What are ProVet™ and ProStride?
Dechra’s ProVet™ and Zoetis’ ProStride systems are cutting-edge regenerative therapies that use your horse’s own blood to create a powerful healing product called Autologous Protein Concentrate (APC). These systems combine the healing powers of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), IRAP, and leukocytes (white blood cells), forming a super-charged mix known as Leukocyte Rich Platelet Rich Plasma (LR-PRP). This unique formula is packed with a higher concentration of growth factors and cytokines, key players in stimulating tissue regeneration and healing.
So, what does that mean for your horse? These treatments can significantly enhance the healing of soft tissue injuries and can even help manage osteoarthritis (joint degeneration) by promoting cell function and tissue regeneration more effectively than older PRP systems.

How Does It Work?
Just like IRAP, ProVet™ and ProStride begin with blood drawn from your horse. The blood is then processed through a specialized centrifuge system stall-side, so the entire process can happen the same day—no need for multiple trips to the clinic. The biggest difference between the two systems is the amount of product each kit produces, meaning the choice will depend on how much your horse needs.
Since this therapy uses autologous (from the same animal) material, it's extremely safe—perfect for horses with conditions like Cushing’s Disease (PPID) or metabolic issues that can complicate other treatments.

In Short:
Both ProVet™ and ProStride offer cutting-edge, biologic therapy that harnesses the healing potential of your horse’s own blood, delivering superior results for soft tissue injuries and joint issues like arthritis. They’re safe, effective, and tailored to your horse’s needs, helping them get back to feeling their best faster!

Equine chiropractic care is all about helping your horse feel its best by addressing issues with its spine and musculoskeletal system. Much like humans, horses can experience misalignments or restrictions in their joints and spine, which can affect their overall movement, comfort, and performance. Through gentle spinal adjustments, a certified equine chiropractor works to realign your horse’s body, improving mobility, reducing pain, and promoting faster recovery from injuries.
But why should you consider it for your horse? Here’s a quick rundown of some of the benefits:
✨ Improved Posture: Helps your horse stand and move more naturally, which can lead to better performance.
✨ Enhanced Athletic Performance: Just like in humans, a properly aligned body means better range of motion, power, and endurance.
✨ Reduced Muscle and Joint Stress: Chiropractic care can help relieve tension and prevent Look out for these signs that may indicate your horse could benefit from a chiropractic adjustment:
👉 Changes in Behavior – If your horse becomes reluctant to work, is more sensitive during saddling, or shows unusual signs of discomfort, it might be a sign that something’s off.
👉 Decline in Performance – A decrease in speed, agility, or stamina could be due to a misalignment affecting movement or muscle function.
👉 Uneven Hoof Wear – When your horse's hooves wear down unevenly, it can indicate imbalances in their body, often caused by spinal issues.
👉 Post-Exercise Stiffness – Horses that seem stiff or sore after exercise may have muscle tension or joint restrictions that could be eased through chiropractic care.
👉 Difficulty with Transitions – Struggling to pick up leads, change gaits, or perform other movements may indicate discomfort or alignment problems.
👉 Uneven Muscle Development – If you notice one side of your horse is more muscular than the other, this can be a sign of compensating for misalignment.
👉 Sensitivity to Touch – If your horse is sensitive to being touched in specific areas (especially along the back, neck, or hips), it may signal discomfort or muscle tightness.
If any of these symptoms sound familiar, or if you're just curious to learn more about how chiropractic care can improve your horse’s health, we’d love to chat with you! Please reach out to us today at (970)-368-3125 or at [email protected]

Is a new horse about to find its way under your Christmas tree? 🎄🐴
The holidays are the perfect time to add a new four-legged friend to your family, but before you get swept up in the excitement of having a shiny new horse, it’s crucial to make sure your future equine companion is in tip-top shape. The best way to do that? A pre-purchase exam! Buying a horse is a thrilling adventure, but it’s also a big responsibility—one that involves making sure your new horse is healthy, sound, and ready to do the job you have in mind. A comprehensive pre-purchase exam is the best way to avoid any unexpected surprises (or costly vet bills) after you bring your new friend home.
A pre-purchase exam is a thorough veterinary evaluation designed to assess the horse’s overall health, soundness, and suitability for its intended purpose. Whether you're looking for a show horse, a trail buddy, or a companion, this exam helps you make an informed decision before you commit.
Here’s what a full pre-purchase exam typically involves:
1. Physical Examination – The vet will inspect your potential new horse's overall condition, conformation, and check for any signs of past injuries or abnormalities.
2. Lameness Assessment – The vet will observe the horse in motion (on different terrains and gaits) to look for any signs of lameness.
3. Flexion Tests – This is where the vet checks the horse's flexibility and looks for any discomfort or stiffness in specific joints. It helps determine if there are any hidden issues that might affect performance down the road.
4. Imaging (X-rays/Ultrasound) – Imaging might be used to dive deeper into the bones and soft tissues to rule out potential problems. This is especially useful for horses that will be doing high-impact work like jumping or racing.
5. Blood Tests – Bloodwork can be used to screen for diseases (like Cushing’s, EPM, or infections) and to check for any substances that could impact your horse’s health or performance.
Before you unwrap that beautiful new equine companion this holiday season, make sure you give them the gift of a thorough pre-purchase exam! It’s the best way to ensure your new horse is healthy, happy, and ready to join your family without any unexpected surprises.

Interested in scheduling an exam or learning more? Reach out to us today at (970)-368-3125 or [email protected]! We’re here to help make sure your holiday horse dreams come true! 🎁🐴✨

How much do our horses love their laser sessions? Just ask London!
Laser Therapy uses a powerful therapeutic device that uses a specific form of light therapy called photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT). PBMT works by shining a beam of infrared light at the site of injury. This beam of light stimulates the cytochrome c complex of the mitochondria, increases the levels of ATP production, and provides the cells with more energy to carry out regenerative processes. This laser is supported by ten years of research, is veterinarian approved, and has shown particular efficacy in treating sacro-iliac disease, degenerative joint disease, edema, bone spavins, tendonitis, and sesamoiditis. FREP is proud to offer The Pegasus PTX Therapy Class IV Laser to its clients.

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Marshall-Gibson will be presenting at the Sunrise Session, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, on the the Sleip Artificial Intelligence Gait Analysis application in practice and rehabilitation settings! But that's not all—Dr. Marshall-Gibson will also be assisting with the brand-new "How-To-Go-Do" sessions at the conference! These hands-on sessions are a game-changer, where an expert veterinarian presents a critical technique through a paper, then guides attendees in a lab to practice and perfect the skill. We couldn't be more proud of Dr. Marshall-Gibson’s incredible contributions to the field—this is going to be an amazing experience!
