Every jump starts with a leap of faith 🐾✨

Six years ago, I took a giant leap from my nursing career to pursue Sloppy Chops full-time. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave behind a profession dedicated to helping others, but my love for crafting unique, high-quality pet gear pulled me in a new direction.

Transitioning from nursing to full-time artist and business owner was a journey filled with challenges and triumphs, but every step has been worth it. The joy of seeing pets and their owners delighted by our products fuels my creativity and commitment.

As I reflect back on this adventure, I’m thrilled to share that we have a new line of products that will be launching next month! Each piece is crafted with the same heart and soul that started it all, and I can’t wait for you to experience them. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. It’s been a very busy week in the shop with the arrival of Periwinkle and Dusty Turquoise BioThane®. As promised, all orders received during our Limited Edition Color Pre-Order last month are at the top of our priority list and many of those orders will be shipping out tomorrow (or by next week at the latest if they needed some extra ✨sparkle added to them). Thanks to all for your patience and support in bringing these colors to the shop.

While not all of these Limited Edition colors are around to stay, I did order a bit of extra in each color in case I made an oops or my math was slightly off. With that being said, the Limited Edition colors will be available via our website until we run out!

❤️ SOLD: I have this modified Bijou panel that is available just in time for Valentine’s Day (fully completed collar is not done yet as we can build that together based on your preferences).

This is a Red English Bridle leather that I do not normally stock, decorated with ss40 and 34 light siam crystals and black hardware/pyramid studs (again, black hardware isn’t a normal offering for our leather goods).

The exact size of this collar is TBD depending on buyer’s preferences, but ideal neck size will be 16-17.5 inches. The design panel is 1” in width and can be mounted on a 1” base (red is available in this width for a base) or in a wider base (I suggest the black latigo — that would be really sharp!). If you opt for a wider base we can embellish it if you wish...or not. 🥰

TLDR: this collar is ready to be customized for a pup with a 16-17.5” neck and I will help walk the person through its creation based on your preferences.

Cost is $100 if we mount this design panel on 1” width leather of your choice (marked down 20%). If you want to get fancier and mount it on a wider panel, taper the buckle ends, add on a border, etc., I would be happy to do that for you and cost will increase as per our usual customizations.

I hope to work with the buyer of this collar and have it shipped in time for Valentine’s Day (if that is a goal of yours!).

✈️ Taking off today to from the snowy North see our friend at and Meet the Breeds in NYC this weekend! Im looking forward to digging through MC fabrics (it’s always fun to touch and experience them in person) and also spend some time around breeds that interest me but I haven’t spent much time around (Flat Coated Retrievers, Beaucerons, Borzoi…).

Do you have any dog breeds you always thought you’d like but haven’t spent much time around; and what about them intrigues you?

Or what about MC fabrics that you recommend? I tend to lean towards the soft and lightweight cozies like Wrangler, but always surprised but what I end up falling in love with.

Introducing the Mini Aphex Collar — our latest collar design that caters to both our canine companions AND our feline friends. 🐾 This versatile piece can be customized for the tiniest necks at six inches all the way up to the grandest at 26”+. As with all of our collars (and specially our leather options), the width of the collar is adjustable depending on your pet’s needs and your style preference. This design can range from a sleek 3/4”-width with a 1/2” buckle to a 1.25” width/buckle.

💔I am very sad to say that we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Winston last week. His loss was premature and unexpected, but I am grateful to have spent the past 7 years with him by our side, bringing joy to our household every day.

Moving to a more remote area a few years ago was not only for our benefit, but also largely for our dogs. I’m not sure if any dog appreciated our move more than Winston, however; being able to spend the past 3 years of his life essentially off-lead and doing the things he liked best was probably the greatest gift we could have given him.

Winston was the best camping partner, protector, running companion and snuggler. The loss of his presence in our home has left a large void. When walking on the property I think I still see him flitting from tree-to-tree, chasing chipmunks and wishing for a squirrel to magically appear, or overlooking the woods from the deck, waiting for an “intruder” to dare make themselves known. When walking into the house we are now only greeted by the happy thump of dog tails and no longer get to hear the joyful terrier barks and screams of excitement. But instead of lingering in what we have lost, we are trying to revel in what we have gained by having him be in our lives. We are Thankful for all of the walks, pets, kisses, trips and amazing memories his presence brought us. Thank you, Winston, for being exactly you. ❤️

Not every collar design is a one that I’d dress my own dogs in, but this one 🤌 definitely is. An homage to our Creature Collar, The DAZZLE Collar utilizes strong rectangular spots and our seaglass cabochons for a “glow-from-within” look. 💜 Thank you to everyone for your well wishes for Winston. Today I will be taking a day away from the shop and spending time with him in preparation for his surgery in the morning. As promised earlier this week, I just listed this custom Pax buckle collar (and a few other items) in the shop, all available for immediate purchase in our Ready-to-Ship section on the website. This is a great last minute grab, as we are not currently offering this style and the normal lead time is 4-6 weeks. ↠ sloppychopsco.com ↞ This collar is a beast, with a 2” base, 1.5” overlay and 1.5” hardware. Collar color is Orca (black) with matching strapkeeper and stainless steel hardware. The collar features extra large 1” pyramid studs on the main panel and a fully decked out pyramid border. Size 22-24”.
