Dharma and Astrid
Two girls working on some obedience and task work. Dharma sure does have a good nose! Astrid is young, but working on ignoring things.
Dharma doing diabetic alert training
We are starting to shape in an alert, and asking her to actually sniff the odor source, and showing her that a nose boop is not enough. #cheyennewyoming #goldenretriever #servicedog #Diabetes #DiabeticAlertDogs #diabetesmanagement #diabeticcare #t1d
How to make sure that you are properly correcting your dog. Don’t overdo it and don’t underdo it either. Watch this video for some tips. And as always, if you’re confused, contact a trainer.
Proper correction and what that means for your dog.
Are you correcting your dog properly? If you’re not doing it properly, you’re going to have a confused dog. Same thing if you’re not correcting the dog at all, they’re going to be confused when you are upset that they did the wrong thing. Here’s some information on how to do it properly.
🐾 Backyard Playtime: Are All the Dogs Having Fun? 🐾
Watching dogs play together is one of the best parts of being a dog parent! But how can you tell if every pup is truly enjoying the fun?
Check out this video of some backyard shenanigans! 🎥 Pay close attention to Hestia, the white dog. At first glance, it might seem like she’s getting picked on by the other dogs. But notice what happens when the other dogs move away—she follows them back into the play! 🐕💨
✨ Quick Tip: Dogs that aren’t enjoying play will often look for opportunities to retreat and create space. If you see a dog moving away and avoiding interaction, it’s a good sign they’re not having fun and may need a break.
Playful dogs like Hestia may stick with the group even if the play looks a little rough—they’re still having a blast! 🎉 Knowing these subtle cues can help ensure all the pups in your pack are safe and happy.
💬 Does your dog have a play buddy they love? Share a story or a photo in the comments—we’d love to see your pups in action! 🐾❤️

Libby is happy to check my coffee order and make sure it's non-dairy.
In this video, you’ll see multiple dogs displaying different body language and positioning while practicing the place command. Remember, ALL of these are acceptable for the place command! We approach the place command as we would a crate—treating their designated spot as a safe space for rest and relaxation where they shouldn’t be disturbed. It’s important that the dog stays calm and within the boundaries of the bed or mat. Behaviors such as getting off the bed, barking, continuous whining, or excessive vocalizing are not acceptable. However, it’s perfectly fine if the dog stands up, shifts positions, chews on bones, or plays with toys. These actions are natural and don’t disrupt the calming purpose of the place command. #cheyennedogtraining #basicobediencetraining #affordabledogtraining #dogtraining #buildingconfidence

Nyla update progress update!
Nyla’s confidence has really taken off lately! As we work on recalls with a short leash, she’s showing a lot more assurance in her movements and responses. Her hesitation is starting to fade, and she’s beginning to approach each task with more eagerness and independence. It’s clear that she’s becoming more comfortable with each session, and this boost in confidence is allowing her to progress much faster. I’m looking forward to seeing her continue to grow and tackle new challenges with this newfound self-assurance! #DogTraining #progressnotperfection #buildingconfidence #affordabledogtraining #basicobediencetraining #cheyennewyoming
“Progress, no matter the pace! 🐾 Nyla came to us as a flight risk, full of anxiety, but step by step, we’re building her confidence. Here she is working on long-line recall – slow and steady! Every small win brings her closer to becoming a calmer, more secure pup. #BoardAndTrain #ProgressNotPerfection #BuildingConfidence”
