Moon is a stout made roan gelding that was started in Jeremy Knoles cow horse program. We have given him a ranch job the last two years including packing elk in the badlands. This gelding has roped a lot of cattle outside and is gritty tough for anything you want to use him for. He is out of our stallion Bitty Little Boon who is an NRCHA money earner and is currently being shown in cow horse and cutting. Moon will have been started heeling by sale day but most of his roping experience is in the branding pen and in the pasture. He is ready to go on in the performance arena or keep him as your steady rock solid ranch horse. He will be at Billings Livestock in Billings MT on February 22nd. Tell us a little more about your partner:

JS Dakotas Butter is a 2017 AQHA Ranch Heritage Bred gelding. I purchased “Koda” to be my weekend trail riding horse. However after researching Ranch Riding, I became fascinated with the sport. Koda is a kind and patient gelding and together we are learning the details of ranch riding.

What was your favorite part about running for the National Championship in 2024?
My favorite part was spending countless hours in and out of the arena with my horse, as well as meeting so many new friends from all over the country.

What is something new you learned this year?
As much time as I spent learning about horsemanship, the greatest lesson I learned was to have a confident mind and be mentally tough.

What is your favorite Ranch Horse class?
Definitely Ranch Trail!

How does it feel to be the National High Point Champion?
It is a true honor to be Novice Amateur Champion. I feel truly blessed to have had this opportunity to show and travel with my horse by my side. I praise God for keeping us safe across the many miles we traveled.

What is your most memorable moment of 2024?
There is not one specific memorable moment, but the 2024 show season is full of memories that I will always cherish.

Any advice for your fellow competitors?
Set a goal, work hard, strive for consistency, and look for every opportunity to learn and improve.

As we look out the window at blowing snow and colder temperatures, we are reflecting on 2024 and are thankful to have had a productive year. Every year offers its own challenges, but our family was able to work together to get through whatever was thrown our way. Thank you to everyone that has followed us and for all of the customers we have had throughout the year. We are excited for the slow down of the holiday season.

Branded another set of calves yesterday and Payday was put to work. Payday is a level headed gelding that is always in the right spot when you need him. He is going to the Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horses sale on June 1st in Douglas Wy.

It's been a busy month with a little over 500 head of calves born in the last thirty days. As we are starting to slow down on calving, we start ramping up on branding season. We branded a few calves this last weekend and several of our horses got in on the action. All of these horses will be going to Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horses Sale on June 1st, 2024. It takes a lot of wet saddle blankets to make them broke. Ours are getting lots of miles right now. Calving season equals tired horses.

Back to reality after spending a few days in Vegas for the AQHA Convention. Thank goodness we don’t start calving for several weeks but we helped our neighbor out with this early arrival. Emit did a great job getting this new baby to the barn. You can have a chance to own Emit since he is lot #29 in the upcoming Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horses Sale in June.

I would love to have gotten some more artistic photos today with the weather. However, I only took my glove off long enough to get one quick picture of me struggling to keep water tanks running.

The weather is changing and the broodmares are all home and ready for the cold.

With cold weather on the way, we spent the morning pulling some sore footed and thin cows from the main cow herd so they can get a little more care. We were able to use our hay yard as a makeshift load out. It was also nice to have the boys home to help before school restarts.
