We are all devistated by the events happening in NW N.C. and NE TN
Scammers are already targeting people wanting to help. Please be diligent in who you send your hard earned money to.
There are several ways to safely donate starting with the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, visit nc.gov/donate. Donations can be mailed to: NC Disaster Relief Fund, 20312 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-0312, or to NC Disaster Relief Fund, c/o United Way of NC, 1130 Kildaire Farm Road, Suite 100, Cary NC 27511.
Another way to donate is to the American Red Cross marking your donation for victims of Helene in N.C., TN, SC, GA or FL. Red Cross will be sending in volunteers as soon as these areas are accessible.
If you are donating tangible goods check locally for collection sites. Items needed include diapers, wipes and formula for babies, as well as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, sealed water, shelf stable food, pop top canned food and shampoo. Please let’s not forget the pets and other animals needing food too.
Once roads into the affected areas are safely accessible for first responders, only residents will be allowed out. Please check with your local authorities that you will be allowed back in before leaving.
