This is why you should always double check before you cut anything at night in a dimly lit barn. One of my buckskin does had a beard full of burdock and since a doe doesn't need a beard anyway I decided to cut it off instead of wasting time trying to separate the burdock from her hair. Grabbed the scissors, put her between my legs, bent over, grabbed her beard and cut it off. Realized I had more in my hand than just a beard afterwards. π If the cord or beard had been lighter in color I probably would have noticed it but they were both black. That darn sweatshirt hood cord was too long anyway and constantly got in the way when I was trimming hooves so good riddance!
