It's been a great year! To just share a few of our successes, 2025 has seen almost a hundred petco adoptions, over 150 winter shelters made to keep cats warm in the cold, a wickedly successful Wicked Whiskers Fundraiser, a hoarding case that saved starving kittens in an abandoned house, and countless adoption affairs like at the Bentonville Square. We are so thankful for our communities support this year and every year.

We recently reached out to an adopter for an update on Kai, a cat found in the freezing cold one night by a farmer. How he’s doing now makes us so happy to hear.

🐾 Kai’s Story: From Mud to Motorcoach Trips

Late one rainy night, a farmer brought a small black-and-white kitten to Mew Cat Rescue. The kitten wasn’t feral, but he was in bad shape—shivering, soaked, and covered in mud and diarrhea.

One of our volunteers quickly cleaned him up and gave him a warm place to rest, but his condition was serious.

From there, he went into care with one of Mew’s fosters who did an incredible job caring for him and his health issues. The biggest challenge was that the poor little guy had uncontrollable bowels (hence the condition he was found in). He spent multiple days at the vet on fluids before he slowly began to recover.

In February, he was adopted by a wonderful family who had just lost their cat at almost 19 years old. Now named Kai, he’s the peacemaker in their family of four cats and a dog, and everyone absolutely loves him.

He now travels the country in their motorcoach with his best cat buddy Junior. Junior loves having Kai with him – they get all the attention!

From a storm to a life of adventure, his story is why we rescue. Help us meet our goal of raising $10,000 on GivingTuesday, so we can help create more happy endings like his.

On GivingTuesday, your donations make a huge impact on rescues like ours. Animal non-profits in Northwest Arkansas have been significantly impacted over the past few years due to changing dynamics in our region.

There has been an influx of animals from outside the area and state, which has affected the number of adoptions and the donations coming in. This threatens our local animal population and the help they so desperately need.

Help us continue our work saving the lives of local cats and supporting people in need. Your donations go toward critical vet care, supplies, microchipping, and programs like Mew Cares.

🌟 This GivingTuesday, help cats like Prescott find hope 💔

We were contacted about an urgent situation at a home in Choctaw, Arkansas. Even though Mew is three hours away, we jumped in a car and headed down to help rescue more than 15 cats from the property.

It was a “house of horrors” — the amount of dead cats found there was more than the cats who were still alive. These cats were left to starve, and their bodies were mangled. There were knives, blood-stained blankets, and cat bodies distorted into unnatural positions.

Prescott (who we named Takoda during the rescue) was malnourished, covered in filth, and smelled of extreme neglect. Every moment spoke of fear. At night, he hid and cried. He wouldn’t eat if anyone was nearby. He didn’t know what safety felt like.

Thanks to donors, Prescott received multiple baths, clean bedding, and the gentle patience of a foster who sat quietly in his room, letting him learn that not all humans bring harm.

Slowly, he began to trust. He ate in front of her. He groomed himself again. He let her pet him.

Then something beautiful happened—he became curious about her other cats. One cat began visiting, grooming him, and teaching him how to be a cat again. They played. They bonded. Prescott blossomed.

Four months later, the trembling, broken cat was gone. In his place was a playful, affectionate soul ready for a forever home.

Today, Prescott sleeps next to the family’s son and greets him with sweet meows. He loves lap time while he plays video games. Prescott ventures downstairs now—still cautious, but brave. He plays peekaboo at the bottom of the stairs and romps with his toys. He tries so hard to be brave, and he loves deeply.

Prescott’s transformation—from terror to trust—was possible because of YOU.

🐈🐈🐈 Ragdoll Mania Clarity 🐈🐈🐈

Apps are flowing in with interest on the available ragdolls. We ask for patience as we are a small team of Volunteers and it will take us a long while to get thru these. Plus it’s still a holiday weekend.

We want to set some expectations:

☑️ It is not first come first serve. We will take as many apps as we need on a cat and then cut it off. Then we choose the homes we think could be the best potentials and whittle it down. It is about the best home for the cat and being the advocate for the cat. At the end the foster makes the final decision.

☑️ Please be patient as we work through applications. Check email as well for communication.

☑️ We’ve spent thousands of dollars on these cats in weeks and it’s not over. The fees are higher but believe me when we say that even at $200-$300 we are losing money. We are in the negative long ago since we started the ragdoll saga.
