Courses with Horses @ Circle “C” Stable
Courses with Horses was developed through a partnership between Circle “C” Stable and Dr. Erica Gergely in 2018. Cindy Nimtz, owner of Circle C, and her long-time equine specialist, Autumn Pelkey, met and teamed up with Dr. Erica Gergely during a week-long EAGALA training the three were attending. The trio all hold individual certifications in equine-assisted learning (EAL) and equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) through the globally renowned organization, EAGALA.
Cindy has owned the breathtaking, lush 29-acre farmland since 2001. The property is an outdoor oasis and boasts nature in all its glory complete with hiking and riding trails, rolling hills, mature trees, a campfire pit, and green pastures. Over the years, Circle “C” Stable has grown and transformed from a full-service equestrian center to a unique education and training facility offering horse camps, educational groups for homeschoolers, corporate trainings, and customized individual and group programs designed for personal and professional growth. Circle “C” Stable has a reputation of excellence in Berrien County and Southwest Michigan.
Dr. Erica Gergely is a licensed clinical psychologist in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She holds a PhD in clinical psychology from Western Michigan University and two master’s degrees in clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Gergely was formerly the EAGALA Networking Coordinator for the state of Michigan, and currently serves on EAGALA’s Research Committee and the Scientific Review Board for Horses and Humans Research Foundation. She has worked as a traditional-office based therapist for many years with populations ranging across the lifespan (from young children to older adults) and is adept at treating a broad spectrum of diagnoses (from depression, to anxiety, to PTSD, OCD, and BPD). She is also the on-site counselor at Pfizer, the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing company, where she provides brief clinical intervention, management consultation, and corporate trainings. Dr. Gergely is known for her ability to synthesize her training in evidence-based treatment, with her knowledge of human behavior, research methodology, and overall wellness to meet the needs of her clients both in the office and in the arena.
Autumn is an avid horseback rider with 18 years of experience working with horses. She attended her first EAGALA training in 2010 and has been assisting Cindy with equine assisted learning activities and home schooling courses ever since. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is certified as an Equine Specialist through EAGALA.
