We wanted to post an update as we have had may questions about appointments recently.
-We are still seeing patients with some exceptions - if you have an appt scheduled, unless we have contacted you, we will still be going to the appointment as scheduled.
- We are trying to avoid as much human contact as possible so we ask that you have horses in stalls with halters on and if you choose to be there, please stay back at least 6 ft. Though we appreciate clients trying to help us, we ask you do not help us with horses or our equipment at this time.
- We will send all bills so please do not hover around the vet truck.
-If you have come in contact with someone who is sick, or you are sick please be courteous and notify us so that we can either reschedule, or take appropriate additional measures to protect ourselves in emergent situations.
Please remember we have other clients we see and a family to go home to.

Things You Should and Should Not Put on a Horse's Wound – The Horse

Make sure to stay away from things like caustic powders, cayenne pepper, and harsh chemicals, and all those “magic wound healers,” they often delay healing and make it difficult or impossible to suture. Keep the wound clean and moist. You get better wound healing by keeping it covered, it does not need to be open to the air.

Is the ointment you're using on that cut helping or hurting? Remember these tips when treating horse wounds.

!!Illegitimate Adequan!! Please read. Note if you purchased Adequan from us you have nothing to worry about we only purchase directly from Luitpold.

**NOTIFICATION OF ILLEGITIMATE PRODUCT**

This afternoon, we were notified by Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, that they have been made aware of an ILLEGITIMATE vial of Adequan I.M. 50ml Multi-Dose. The lot number of the illegitimate vial is 8007, which does match Luitpold's lot number. However, the expiration date on the illegitimate vial displays "JAN 2019" whereas the correct expiration date for Luitpold's lot is "DEC18". In addition, the label, which closely mimics Luitpold's, is not consistant with their print format, darkness, and font.

Be assured that this notice DOES NOT concern Adequan sold by our office because we purchase directly from Luitpold. For those who have purchased Adequan from a source other than a veterinarian, we urge you to check your bottles carefully. Luitpold stresses that the safety and efficacy of product obtained indirectly and from illegitimate sources cannot be guaranteed and the product should not be administered.

Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns.

Rider Fitness

Though this is not a peer reviewed article, it does give some good information on arena footing and ideas to consider. It’s always a good idea to try footing out for yourself; go for a jog in your arena and see what it feels like to you. You may be surprised by what you find. Often you may notice that some areas of your ring are hard and other areas are too soft.

Cool explanation of arena footing!
