The Fall checklist from AAEP 🍁✔️

"F" IS FOR FALL-CHECKLIST! 🍂🍁

As the cooler weather moves in, now is the time to crack down on housing, nutrition, and preventative health strategies suitable for the arrival of winter.

Check out this list of essential items on the horse owner's fall to-do list, but there is much more that needs to be done—like having your horse's blankets repaired and waterproofed, securing and storing hay properly, assessing your shelters for safety and soundness, etc.

Note that your equine veterinarian is one of your greatest allies this season, so be sure to consult them and discuss vaccination and deworming protocols appropriate for your horse’s situation. This is also a great opportunity to chat about recommended changes in nutrition and exercise programs as well!

What Does a Pet Care Attendant Do?
Our Pet Care Attendants help our clinic run smoothly and really make a difference in the overall appearance of our Clinic. You’ll find that no two days are the same for a pet care attendant. You get to be a dynamic multitasker – stepping up wherever you’re needed in the bustling, high-energy environment of an emergency hospital. You set the medical teams up for success and help them work efficiently, which promotes the overall goal of providing top-notch medicine. Above everything else.... You must LOVE animals!

Key responsibilities of Pet Care Attendant’s include:

Cleaning: Create clean and safe spaces for pets by following sanitation and safety protocols, maintaining clean laundry, and deep cleaning equipment. Our Pet Care Attendant’s are also in charge of keeping our Clinic neat and tidy. Including but not limited too sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms, dusting, etc.

Sterilizing: As a Pet Care Attendant, you’ll be trained on how to properly sterilize tools in veterinary hospitals, which plays a vital role in maintaining the highest quality of care and cleanliness.

Helping care for pets: We have a boarding and grooming facility in addition to our veterinary clinic. You’ll help comfort pets when they need it the most, and you’ll get to know their cases and bond with them on their journey to recovery. You may also assist with holding, walking and feeding the patients in your hospital’s care. Boarding will consist of check-in, check-out, play time, walking, feeding/watering, laundry, cleaning/sanitizing kennels and bathing. We assist our Groomer’s with the check-in and check-out process, bathing, cleanup, and payments.

The EHVC Team “Salty Heifer” had a great day today at the Muddy Princess 5K! We had a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, and definitely got muddy! It’s a great team bonding experience and really fun way to enjoy some time with friends outside of work! Great job to all who participated 🙌🏼💪🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

Meet Frito, the handsome 1 year old Pitbull mix. This guy has made leap and bounds from the beginning of his shelter stay. Fritos came in through our Humane Officer after a not so great start to life.
Once have an approved application, ask to see Frito out of his kennel. He is such a love bug and wants to be in a person's lap for pets and kisses.
He has previously lived with other dogs and cats. Though, a meet and greet is always a must. And he can be re cat tested with an approved application.

Introducing Argo, the young 2 year old Shepherd mix. This handsome man is happy, go lucky kind of guy. He is active, eager to learn, wants to please, and loves all people. Argo does well with other dogs, though a meet and greet is always a must.
