is considering an intern position for the right person. This is NOT a paid position currently but this could change. I currently have 4 barrel horses that need conditioning and one prospect. I need someone that has basic riding skills, a willing attitude and drive to learn. Message if you are interested.

Time to update my poor neglected business page😆 Things are gearing up for summer barrel racing and I'll be headed to reno in just a couple days to compete at the Xtreme Million race with . In the meantime, I've been giving Luna🌛 a little tune up for her owners. She was borderline dangerous to handle on the ground if you asked her to do something she did notnwant to do. Reinstall Respect, then work on her confidence (she was pretty defensive about her off side) and lots of loves for the right behavior and she's coming along great!

11 months ago was Valorie's first "competitive" barrel run. She was 5.370 seconds off the fast time. Less than a year later, and we can go to a salty race and hold our own, averaging about 1.84 seconds off the fast times so far. I rode her poorly yesterday and she still worked and landed in the 4D. No money, but not being the slowest is a win for our progress. 🦄❤️🐎

~COPIED~I’ve thought about this a lot recently, and the start of a new futurity year seemed like an opportune time to share… If your run is anything more than just a run, you’re starting at a disadvantage.
Let me explain. It’s harder to win when you’re trying to win. Period. There’s an entire science behind that and what happens to your muscles and brain when you’re trying to force something. I’m not going to go into details but I believe in your Google skills if you doubt me. But why I think competition becomes so supercharged emotionally is that people look to results and standings for validation. They want/need it to prove something… their hard work, talent, their horse’s talent, their program, and very dangerously… their worth. The horse is expected to not only perform but also carry it’s riders ego and agenda. Social media has made it very easy to recognize how much we look externally for validation. Something I admire about people I see consistently winning and navigating highs and lows is…it’s a job. And I don’t mean that by how many horses they ride, how much they’ve won, if they have outside horses, or if they have another career outside barrel racing. But rather competition is simply a non-emotional ex*****on of a skill they’ve practiced. That’s it. It’s just a run. It may go well and it may not, but either way they don’t see it as a reflection of their program or themselves. They are rooted in what and why they do what they do. They believe in it, even if it wasn’t their day. They have nothing more attached or at stake than the entry fee paid. Those are the people that consistently perform and execute.
Making it about more than just a run, that’s when things get dicey. I know these things because I am someone that has struggled with being very sensitive to approval and/or criticsm. Someone that has looked for a lot of external validation to feel good about my efforts. But age, motherhood, heartbreak and counseling has reprioritized a lot for me. I still look for validation and feedback but the sources have been strongly reevaluated. I care about God’s opinion, my own opinion and a VERY small core group of friends/family that share my value

6 yr old grade gelding stands about 14.1 hands tall and is beautiful bucksin with black mane and tail. Flashy little guy that will get you noticed. Had a late start in life no fault of his own. Has had about 15 rides and hasn’t offered anything naughty. Laid back guy that could be a great kids horse with some more time. He hauls, ties, hobble broke and been ground driving. Walk, trot, lope, stop just needs more time and wet saddle blankets. Asking ✌️🖐0️⃣0️⃣ obo thanks located in Benton City, WA

Occasionally I am lucky enough to have my son take a pause in his skateboarding to help assist me with c**ts that may be a bit rough around the edges. This little guy came with some pretty major trust issues, was very green and a complete restart. We have made some major progress and the "Burbank Bronco" will be ready to send home soon :-) Thanks Ira for the help❤❤🤠🐴

Some good pics of my 4 year old novice horse. Lolly working well after WALKING in the gate. I do believe I have gotten him past most of his gate issues. And two of my students, Audrey's roan mare is a finished horse from our training program and I patterned Josie's sorrel gelding earlier this spring. Oh, and we can't forget my sweet grandbaby on a pony I started under saddle 16+ years ago🤠🐎

05/20/2022

Working this c**t through some reactive behavior and fear issues. Although he has been lightly started, I felt he would do best starting from step one of my program. Fun fact, the horse I'm riding tonflaf him is my barely 4 year old who has only been under saddle since November.
