๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ˜พ Your pet's boredom can cause more than just behavior problemsโ€”it can also lead to medical issues. Cats who lack environmental enrichment may develop feline idiopathic cystitis, a painful bladder inflammation that causes inappropriate urination.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ Did you know that most dogs and cats have some degree of dental disease by the age of three?

Dental disease can cause chronic pain and discomfort, leading to behavioral changes and a decreased quality of life for your pet.

Regular dental evaluations are crucial to detect dental disease early, before it progresses to cause serious issues.

After a proper dental procedure, many pet owners report seeing a remarkable difference in their pets' happiness and activity levels.

It's important to observe their entire body, not just one isolated part, to interpret their non-verbal messages accurately. Consider the context, including their environment and recent events, before drawing any conclusions.

Itโ€™s important to remember that no single body posture or gesture is universally โ€œgoodโ€ or โ€œbadโ€ when it comes to canine communication. Instead, itโ€™s best to look at the whole picture and evaluate the dogโ€™s behavior in context.

For example, a dogโ€™s raised hackles (the hair on their back) can indicate fear, aggression, or excitement, depending on the dogโ€™s overall posture and the situation. Similarly, a dog who is baring their teeth may be displaying aggression, or they may be smiling and playfully inviting interaction. Understanding the nuances of canine body language takes practice, but it can help you better communicate with your dog and keep them safe in different situations.

๐Ÿฆ  Did you know that many heartworms are infected with a bacteria called Wolbachia, which further contributes to the inflammatory response in dogs?

๐Ÿ˜ข When heartworms die, body pieces can lodge in the vasculature, obstructing blood flow to the lungs and causing scarring in the vessels supplying lung tissue.

Over time, this can lead to heart failure. Most dogs don't exhibit symptoms in the initial stages, but as the condition worsens, they may experience coughing, panting, exercise intolerance, and weight loss. ๐Ÿถ

Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your petโ€™s health care plan. If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team by calling , so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your petโ€™s lifestyle.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ Did you know that spaying your female pet can help prevent several serious health issues?

๐Ÿšซ Spaying eliminates the risk of ovarian or uterine cancer and uterine infections. Plus, it decreases the risk of mammary cancer, especially if performed before their first heat cycle.

๐Ÿ‘ Call 402-452-3585 to talk to your veterinarian about the benefits of spaying your furry friend.

05/07/2024

๐Ÿถ Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose in pets because they do not develop the classic bullseye rash seen in humans. In fact, many pets show no signs at all, or their signs are often vague and nonspecific, which sometimes results in an incorrect or delayed diagnosis.

Lyme disease testing (i.e., a blood test) is advised for pets with clinical signs that include fever, lethargy, appetite loss, swollen lymph nodes, intermittent lameness, and painful or swollen joints.

Protect your furry friend from this debilitating condition by contacting us at 402-452-3585 and asking about annual tick-borne disease testing. Stay informed and keep your pet healthy! ๐ŸฆŸ

๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿถ Spaying or neutering your pet can help prevent certain health issues and overpopulation.
