It’s been an extremely bittersweet morning. Our sweet little himi buck Pocky has been on a decline for the past few days and we lost him sometime between 4am and 6am when I went to get a few hours rest. Thankfully our doe is still doing wonderfully and she’s being closely monitered as she regains weight.
On the bright side, when the kids and I got up for the day around 8, our newest holland doe Bubbles welcomed 7 beautiful little babies into the world. I’ll post pictures of them later today. ❤️‍🩹

What a day! So glad to have the whirlwind of our first show out of the way! Especially since yesterday i was told i had a ruptured ear drum 🙃 i just cant seem to recover feom anything before getting sick again. 🫠
No one won any awards but it was great to hear feedback from the judges on our good points and flaws! Diamond would have done really well if she’d stayed under the jr. weight 😭 judge said she was a very nice rabbit, just too heavy to show as a jr. so now I can’t wait to show her again! Officially hooked on showing 🥰 Huck went up against some himi mini rex in the AOV and the himi breeder had far more developed rabbits than Huck (our very first red) so he didn’t stand much of a chance type wise. 😅
We also picked up this pretty boy at the show! Sweet little broken blue otter baby 🥰 I’m OBSESSED with his head! He’s everything I’ve been looking for type wise so looks like I work with otters now 😅

If you can’t tell by the looks, Huckleberry was sick of me fussing over him tonight 😂
Miss Diamond and Spade are (supposed) to be shown tomorrow as well but of course Diamond decided sometime between last week when I trimmed nails and today when I went to touch them up to rip one of her nails (almost) completely off 😭
It’s also my first time showing my bunnies so the nerves are unreal tonight!!! Probably won’t get a wink of sleep 😂

On a positive note, Posey’s sweet little babies are doing great! Should have eyeballs any day now ❤️
These babies are a Posey x Wrangler cross! Little bittersweet as this is my last Wrangler litter, he went on to a new wonderful family last weekend to help them get started on their own mini rex project ❤️ don’t worry, we’re keeping his broken blue son and more than likely one of these littles!

Sorry for being MIA, but my mind and heart have been heavy these past two weeks. I’m so lucky to have had some amazing adopters welcome our babies into their homes, but we lost one of our babies after they went home. After caring for her myself when she passed and talking with my vet, we believe she passed from clostridium brought on by stress. To say I was heartbroken is a huge understatement and I dropped the ball in keeping her stress levels down prior to her going home.
After doing a ton of research on this bacterium, we will be vaccinating our whole herd and babies for it. I found there are many rabbitries struggling with “weaning enteritis” that seemed to disappear once they began vaccinating, which I’m hoping for the same results. It’s been a long time since we lost anyone, but quite a few of our babies seem to go through a struggling period during weaning that I chalked up to enteritis and provided supportive care and thankfully pulled them through it.
The second big hit came when we went to pick up some new bunnies I was extremely excited for. A 2.5+ hour drive later and we were met with extremely emaciated bunnies. Anyone who knows me knows I wasn’t leaving without them and the past few days have been all about providing supportive care and trying to make sure these little Himalayan bunnies make it. The little buck is in especially rough shape ❤️‍🩹
Good news with them is that I’ve finally gotten them both eating and drinking on their own and now the challenge of putting weight on them begins. They are the sweetest babies and I hope we’ve gotten them through the worst of it ❤️‍🩹
I’ll post a video in the comments showing how thin the buck is. I’m not familiar with this breed but I still feel like this is not okay even if they’re a leaner breed than what I’m used to. But just look at his sweet little face 🥺

Baby watch for Posey is officially over! Came to check on the buns this morning and found 6 beautiful and healthy little babies, our biggest mini rex litter yet! 🥰
Getting Puzzle brought up to the maternity hutch today as Topanga and Lola’s babies are officially graduating to the weaning pen! Our next due dates are around the 31st and will be magpie hollands 🥰

Anyone remember our sweetheart Cupid? I really played with holding him back but with the shift to magpies he really just doesn’t fit with my plans 😭
He did have a really nasty bout with weaning enteritis and it was very touch and go for awhile, but he’s back up to a healthy weight and is eating and drinking as normal now and has a clean bill of health ❤️ (thank god for probios, they’ve been a lifesaver this season).

We did it y’all! We got Spade over the 2lb minimum to show! 😅 all those extra oats paid off 😂 she’s such a gorgeous girl I hope she’ll keep growing so I can potentially show her as a senior!
Her sister Diamond is on the broody side but has a stunning coat. She’ll definitely be hanging around as a brood doe for us even jf she doesn’t show well ❤️
And speaking of stunning coats….can we just appreciate how gorgeous Huck’s coat is!? I can’t believe I almost let this boy go, this Rufus factor is significantly higher than his parents when I compared them side by side. He’s definitely sticking around as a future herd buck!!!
He definitely looks like he’s about to molt out his coat though 😅 please please don’t Huck 😬

Do you see what I see on miss Athena (formerly Pandora)? Looks like she’s actually a sable point magpie! Her little nose is starting to look a little toasted 🥰
Her mama was a late bloomer as well and her sable point color didnt really start coming in until she was well past 12 weeks old (wish I could remember exactly when 😅). Pictures are of Aster at roughly 12 weeks old and just the other day. Would you even think she was the same bunny? I wouldn’t if I hadn’t raised her! 🥰
Miss Athena has a wonderful family lined up (and a new bestie in Infinity) and will be heading home after they are back from spring break 🥰

Binx is a Daisy x Theo son and is definitely in his uglies but I’m so excited to continue watching him mature! He’ll bring in such wonderful type to our hollands 🖤
Annie is a Remi x Trigger daughter and my first grow out from that pair (I can’t believe it myself!) she is so much like her mama it cracks me up! C**t is out of a heavy Vienna marked harli so he will likely be her future boyfriend if she continues to mature well ❤️

Since our Holland boys got shown off the other day, figured the girls deserved some limelight as well ❤️
Remi, Daisy Mae, Aster, Puzzle, and our newest addition Bubbles! 🥰 (Remi needed two pictures so you could see her cute ears 🥰)
Everyone but Remi will help to build our magpie program and Remi and Trigger will be our harli Vienna pair🥰
Bubbles came to me already bred to a VM Chocolate chin buck so I’m hoping she takes and well have some outside blood for our lines 🤞🏻
I’ve also been working towards keeping our Vienna marked buns eyes as clear blue as possible (no marbling or purple hue) and with Remi, Trig, and Aster (has some very slight marbling) I couldn’t ask for better baby blues💙

Rabbitry Update
I’m sure with our recently posted buns it’s been obvious, and I briefly touched on it around the new year but here’s what breeds we’ll be working with and what you can expect from us moving forward.

Hollands: our main focus for our hollands moving forward will be on our magpies/sable magpies and some VM harlis (I refuse to let Trigger and Remi go lol). There will be occasional showable colors born I’m sure but our hollands are turning solely into hobby colors and working with colors and patterns that make me happy. I love hollands but showing them isnt something I feel like tackling while also working on showable mini rex. On the upside, the magpie litters we had earlier this year were a huge hit and I’m so excited to expand on that! Especially with the new additions I’ve brought in/am looking to bring in.
Binx will stay to help work towards improving type and there will be the occasional white ear born but it’s not something I’m going to put a lot of focus on at this time.

Mini Plush Lops: I’m getting a slow start on our MPLs and intend to work more on type than color projects for the foreseeable future, but am leaning into chocolate vienna marked. Any MPLs I let go will go with a spay/neuter contract and no pedigrees unless you’re an approved rabbitry. This breed is considered more of a ‘luxury’ breed and to avoid any backyard breeders with my rabbits I will follow a policy we used when I rescued and in our mini plush lop contract you will agree to not having sole ownership until proof of spay/neuter is presented when the rabbit hits an appropriate age and/or weight.

Netherland Dwarfs: I’m keeping one sole pair of my show line Netherlands and will have chestnut kits available sporadically, trying to focus around providing kits for 4H kiddos.

Mini Rex: our show line is currently working on rebuilding after losing my sweet Poppy girl. Colors are all over the place at the moment but once type is back my plan is to work on chocolate based showable mini rex.
And of course my reds. I currently have a LONG interest list for red kits. I’ve been lucky enough to find another local breeder who’s gotten buns from us in the past come into a broken red buck and I will be working with him to introduce new blood to both our lines and bring broken into my lines without jeopardizing the red coloration. Huckleberry will have his show debute (hopefully) at the March NTOP show and will remain to take over as herd buck for our new does that will be coming in.
Priority for available show quality kits will be to approved rabbitries working on improving reds and I don’t expect to have much availability for does this year, bucks and non quality kits will be listed as available for pet homes most likely with the same spay/neuter contract and no pedigree.

Rescues/Fosters: I always try to keep a few open cages/hutches available for buns born here that are being returned, but with the reduction in what I’m working with I’m hoping to have space to take on special needs/critical rescues and rescues needing immediate removal from a current situation as well. As a stay at home mom i have an opportunity to provide round the clock care most people dont have. I (sort of) took a long break from rescue but am hoping doing it on a smaller scale side by side with raising my own bunnies will help ward off the emotional fatigue that comes with it ❤️‍🩹
Rescue bunnies will have a longer quarantine period and be fully vetted as well as having a separate area from our breeding bunnies to avoid any illness from transmitting to our breeding bunnies and babies.
