In a couple of weeks I’ll be heading down south for the Rottweiler and Flat Coated Retriever National Specialties. I know it probably sounds a little funny to call driving across states to attend breed events a “break,” but this kind of thing genuinely fills my cup.
I’m really looking forward to volunteering, learning, and spending time with people who care deeply about preserving and understanding their breeds, especially these two in particular, which I have a big soft spot for.
While our own crew consists of rescues and mixed breeds, I’ve never seen that as being at odds with appreciating ethical breeding. I just really like dogs and enjoy learning about them from every angle.
Whether that’s rescue, preservation breeding, health, temperament, working ability, or understanding what makes different breeds unique, I think there’s always something to learn. The more time I spend around people who care deeply about doing things thoughtfully and responsibly, the more appreciation I have for dogs and their people as a whole.
💙 Don’t worry, the shop will stay fully open while I’m away and orders will continue as usual. I’m not expecting major changes to turnaround times, though a few orders may land closer to the later end of the quoted processing window while I’m off on my extremely normal and extremely dog-centric vacation.
