🥶🥶 TEMP DROP 🥶🥶

It’s on its way, sub 20 degree temps tonight in Northwest Arkansas. The good thing is, most cats are going to be fine in the freezing temps. Those that are weak or compromised in any way are the ones at risk. Those without food, the hungry, the sick, the injured and the small kittens or senior cats.

The tips we can give:

🐈 Put out your winter shelters if you were able to get one from us or have your own. Keeping the cats dry helps a lot. Try to face them against a wall or out of the direction of the wind. If your cats arent using it yet be patient. Cats are cautious and it may take a while to trust it. Don’t continue moving it this causes more suspicion.

🐈 Cats need extra food in this weather. Be generous with any and all food and don’t restrict. Wet food is best and even provides water they need to survive. Wet food has high water content.

🐈 If you have electricity near your shelter, or anywhere near outdoor cats whether you have shelters or not, heat lamps are the absolute best way to keep cats warm. These are the ones you buy at places like tractor supply and are used for chickens. It must be close enough to be effective but not too close to be dangerous.

🐈 Open garage doors slightly to let them in. The warmth of a garage even with the door cracked is a big difference especially if they have places to cuddle up inside.

🐈 Let them inside your house. Worried about your own indoor animals? As long as cats are isolated they don’t spread disease or fight. A small bathroom can work, any space at all with a door. Don’t allow them to share food bowls or litter boxes or have direct contact. If you worry about “under the door pawing” put a towel down under the door. Anything can be done temporarily.

🐈 Knock on your car hood before starting. Cats will find anything warm and car engines are a popular trend. Make sure they aren’t in yours before you take off.

🥶🥶 FOSTER NEEDED 🥶🥶

We are looking at 15 degree temps coming in this weekend. This sweet long haired lady has been hanging out in a Bella vista neighborhood for several months now. She goes from house to house asking for food and attention.

We would love to bring her indoors if we can find a foster home. All expenses and supplies are paid. She should be a fast adoption if her foster doesn’t keep her first. FYI she is not microchipped. Send us a a message if you think you might be able to help this beautiful kitty!
