Training if fun!! SFOPERA stage training for racked stage, grated stage floor, props on stage, flashing lights of lightening, sounds of thunder, Full Richard Wagner orchestra which requires big opera voices, three trombones under stairs of wing entrance (where Finn is sitting), stage hands for handling stage right entrance. It’s one step at a time gradually adding eAch component one at a time. This is a “dog tech” rehearsal with piano. For the performers it’s called a piano rehearsal.

Training is fun! To get this shot: train a down stay “relax” - train “be still” (see previous post) train “hold” (train downsizing objects from a plush toy to a small object like the pipe- different textures and sizes) then add duration to each behavior individually. Finally combine “relax” “hold” “be still” getting the ears pinned was just luck. But can be trained!!

Take the pledge and wear a mask.

Training for this shot was taught with a “Be Still.” To train the “be still” I used the old trick of a cookie on the nose. Added duration, then generalize “be still” for stuff like grooming like nail clipping, ear & teeth checks.

Reason #1 : Genetics Matter !! and I can't agree more so I'll repeat it.... GENETICS MATTER. If you want a socially stable dog, start out with good genetics. Assuming you have those good genetics, Meagan hits another home run with puppy socialization. However, some dogs need to have a tool box for handling those sudden environmental changes. http://www.collared-scholar.com/more-harm-than-good-3-reasons-why-i-never-socialize-my-puppies/

She stood atop of the massive metal bleachers, her puppy triumphantly standing on one of the rows, as she called down to me. “Aren’t you going to socialize your puppy?” she asked. “I’m good.” I said with a smile. “I’m going to work on engagement down here.” She looked perplexed. As...

"I don’t teach bite inhibition to my puppies. EVER." ...AND neither do I..... .Meagan writes about bite inhibition, why it is wrong and how to re-direct and let puppies explore naturally..... http://www.collared-scholar.com/exercise-frustration-never-teach-bite-inhibition-puppies/

Learn why, after raising dozens upon dozens of puppies, I regularly refrain from teaching bite inhibition and learn what you can do to save yourself from those razor sharp puppy teeth.
