I'm Heather the breeder behind Louvre.

My love for the Australian shepherd started over a decade ago, and has pretty much consumed my life since. Our aussies have become a lifestyle that both my fiancé and myself have dedicated ourselves to. My first Australian shepherd came into my life as a high school graduate that was finally financially independent with the ability to purchase her dream puppy in the form of a beautiful fuzzy black

tri aussies that became known as Jake. Jake was my very best friend, and he started it all for me. Today we have since owned multiple aussies and have had the privilege of providing some amazing families with aussies of their own. Introducing some to the world of well-bred purebred dogs. My goal is to always preserve and protect my beloved breed and to share my love of this breed with us through education, cute puppy photos, and our breeding program.

A friend lost her heart dog today, and that hits really hard when you know a friend is hurting, and the realization that one day, hopefully in the very distant future I too will lose my dearest friends. Please send healing vibes as my friend navigates this loss. Her girl left a beautiful legacy in her progeny ❤️

When people ask me what my favorite Aussie color is, my response is, whatever dog best fits into my lifestyle.

Sharing this post from another breeder. It's ok to have a color preference, but there are far more important traits to focus on when choosing your companion for the next 12-15 years.

“Do you have a Merle available?” “Hi, I’m looking for a Merle.” “Sorry, it’s not the dog we’re after; we were hoping for a Merle.”

As breeders, we constantly hear this. You think it’s just now and then, but it’s 99% of daily inquiries.

Red or blue Merle’s make up less than 25% of the genetic pool of Australian Shepherds but seem to be the only thing people care about.

When did we as a society stop caring about what makes a good dog a good dog and only care about the color coat they happen to win in the genetic lottery?

Yet everyone focuses on color and encourages unethical breeders to continue to practice. Sometimes, these breeders do unethical pairings, not caring about their dogs or the pups and setting them up for failure.

Instead of asking about the breeding practices, how the puppies are raised and socialized, find out what the breeder does to go above and beyond and if they’re a genuine caring breeder who does all this for love and not money, wanting the best for their dogs so they get homes forever, are a great companion and have the best start possible… focus only on color. Please don’t keep encouraging these less-than-adequate breeders to keep going. The ones that exploit dogs for money, breeding unhealthy dogs that will break your bank and your heart, the ones that have aggression or place the wrong dogs in the wrong homes, whose dogs look nothing like what an Australian Shepherd should, who will charge you more for a Merle because that’s what you’re all clamoring for.

I'm sure we will have pet puppies available, but right now I'd like to put a list together for serious conformation and serious sport homes. Jeanna already has a few puppies who are making huge strides in their agility careers and I'm searching for an equally driven stud dog.

We got our today and it's a hit! The pups get Barkbox and Wolfpack and I definitely prefer Wolfpack. Then we got collagen bones from Natural Pet as enrichment tonight. Iris pictured on the couch is a HEAVY chewer even bully jumbo bully sticks don't hold up like these bones are.

Brain games for breakfast? Reno is a drivey puppy and being injured it's hard to keep him from becoming destructive when bored. So we play games at meal time.
