Effective December 31, 2022; Sheepdog Boarding and Gifts will close due to ongoing medical reasons. We are extremally thankful for the support over the past year of the community and we will dearly miss all the animals.

In May, we took in a set of dogs for a pro-bono extended boarding while their veteran dad required medical treatment. Unfortunately, his treatment is more complicated than thought and because these dogs mean the world to him he feels it would be best for all to find them new homes. We wish him the best and are committed to finding great homes for the dogs.
Daisy and Rudy are not bonded, so can be adopted separately. Both are up to date on vaccines, house and crate trained, ride well in a car, leash trained, and will do anything for a treat!
Daisy is a 2-year-old spayed, tan English Mastiff and is a giant cuddle bug! She can be timid at first but once she knows you, she will rub and lean on you and just wants to be loved! She listens well and loves to be near her person. Daisy is still a giant pup. She likes to get the zoomies and run around before she comes up to you for rubs, cuddles, and a nap. Daisy is not recommended in a home with cats (she seems very scared of them). Daisy has lived with other dogs and has been around children as young as 10 years old and does great, but she does need to be introduced and become comfortable with everyone.
Rudy is a 4-year-old neutered Black Labrador Retriever that is very lovable and enjoys attention. He is very calm but loves to play at the same time. He is friendly with other animals and seems fine with cats. Overall, Rudy just goes with the flow and enjoys about anything. His dad says Rudy loves the water! Rudy has lived with other animals and has been around children as young as 10 years old and does great. He is very smart and listens very well.

We had a little storm damage this evening, but nothing where any animals were secured. They all got some extra treats and pets when it passed!

It has been another great weekend and a kennel full of happy dogs being protected from the scary fireworks, but these fireworks represent our freedom! Happy Independence Day everyone!

It has been a great extended weekend with many dogs and cats in and out so their people can travel. But, we also want to honor and remember those who have sacrificed for us so we could enjoy this beautiful day.

We could not be more excited to introduce everyone to the newest member of our family!

Presley was one of the three Shepherds we took in back in early December. They all three went into foster together. Her foster parents immediately recognized how smart and gentle she was. She acts like a previous FFLR rescued dog named Spirit, who became a police K9 and unfortunately passed away from cancer in 2020. Presley has many of the same characteristics, so her foster parents quickly marked her as a 'foster fail' and adopted her. Presley is now 75% complete her training as a service dog! Presley now joins a previous FFLR foster fail from March 2019 named Re*****on. The two of them love to play and run around and are even good with all of the cats! We could not be more excited to see her progress and know she has an amazing home, tons of attention, and a job to help out!

Do you remember our ‘star’ Brownie, the Belgian Malinois mix? We have some amazing news! She was given the opportunity to join Battle Ridge K9. Battle Ridge K9 trains special dogs like Brownie. We are so excited for what opportunities this will open for Brownie! We want to thank Mike for making this happen for this beautiful girl. Mike specializes in Shepherds and Mals, so we are confident he can find the right opportunity for her. We could not be more excited for her and her new adventure! Special thanks to Sheepdog Boarding and Gifts for keeping her and then transporting her close to Charleston, WV! We are excited to get updates as she progresses to see what she becomes.

We are so excited to help out with this beautiful girl! She is such a sweetheart but needs her perfect home.

Fun Fact, the new movie DOG that is hitting theaters is actually played by three different Belgian Malinois and not just one. Friends fur Life Rescue has a Star of our own “Brownie”. We agree with the posts saying “know the breed”. She is not for everyone, but there is a great family out there that is perfect for her, and we are dedicated to track them down. Brownie is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois mix. She is typical of her breed, loves to play, needs plenty of exercise, and a person to please. The mix part of her makes her a little calmer than a purebred Mal but she is very intelligent and loyal like the breed. Brownie needs to go to a home without small animals or cats. She would also do best as an only dog, as she wants a human companion to please. She is very food motivated, which means she will be extremely easy to finish out her training. Brownie knows basic commands such as sit and stay. She also loves to catch treats when you throw them at her, the higher the better! Brownie needs an owner who is familiar with the breed and understands that she likes to be independent. Brownie is spayed, and up to date on all of her shots.
Belgian Malinois are mostly trained for police or military use. This requires a special type of intelligence in dogs, and we are looking for the perfect home that can give Brownie a mix of activity, discipline, and tasks. If you are a Mal person, check out this cutie that is up for adoption!

This gorgeous girl is Brownie! She is a 4 year old Belgian malinois mix. She loves people and loves to play and is typical of her breed. She is food motivated and loves her treats! She absolutely LOVES the snow and will catch snowballs and get the zoomies when she sees it. Also typical of her breed, she had a high prey drive so she needs to go to a home without cats or other small animals. She's can be dog selective and would do best with a calm dog or an only dog. Brownie needs a owner who is familiar with the breed and understands that she likes to be independent. Brownie is always happy to see you, she is recently spayed and is up to date on all of her shots. She is ready to go to her furever home where she can be lazy and get all the love and attention she needs!

We were able to help fullfil some Christmas wishes to some service members in Germany. Some little handmade items just to brighten their day. Christmas away from home can be hard and we just hope that these small gifts helped!

We are beyond pleased to help FFLR out with these three, they are getting their vetting and will be up for adoption soon!

After taking a much needed break from intake due to burnout...this past weekend we were made aware of a shepherd in urgent need of rescue because her dad is no longer able to care for her due to medical issues of his own. One shepherd turned into three. While we weren't prepared to take 3, once there, we couldn't turn them away. They're temporarily being housed with with one set of fosters while receiving initial vetting. We'll soon be looking for other fosters or adopters for these guys!
Bear is a white shepherd who is approximately 12 years old. This old guy is a sweetheart but it's obvious he's experiencing joint pain so he's been started on arthritis medication. Happy to report his bloodwork looks good!
Presley is a 6 year old German Shepherd. She's being treated for a leg wound and will be spayed and brought up to date with vaccines in the near future. She is super sweet and loves attention!
Brownie is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois and Shepherd mix. She is shy and very sweet. She will start vetting later this week and also be spayed and brought up to date with vaccines in the near future!
All three of these guys are happy, treat motivated, and enjoying their temporary provisions, while we continue to learn more about their personalities! Stay tuned for more info on these 3 that have stole our hearts!

November 30th is . Just like previous years donations made starting at 8am are eligible for a matching funds! We hope you'll consider making a donation to Friends Fur Life Rescue to help dogs and cats such as the kitties pictured here, Squid and Marina.

Squid and Marina came from a colony of ferals. Both were born with congenital eye issues, likely scarring from infection in the womb. As well one of Squid's eyes was severely underdeveloped and the other had entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow inward. Both were treated with antibiotics early on, clearing the infection and giving them some limited sight! Squid has had 2 eye surgeries, one to remove the underdeveloped eye and another to correct the entropion. These amazing kitties are so incredibly sweet and loving and brave, not letting their limited sight get in the way of making friends and playing! Squid gets his latest stitches removed this week and they'll be up for adoption! They will only be adopted as a bonded pair.

Here at Sheepdog Boarding and Gifts we have been busy with a kennel full all day, but we do want to take the time to be thankful for what we have and those who could not be home to spend time with family. Remember to take care of each other and make sure you only feed your four legged friends appropriate leftovers, not everything we like is healthy for them!!

We are so in love with these precious girls! If you are looking for two extremely sweet and cuddly girls, Razzle and Maggie are the sweetest! They are super laid back but also enjoy playing together. Maggie is a beagle and Razzle’s mom. Razzle is a Border Collie/beagle mix. Both ladies are so petite! They are great on car rides and walks! They love dogs, cats, kids, and everyone they meet! Maggie is 100% housebroken in their foster home and Razzle is almost there! They would be perfect companions for anyone that is looking for a pair of precious girls to pack up and take everywhere! We were originally told these girls were around 8 and 10 but Morgan County Animal Control and our vet thinks they are much younger. They have spent their lives outside in dog boxes so we want the rest of their lives to be amazing together!

Remember our cute Tuna who had surgery to remove his eye? He is now about three months old, at a healthy weight, and has been scheduled for the rest of his vetting. His foster says that he is a typical kitten and seems to have no issues navigating after his surgery, his hair has almost grown back to cover everywhere he had to be shaved! We want to thank everyone for supporting us! These little ones may be expensive and time consuming to nurse back to health, but they are the reasons we do what we do! Watching them thrive brings us so much joy! ❤️ A BIG THANK YOU to fosters Angie and Jimmy for getting this sweet boy healthy!

This is the reason we donate proceeds to FFLR. There are so many like this that need help.

We were finally able to bring sweet Tuna into foster after his eye removal and over a week of recovery. He has had quite a rough start but thanks to the great care at Valley ER and Longmeadow in Hagerstown he is now thriving! Thanks to everyone that donated to his care!
