It’s been an absolutely WILD few months since I last posted, as my buddy Biscuit can attest to! With how busy I have been with cats, dogs, pigs, bunnies, goats, llamas, sheep, chickens, and more, I haven’t had the mental bandwidth to keep up with blogging and social media. I promise I am going to try my best to get back to posting regularly!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful end to 2023, and here’s looking at a new year full of love and belly rubs!

Sleepy and beat up, but Desi is home! Still a long way to go before he’s recovered but from such a bleak prognosis just two days ago, to where he is now is absolutely astonishing.

Thank you all for the good vibes and well wishes, and so many thanks to for saving our boy! Dr Galano, Dr Flint, Anna, and everyone else whose name I regrettably missed in all the turmoil - you are true heroes and this house cannot express our gratitude enough.

CW: wildlife attack.

This is one of my own pets. Desi got outside yesterday and was attacked by something (thinking a bird of prey, but can’t be sure). I found him unresponsive and bleeding from the neck. Thankfully we were able to get him to Shoreline alive. Their INCREDIBLE team has gotten him stable, but as it stands now, Desi has function in only one limb. For a young, strong, healthy cat, this is heartbreaking. He’s only 4 years old.

We have no idea what’s going to happen yet, but whatever it is, the little dude has a long painful road ahead of him.

I ask for your patience and understanding over the next few days. My visit updates will likely be less entertaining than usual, but rest assured your pets will still receive their top-tier care and love.

Also please consider insuring your pets if you haven’t already! Their survival can become insanely expensive in a flash, and without Trupanion coverage, Desi wouldn’t have had a chance.

Sweet Ollie the poly!

Polydactyly is a genetic mutation resulting in extra toes. It is generally harmless (and adorable), and in some cases can even be beneficial! Just make sure that you don’t miss anything during nail trims - it can be hard to find all of them!

Feeling right at home with these guys! Did you know that in addition to cats and dogs, I love working with farm animals? Early mornings in the barn, crisp air, the smell of livestock, and throwing haybales is in my blood. I come from a long line of dairy farmers!

It’s tick season, and it’s a nasty one! Protect your furbabies (and yourself!) by getting them before they bite. I use a combination of Nexgard year round, and a sticky roller after every outdoor excursion (yes, even just around the yard). It’s also a great way to keep an eye on your dog’s entire body, giving you a chance to find anything unusual early! This one is from @acehardware and each sheet holds up to 2-3 full body rolls on my girl.
