Crate training and why it’s imperative when raising a puppy.

Puppies are notoriously naughty 😅 cute. But naughty. ❤️ I say this lovingly as there’s nothing better than “a naughty little puppy” as I say. Lol

What I mean when I say “naughty” is puppies are curious and want to put everything in their mouth! Including electrical cords, small choking hazards, any food they may find, and so much more.

You can never leave a puppy unattended but you also cannot spend 24/7 with a puppy or you will create separation anxiety.

So where do you put the puppy when you must leave for a few hours? Please don’t tell me you are stuck in the dark ages and still put your puppy in the bathroom as a “safe place” while you run to the bank or go grab some groceries 🙈 Come on. Let’s get with the times 😁 There’s a better way. It’s called a crate.

Not only does a crate keep them safe while you are away but it also helps with potty training!! Puppies do not go potty in their crate (if it’s the right size…more on this in my puppy guide- link in bio) but guess where they DO go? Wherever they want if you aren’t paying attention 🤣 So when you leave them unattended “in the bathroom” while you run to the store, they are not only chewing up your baseboard or eating the Sheetrock, but they are also going to the bathroom whenever the need arises. But if you put them in a crate they won’t potty until you get back when you can promptly let them out upon your arrival and take them directly outside for a potty break 🙌🙌

Crates will grow to be your puppies home. Their safe space. My dogs LOVE their crates and go in them whenever they want and a night they all have their own crates to sleep in and I have tried to put them away to make some room 😅 but my dogs look at me like “where is my bed???” So I no longer try to get rid of them when my puppies turn into adults. I realize it is so much more than safety for them ❤️

Well she didn’t really look at me 🤣🤣🤣 but she did at first and I missed it…I should have IMMEDIATELY said “Rio ok” but instead I waited for her to make eye contact again, which she KINDA did so I let her go but this video is proof that timing is everything and I messed this one up 🙈

This is how my dogs take a bath 🥰

I don’t bathe my dogs on a regular basis.

They each have had maybe two spa days in their entire life. Goose is almost 11 so, on average, one bath every 3 or 4 years 🥰

Their coats are shiny. Their skin is healthy. They don’t stink.

If everything is good on the inside then it shows on the outside 🥰
