It probably sounds silly to most, but through Pezzy I’ve become one of the top global devil fish dudes (I don’t like calling myself an expert in anything). The devil fish is a massive environmental and economic problem in ~15 countries around the world, affecting millions of folks that depend on fishing as their primary source of income.
Thanks to YouTube and social media, we get lots of inbounds from around the world asking us for help. At this point I think I’ve talked to folks on every continent except Antarctica about the devil fish. I remember laying in my hammock back in 2014 in Mexico while vision questing the project that eventually evolved into Pezzy. I dreamt about traveling the world to help crack the case and building a global devil fish supply chain.
I have lost count of the number of investors, “experts”, NGOs etc that have rolled their eyes at this over the past 10 years. It’s ok, I let the numbers speak for themselves. We’ve turned hundreds of tons of invasive devil fish into delectable pet treats sold to thousands of pet parents. Being a devil fish nerd has sent me all over Asia and Latin America.
Last night I met with a researcher and entrepreneur from Malaysia currently working to solve the invasive devil fish problem in his country. We had a great chat and I mentioned that the next step would be to bring me out for an in-country consultation. I love Malaysian food 😀
I’m ok pursuing a dream that most people don’t understand. I’m not here to chase trends. At its core, I believe entrepreneurship is about identifying a unique problem and then becoming the best person to solve it 🤘🏼
