*KENYA VETERINARY PARAPROFESSIONALS ASSOCIATION CONSULTATIVE MEETING*

Kenya Veterinary Paraprofessionals Association KVPA led by Chairman John Ngigi and other KVPA leaders and officials lead by PS. State Department for Livestock Development Hon.Jonathan Mweke held consultative meeting with KVB,VMD,DVS and Directorate of Livestock Policy Research and regulations,Principal AHITI KABETE.

Key issues on the discussion was how to better regulate the sector to ensure it's growth,training of Animal Health Professionals, and their competency in relation to their duties as stipulated in VMD Regulations 2015 and VSVP Act 2011.

The team agreed to work on a framework of reviewing the laws to align with VPPs competency and country need and to ensure that they practice that which they were taught in college.

In the coming days more details shall follow. KVPA is committed to ensure that the practice of VPPs is protected by law,quack is eradicated and regulatory agencies undertake there work in a responsible manner and in accordance with the dictates of the law.

*KVPA HOLD CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH PS STATE DEPARTMENT OF LIVESTOCK THE HON.JONATHAN MWEKE.*
Kenya Veterinary Paraprofessionals Association KVPA an umbrella National Association in Kenya led by chairman Mr.John Ngigi together with African Veterinary Technicians Association (AVTA) led by President Benson Ameda accompanied by other leaders today met and held talks with the Permanent Secretary State Department for Livestock Development in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock development.

The discussion revolved around ensuring that the practice by Veterinary Paraprofessionals is done in accordance with the law,capacity building of Veterinary Paraprofessionals,collaboration with the state department,issues regarding the enforcement of VSVP Act 2011,VMD Regulations 2015 and recognition of practice by VPPs.

More discussion will be held in the coming days to fine tune on the issues discussed. KVPA reiterate her commitment to protect and defend VPPs' interest and ensure recognitions of their practice and competency. We also commit to partner with the state department and regulatory agencies to ensure that enforcement of law is done in a professional manner and also ensure eradication of quacks and illegal practice.

The Association going forward will profile all Agrovet in the country in their efforts to help eradicate illegal practice and ensure that businesses managed by professionals thrive and grow without hindrance and in compliance with the law.
