Hold on to your hats, folks, because there's a new sheriff in town. B Dawg has the swagger of a seasoned sheriff -- playful, confident, and quick to make friends with everyone he meets. He's got a knack for wrangling smiles, knows how to "sit" like a gentleman, and will charm you with his great attitude. Whether it's chasing a ball or just hanging out with his human or canine partners, B Dawg knows how to have fun on and off duty. He might try to round up any kitties though, so a home with no felines is recommended. He is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 67 pounds, is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated. B Dawg is ready to ride off into the sunset with you for a lifetime of love and adventures, so come meet him at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL. 34450. ID #5669238

Baby is all decked out and ready to be your trick-or-treat partner! Not only does Baby love treats, but she's also got her own tricks to show off. She sits when asked, gives her paw, and will down for treats. Baby is a beautiful girl who loves to be next to her people. She is smart and alert and loves to interact. This clever girl is also a joy to watch play. She picks up a soft toy and runs zoomies. She will throw it up in the air, catch it, and then run the opposite direction. She is completely housebroken and has great manners in the home. Baby loves to go on walks, but also easily goes into a crate when needed. Come meet this beauty at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Rd., Inverness, FL. Looking for a Cabana boy? Or maybe someone to hang out with poolside? Then Stew's your man. Stew is such a sweet guy, always quick to offer a smile and a tail wag. He recently got to ride out the recent storm with one of our fabulous volunteers and they were able to give us some great information about him. Stew was well behaved, even while being left alone in the home. He knows the sit command, takes treats gently and will offer his paw to shake. He loves having a yard to call his own (he can pull on a leash) and loves to roll in the grass and lay out in the sun. And, yes, he LOVES the water! Once inside, Stew quickly learned to head to the kitchen for a treat after his potty breaks and then he's content to snuggle up with his human. Stew is 9 years old and weighs 73 pounds, is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and vaccinated. Come meet him at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Rd., Inverness, FL. ID #31814481.

Alert, smart, and focused describe Cha-Ching. She has great attention span and interaction with her people. Cha-ching is fun, curious, loving and will make you smile! Her recent foster says she walks perfect on leash and knows the commands for sit and down. She loves pets, belly rubs and is content to lay with her head in your lap soaking up the attention. She did not get on furniture, is housebroken and had great manners in the home -- no bad habits or destructive behavior. She likes to play with people and enjoyed playing with another dog in the foster home, but doesn't like to share food. Cha-ching has also been an active player with multiple dogs in the shelter play groups. She did share a foster home with a cat, but will need additional training to not get too curious with cats. Cha-ching is listed in the age range of 2-6 yrs. and weighs 50 lbs. All adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and vaccinated. Come meet this fun girl at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Rd., Inverness, FL. ID #56907686. Baby Girl adores people and other dogs. She enjoys belly rubs, cuddling and snuggling before going to sleep. If you stop rubbing before she's ready to stop, she will pull your hand back for more. She will relax in a recliner if not spread out on the bed. She takes treats very gently. So nicely in fact that you can hold a small milk bone and she will break it in half and wait for you to let go of the rest. She enjoys cheese also. Baby Girl gives lots of kisses freely. Sheā€™s not had any potty accidents in the foster home and hasn't been crated. She has great house manners! Baby Girl has a great personality and is the life of the party! In play groups she is social and gives calm greetings to other dogs who enter. She allows investigations from other dogs and offers play bows to invite them to have fun. This happy girl will entertain you with her antics and keep a smile on your face. She gets excited to meet new people and will greet you with gusto. She is very social and has never met a stranger. Goody recently spent time in a foster home. They report that she is perfectly house trained and knows to scratch at the door to go out. They describe her as easy-going and calm. She took her food gently and always waited her turn patiently. She is crate trained but showed no separation anxiety when left alone. She comes when called and walks nicely on a leash. She was great with both of their dogs both large and small. She was fine with the older, calm cat but the younger cat darting around and the chickens garnered too much attention from her. She is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 51 pounds. All adoptable dogs at CCAS are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated. Come meet Goody at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Rd., Inverness, FL. ID # 56960541. Meet Ben, a gentle boy with a heart full of love! This sweet, calm boy thrives on quality time with his people and is happiest by your side. Recently, Ben spent time in a foster home, where he showed off his excellent house mannersā€”heā€™s fully house-trained, low-energy, and enjoys short, leisurely walks. Benā€™s affectionate side shines through with his favorite people, who are often rewarded with his gentle kisses. He is not a fan of the shenanigans of young, energetic dogs but may appreciate the companionship of a peaceful friend. We always recommend a guided introduction at animal services, when possible. Ben is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and fully vaccinated. At 87 pounds, heā€™s listed in the 6-10-year age category, making him the perfect mellow companion for a loving home. Come meet this sweetheart at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL 34450. ID # 57071726.

UPDATE: ON A SLUMBER PARTY!
Spring was recently in a foster home and the foster mom states that she was a quiet guest with no barking. She walked well on a leash and reacted appropriately near other dogs during the walks. She is very friendly and was appreciative of their interaction with her. She enjoys the comforts of the home but also likes spending time outside. She likes to please her people and wants to mind when she knows what is expected of her. She knows sit and shake and she takes treats gently. She enjoys a spunky game of fetch. When asked what they liked most about her they said it was her sweet personality. All adoptable dogs at CCAS are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated. She is listed in the age category of 6-10 years old and weighs 77 pounds. Come meet her at Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL. 34450. ID # 56996602. UPDATE: ADOPTED!
Marbell is super friendly and lovable. She would rather spend time with people than play with toys. She is affectionate and attentive and enjoyed the children in a foster home. The foster mom describes her as very friendly, sweet, smart, and cuddly. She loves to snuggle with her favorite people! She knows the "sit" command, and takes treats nicely. If you keep a crate out for her she will willingly go in to sleep. She also enjoys sleeping with her person, if allowed. She is housebroken and has nice manners. She is estimated to be 2 years old listed and weighs 65 pounds. In the foster home she reportedly chased the outdoor cats so she may be best in a non-cat home. Come meet her at Citrus County Animal Services 4030 S. Airport Road, Inverness, FL. 34450. ID #56617264.

This is an X-ray of a dogā€™s bent front leg. See that tiny white spec? Thatā€™s a microchip! It has migrated down the leg....far from where it was inserted, between the dogā€™s shoulders. This is actually quite common.....

When lost pets are scanned, the entire body SHOULD be scanned to catch any that have migrated. But, as an owner, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT THEIR YEARLY VET EXAM, to ask for a quick scan to make sure that: (1) the chip is still working, (2) the location of the chip is good, and (3) that the chip info is correct.

Remember microchips save lives and reunite families with their pet.... just have it checked regularly!
