darkly marked body. Slightly obsessed 🙈 (again hoping for some blue eyes and if they are it might have to stay 😅)
Loving all the other babies as well but there just something about these first two 🙈
Can’t tell genders yet but I’m checking daily because I’m excited to pick names for these babies 💙💙💙

Updating pictures, these three littles are officially 8 weeks old and ready for their forever home!🥰

The bunnies got a little thanksgiving feast themselves! Apples and bananas sprinkled with ground herbs, treat mix, and some probiotics to help ward off any upset tummies! Lola decided the whole plate needed to be for her then tried to steal Huckleberry’s treat 😅😂
I apologize for the screaming baby in the background, our little one is teething 😅

Due to space and some health reasons, I’m going to be downsizing how many buns we have. I’m going to be moving along all but one pair of my Netherlands, if you’re interested in these buns please reach out and let me know ❤️

The Netherland babies are growing amazingly! I’m so excited to see them as juniors and hopefully show them in March 😬

Here’s close ups of the babies!🥰 I’m so excited to see when their fur comes in! We definitely have some black magpies but looks like we might have some blues and maybe a lilac?? 🤞🏻 Both Aster and C**t have quite a few BEWs in their pedigrees so knowing what they might actually carry is above my head😅
At the moment it looks like we have 2 boys and 4 girls but obviously that can change as they grow 💕

In a surprising twist, Posey kindled before Aster. She built a beautiful nest, pulled plenty of fur, and had an easy delivery, she also cleaned her kits off so well that you could hardly tell they were just born.
Unfortunately it seems she had at least 3, most likely 4, peanuts. Peanuts are babies born with 2 copies of the dwarf gene. Your typical dwarf breeds have true dwarfs(1 copy of the dwarf gene), false dwarfs(no dwarf genes), and peanuts (2 copies) which are incompatible with life. Peanuts are easily spotted when compared to their “regular” siblings. Despite being very tiny, they often have bulbous heads, bulging eyes, tiny ears, and pinched hips. Leg deformities are possible due to the hips developing incorrectly. The legs often resemble more of a flipper than a limb. This is my first litter encountering an actual deformity.

So what does this mean for breeding the parents in the future? This litter confirms that both Posey and Ace are true dwarfs (each have 1 copy of the dwarf gene). Statistically, breeding two true dwarfs you would expect 25% of the litter to be false dwarfs, 50% true dwarfs, and 25% peanuts (anyone remember punnett squares from biology class 😜). This litter was extreamly unlucky unfortunately as 80% of this litter were peanuts. I will likely attempt one more litter with this pair and if they produce a majority of peanuts again, I’ll likely breed them to other partners.

This is the heartbreaking side to raising rabbits so rarely talked about. I’m so thankful Posey had an easy delivery and that she’ll have one healthy baby to raise. I’m also thankful to these little peanuts for teaching me more about our breeding rabbits and they will be kept warm and be loved until they pass ❤️‍🩹
Hoping Aster’s litter comes out with better luck ❤️‍🩹

Since We’ve had a lot of interest in our magpies, you guys should check this little boy out! He’s a rescue/foster Rabbit Ranch Rabbitry is taking care of. You guys should also go follow her page and keep an eye out for her sweet holland babies! 🥰

Aster is still holding her hostages. Her 31 day due date is today, but her mama always delivered early so I was going based on Wheezy’s history. Poor mama is so uncomfortable but hopefully will have her babies today so I can finally get some decent sleep 😅 she’s either got some big babies or a lot of them in there 😬

Beginning of a very long night, Aster is showing signs of being in labor! Poor mama is massive and while I’m hoping for a smooth delivery, I’m not taking any chances and am making sure I’m ready and available if her or her kits need me.
She’s all set up in our “maternity ward” aka the upstairs hutches in our main living area, so we’ll be able to keep a close eye on this first time mama. Stay tuned for new babies 🥰
I’m apologizing to her literally every 5 minutes, less than 8 months ago I was feeling her pain with my own baby 😅

If you didn’t see our story, sweet Aster is getting ready to welcome in babies of her own! Aster is our Heavy VM Sable Point magpie holland doe (say that 5 times fast 🤪) and was bred to C**t (aka Lops in the Woods Rhett) who is also Mischief and Mayhem’s sire!
These babies will be a second generation Mini Bunz litter as Aster was born and raised with us 🥰 I’m so excited to have more magpie babies, and I am watching her like a hawk after Mayhem’s eventful birth 😅. but for a first time mama she’s making a big beautiful nest ❤️

Tai was the last of her litter to be adopted and the longer I held onto her…the better looking she got 🙈 so she’s officially earned her spot with us!
I decided to change her name to Salem, she is a clean line baby but with her pedigree she’ll be able to help add some fun color possibilities to our hobby lines as well as being a potential show bunny💕

I had so much fun attending my first ARBA show this weekend at the Nebraska Tower on the Plains show (NTOP)! I did end up chickening out of showing anyone, but it was so much fun to spend the morning/afternoon talking rabbits with so many experienced breeders and beginners like myself ❤️ As a stay at home mom of 2 under 2 getting to talk to another adult is exciting, let alone talking about something I love so much! I’m hoping the next NTOP show in March I’ll have the courage to show some of our bunnies 😅
We did come home with some new additions that I’m excited to introduce, but I’m letting them get settled in in quarantine, but we’ve decided to name them Bluey and Bingo (my two year old might have had some influence on that).
Outside of bunnies, I am having some health issues so if I’m not as responsive to messages and comments I apologize, I’m hoping for some answers this week ❤️‍🩹
We did pick up a special girl a little while back, and I’ll include her picture for tax, but I saw on my Nextdoor app that someone had posted a mini plush lop kit for sale and I knew I had to sn**ch her up ❤️ I don’t know much about miss Gracie but she is the absolute sweetest baby and I’m hoping her and Topanga will be able to be buddies in the future 🥰

These littles aren’t currently available but I’m obsessed with them ❤️ we had family visit this weekend and they fell in love with our black otter boy so he will be staying in the family and I’m going to grow out our other two babies to see how they mature, but I have high hopes these littles will make exceptional show prospects!
Our bigger chestnut boy is Bear (Teddy Bear) because he’s a huge snuggle bug and gives non stop kisses when you hold him and his chestnut sister is Pika, since she reminds me so much of them when we spent time up in the mountains! I’m so so excited to see these little continue to grow 🥰
