Do you remember Smokey? The brave orange boy pulled from a fire back in 2024? If you followed his story, you’ll be happy to know Smokey is looking for his forever home. 🆘 Critical Need 🆘

Tuesday night update: we are sad to report that Tres has went over the rainbow bridge.

She didn’t handle the pre anesthesia - and so they aborted surgery to remove the leg. When they did an echocardiogram they found significant heart disease. Her heart was enlarged and the right valve is leaking. On top of that we don’t know what was causing her abdomen to fill with fluid. She would not survive surgery to remove the leg. All vets, the best in our area at AESC emergency including the cardiologist, reviewed her case and agreed she would not survive surgery.

We hate these sad endings and it tears our insides out. We did all in our power to save her. We got the answers we needed with the echocardiogram though. She knew lots of love in her last few days and had a peaceful ending 😢😢🥹🥹.

This is the harsh reality of rescue. We deal with a lot of death and cruelty, of the innocent animals who don’t deserve it.

Yesterday a seriously injured cat (we are calling her Tres) showed up at a local citizens home. It had been shot multiple times with pellets. One of her legs was broken and in such bad condition that the bone was sticking out, and the leg just hanging.

She was taken to the ER and mostly stable other than being anemic and severely dehydrated. The clinic worked to prepare her for surgery to amputate her leg. However her condition has worsened with a low red blood cell count that countinues to decline. This makes surgery too risky due to severe blood loss. TAnimal Emergency and Specialty Center of Northwest Arkansason enough for surgery and survival.

Her bill estimates so far are at $5,000 minimum. Mew needs your help to save Tres! Please donate if you can or share to help us save this kitty. Even a few dollars adds up to make a difference 💕🐈‍⬛

💕 Meet Claude at Petco 💕

Favorite orange cat alert! Claude is a handsome young man waiting for his home at the Rogers Petco store.

Funny story- Claude was a bad kitty one day and ate a string. Luckily he pooped it out and didn’t need surgery. However his owners could not keep him and had to consider euthanasia when faced with surgery they could not afford. Claude is happy and healthy - with all the orange cat traits we love.

He is ready for his people to come get him! Maybe just keep the string out of sight 😆🧵

🎆 Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening for cats.

Here are 5 tips to keep our furballs safe and stress-free this New Year’s Eve:

✅ Create a cozy hideaway – A quiet room with their favorite bed and toys helps them feel secure.

✅ Close windows and doors – Loud noises can make cats panic and try to escape. Secure all windows, doors, and even pet doors to prevent accidental runaways. Draw curtains to block flashes of light that can add to their stress.

✅ Play calming sounds – Soft music or white noise can mask scary booms.

✅ Avoid outdoor exposure – Fireworks and unfamiliar activity can cause extreme stress or panic, leading cats to bolt and get lost. Keep them indoors where it’s safe and quiet.

✅ Check ID tags and microchips – Make sure your cat’s collar tag and microchip have your current phone number and address. If they get spooked and slip out, up-to-date info is the best chance for a safe return.
