Prince needs a home! His owner passed away a few months ago. At first Prince had a snotty nose, but he is doing great with daily nose drops. He lives to sit on any open lap! At 13 years old, he is pretty chill and would likely become friends with other pets after a slow introduction (he used to live with 8 other cats). His favorite food is French fries!

Did you know that puppies are born with intestinal parasites? Pregnancy stimulates encysted worms in the mother to grow and pass through the placenta to her offspring. Both puppies and kittens are infected with hookworms and roundworms through the milk they drink while nursing. These microscopic parasite eggs can survive in the soil outside for weeks to years after they are shed in the pets' f***s. The life cycle continues when another animal explores the ground with their mouth or licks their feet after walking through contaminated soil.

VETERINARIAN and HOSPITAL STAFF SHORTAGE!

Nearly 41,000 additional veterinarians will be needed to meet the needs of companion animal healthcare by 2030.

Even with the new veterinary graduates expected over the next 10 years, a shortage of nearly 15,000 veterinarians will likely still exist by 2030.

It would take more than 30 years of graduates to meet the 10-year industry need for credentialed veterinary technicians.

Please be understanding with us at Sandstone Animal Hospital. We are accepting new clients on a day-by-day basis as availability allows. Our current clients have priority. Saturday hours are still a struggle since they lead to over-time. We are looking for another receptionist and an assistant with veterinary experience.

Sandstone Animal Hospital is back to our regular business hours today. Wed. & Fri. 8 am to 5 pm, Mon., Tues., & Thurs. 8 am to 6 pm. Sat. July 15 from 9 am to 1 pm.

Our latest rescue, Brad, wants to remind you that now is the time to call for any calming products your pet may need for the 4th of July. The office will be open 8 am to 12:30 pm on Monday July 3 for medication pick ups. There will not be a doctor here Monday to approve new prescriptions. We are closed on Tuesday. Medvet can be reached at 216-362-6000 in case of emergency.
