Thank you so much Kelly and Katie Mauger for our first donation of kitty food. Ferns new friends will certainly appreciate it.

I haven't gotten an exact date still but looks like by the end of May Ms Fern will be headed to her sanctuary.

Please consider sending more kitty food as the rescue also takes in a lot of cats who need help

Haven't gotten a date for Fern to head to her sanctuary. She is a bit bummed however because she hasn't received even 1 bag of kitty food for all her new friends at the rescue. February Star Rescue and Sanctuary not only takes in horses but has a lot of cats living there and looking for homes. Fern says please consider donating a bag of cat food to go along with her for the trip to Maryland

February Star Rescue/Sanctuary will be taking Fern in when they have an opening. What a relief. She will be safe and cared for. They also rescue A LOT of cats. I'd like to do a cat food drive so I can take a bunch of food to help them out and thank them for taking in Ms Fern. I haven't received a date yet but would like to start now and get as much as possible. I have included the feed that Fern currently eats on the list as well.

Anything on her Amazon wishlist will be shipped directly to me to put in the trailer for her trip

Officially posting Fern looking for a home. Rescue/sanctuary would be ideal if anyone knows of somewhere. My plan was always to re-home her but due to her personality/background I'm going to be picky as she'd need the perfect owner

I've had a lot going on lately so haven't been posting but Ms Fern is doing pretty good. I haven't been riding to much as being caught had taken a step back. She does great in the stall but since being introduced to a lil mini friend she doesn't want to leave him. Thankfully where she is boarded (Saddle Creek Farm) they are amazing and willing to rearrange for the horses needs. She now goes out with the mare stalled next to her overnight. Hoping she will realize they both go in and out together. I've also been working her on a LARGE circle on the lounge line and having her come in to me when I ask for a stop. Usually I hate when the horse chooses to come in but I want Fern to seek comfort and a resting place with people

What else can I say but WOW. Fern has been working hard and making huge strides. Today was the day. I hoped on. She stood like a statue at the mounting block. She was extremely hesitant to move at first but I'd rather her stop and ask questions than try to take off. And then she stands like a rock to dismount

Sorry I haven't updated lately but our house and myself were struck down with COVID. Finally able to get back to work with Ms Fern. The last 2 days I just did some lounging and groundwork. Yesterday I spent some time just hanging in her stall with her. She is always on edge when your in her stall just wondering what the humans next move will be. For her to actually go eat while I was there was HUGE

How cool is this. Fern is settling in well. She had off yesterday. Today, we tried a saddle. Not even a flinch when I put it on and cinched her up. We've also been working on standing at the mounting block and she does great. I'm honestly impressed. She is so terrified and yet so brave. Afterwards, she got a good brushing and started to really relax😁

Fern is an extremely smart girl. She accepts a ba****ck pad. Next I'll try a saddle. She still has more weight to gain before any riding happens but we are setting the groundwork.

Also, starting to lean towards Tennessee Walker as her breed. The more I work with her the more of a little bit of gaited comes out

Did some horse swapping today. My other rescue mare Xena, who I've had 6 yrs, has been lame off and on and tested positive for Lyme's. So Xena is getting some much deserved time off. I brought her and a borrowed mini home and Ms Fern gets Xena's stall for a month. Xena gets time off, Pye gets a change of scenery, and now I can really get to work with Fern with the indoor. Win win all around. So be on the lookout for many updates

Fern is doing fantastic. She is wonderful about being caught at feeding time. Last week I entered a holiday drawing from Kauffmans horse supplement company. I didn't see my email from them but saw a package at the mailbox. Didn't remember ordering anything and to my surprise was a full size container of a skin, coat, and weight supplement. Perfect to help get Ms Fern back in tip top shape

Big day again for Ms Fern. Farrier day!!!!! She was in desperate need but I wanted to make sure she was mentally ready so it was all positive. She blew me away. Stood better than most horses. And what an amazing difference. Joe Phillips did such a great job
