Deity Animal Rescue and Foundation

Deity Animal Rescue and Foundation Deity Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit rescue organization based in Los Angeles. Dogs saved her so it’s only right that she save dogs.

It is our passion and mission to rescue, rehabilitate and place stray, neglected and shelter dogs into loving, responsible and committed homes. When bringing dogs into Deity we do not discriminate on age, breed or ease of placement. Rather, we choose dogs based on temperament and potential to be wonderful companions. We adhere to a comprehensive adoption process which includes finding the best pos

sible match for each dog and performing home checks. Our mission is to educate and empower people of all ages as to how they can make a difference in the lives of animals in their communities. We target the importance of pet sterilization, animal welfare, and why it is a good idea to adopt from a shelter or rescue rather than buy from a breeder.

Ellen rescued Vida, the first official Deity dog, in 2007. Lindsay joined Ellen in her efforts when a major health scare made her reevaluate life and the gift of health and happiness. Dogs served a key roll in her recovery and she strives to share the healing power of dogs with others.

You guys. Need to update you on our little Goldie. Surgery was a success and she did so well. Swipe to see the size of the alien that had been inhabiting her tiny and emaciated body. Wanted to update you on something else as well. A new not so great discovery. Upon further testing, it has been determined that our sweet girl is diabetic. In order to feed her body the insulin it so desperately needs, doc put a port in. You can see it in the top right of the pic of her incision. Foster mama already has her on a schedule and Goldie is eating well and healing. ❤️‍🩹

To every one of you who donated towards Goldie’s surgery, a huge heartfelt Thank You. We know it’s such a busy, often expensive time of the year. But once again, you guys made a Christmas miracle happen for a little granny who had just lost everything. 🙏✨

Rory in the shelter vs Rory out of the shelter for less than 24 hours.

He’s sick. You can see him coughing and huffing in his shelter video. He’s on antibiotics and they seem to be helping but as of now, Rory is contagious to other pets and in isolation at the vet. He has already made an incredible amount of progress and this holiday season is sure to be a very memorable one for him once he is out of the vet and into the loving arms of a foster or adopter. HE LOVES TO BE IN LOVING ARMS (see second video).

To apply to foster or adopt Rory, please visit the link in our bio.

Her owners dumped her at one of our county’s highest of k!ll shelters and told the officer at the intake window to “Euthanize her. She’s too old”. The shelter took her from them but didn’t do it immediately. She was networked and given a certain amount of days. And lo and behold, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. We saw this granny’s face and high tailed it to Lancaster. This precious treasure is now named Goldie. And she has a tennis ball sized stone inside of her that must come out. Immediately. Reaching out for even $5 to help us afford her surgery.

It is with the fullest heart we write. Sweetest boy Abel landed himself into the foster arms of and . Within what felt like a mere heartbeat - all of that changed as they realized there was absolutely no way that they were ever letting him go. Belen and Alejandro fell deep in love and just like that, Abel became Vinnie, and will be spending the rest of his days cuddled on the sofa with his dad, covered in a blanket by the fire by his mom and taking strolls on the beach with both.

We could not be more thrilled for our boy. Happy Life sweet Vinnie! We ♥️ you!

Hers was a face we couldn’t unsee. A stray dog locked up in a county shelter whose time was up. We met her at her kennel where she greeted us with a soft gaze, gentle demeanor and an open heart. We witnessed her in the shelter playgroups being courteous and respectful. Leaving her behind to succumb to the cruel reality of our county shelter system was just not an option. Walking her to Freedom and experiencing her gratitude the entire car ride back to Los Angeles is a cherished honor. And you know what? For every second since Cinderella has worn her thankful heart on her softest velvet sleeve and has never once let us forget it.

Asking you guys for a favor. Please, drop a 🩷 and use your magic powers to help get Cinder seen. And adopted. It is your comments that propel her through Instagram’s oppressive algorithm. We know her future fam is out there and cannot wait for these kisses. She’s so deserving of it all. Pacific Northwest, our girl is currently residing in Portland, Oregon, with her foster mama, but she doesn’t need to stay there. We are all about wanderlust, a good love story and making s**t happen.

Cinder is three-years-old and 65 pounds. She’s so sweet, well trained, active and has an infectious joy about being alive. Link to adoption applications in our bio.

Bailey is on the mend ❤️‍🩹 scroll for before and after shots!! His first stop (after an in and out puppy patty) was the vet. He had a giant (like grapefruit sized) mass originating from his throat that had to go. Right away. He was referred to a specialist where he got ultrasounds, X-rays, blood work, and ultimately a delicate surgery to safely remove the mass with precision and expertise- it spanned from the corner of his jaw to the middle of his throat. Thank goodness no major organs were enmeshed in the growth.

The first test result was a giant relief. It pointed to a ruptured cyst- and it’s rare for this type of the growth to be cancer. We are still sending of mass out for biopsy to be sure, but we let out a deep breath with this information.

Next, was surgery. Bailey greeted every single Dr and nurse with a wagging tail and a happy face. And he pranced himself right into their arms as they took him back for his life changing procedure. In addition to removing the mass (we will spare you the photos but you must know, it was giant and came out in one piece), he had a deep dental cleaning and one tooth was extracted. Last night he slept off the anesthesia- but today, Bailey is a new man.

It’s good news. The pathology report came back on Berenice’s masses. They were a form of skin cancer, but they were removed “with good margins” and therefore the surgery was “curative”. Doc opted out of spaying her though, as she was still in heat, so there will need to be another surgery to do that and to remove a couple of other smaller masses.

In the meantime, our girl came down with a nasty upper respiratory infection and is currently on antibiotics. She just cannot catch a break.

Berenice is now looking for her Forever Home. According to her foster mama , she’s the perfect roommate. She loves to cuddle and does just fine when home alone. She loves lying outside, going on walks and eating… she’s definitely a true foodie. Berenice would prefer to be the only dog in the home and says “thank you very much” for trying to make that happen.

Berenice is a perfect ten - year - old, 65 pound blessing to the world. Guys please drop a 🩷 to get her seen. It is your comments that get her out in front of this uber frustrating and truly oppressive algorithm thing. Basically you guys are her secret weapon. Please stand up for this velvet angel and work your magic. ✨✨✨

The cancer is gone. And so are her ears, as well as a few lymph nodes. And still she trots on her bionic legs with a tail that never stops wagging. Willie. Our purest of heart, incredible warrior. The girl who brings thousands of smiles combined with intermittent tears every time she is faced with some kind of medical hardship that requires her to have surgery again. And to heal. Again. There is no amount of pain that breaks her spirit. There is no amount of bulls**t she is dealt that breaks her stride.

Willie. You are just as beautiful now as the day we first saw your face. You are just as beautiful now as when mama bid you adieu at the hospital yesterday morning. Even more so. Because now, the first things we see are your kind, shining, soulful eyes and that wet nose that used to have polka dots on it when you were a puppy. All I wanna do is grab you and kiss your face. All over. We all do.

You’ve conquered adversity your entire life sweet girl. Right now is no different. F*CK CANCER. Willie. You’ve got this.

Her ears and lymph nodes were sent out for pathology. We will keep you posted.

10/18/2024

She’s only five-years-old and has already been faced with so much. And now she has been diagnosed with high grade Mast Cell cancer. On both of her ears. Many of you may remember Willie. She was born with major bone and ligament deformities. In 2019 she was eight-weeks-old when we rescued her from the overflowing Barstow shelter where she was being trampled by larger dogs in the kennel. Foster mama - turned Forever mama met her when she arrived in Los Angeles and took her home to live with sister Puka and tortoise Larry. Willie has been through so many tests, procedures, surgeries and recoveries in her short life.

And now this. Her doc has determined that her best chance for survival is to amputate both of her ears. That should get rid of the cancer “with large margins”. Today Willie spent the day at taking so many tests. Full body X-rays, lymph node, liver and spleen aspirates, a cervical ultrasound, full blood panel. Just to see if the cancer has already metastasized anywhere. Still waiting on a couple of tests to come back but so far it’s just her ears.

When we rescued Willie we made a promise to her and to Christine that she would remain a Deity Dog for life. Our incredible, brave, stoic, resilient Angel needs us. Again. With urgency. Reaching out for even $5 towards Willie’s medical. We can’t fail our warrior girl now. Not after all she’s overcome.

I’ve also started a fundraiser in Willie’s honor.
Putting her estimates in our stories with so much more.

If I’m being honest, I’m crumbling inside. Crumbling for Willie. She doesn’t deserve this. She doesn’t deserve any more surgeries. She is the purest, sweetest of hearts. And her ears are everything on this world that is right. But I’m also in pieces for Christine. Last year losing Puka. An absolutely incomprehensible loss. And now this. Asking the Universe in the most specific of asks to please allow Willie to live out her life to its fullest. It needs to be.

We know Christine is asking Puka to take care of her little sister. And so are we.✨

Go Wille. Go.
And Christine, thank you. To ♾️🩷

10/17/2024

Her day started early this morning with a trip to the Veterinary Care Center in Hollywood. That mass had been bleeding all night and her doc did not waste anymore time. Surgery happened today. Those hideous tumors were removed and sent out for pathology.

There’s one thing that we learned today that is absolutely soul crushing. Berenice has had multiple C-section surgeries performed on her. Doc found multiple scars. Proof that her life has been spent being forced to be impregnated and breed by the hands of her ex “greeder” of an owner. Berenice has been a literal baby making machine. A cash cow for a human who used her then threw her ailing body away. The disdain, anger and heartbreak I feel literally makes me sick.

The good news. Tonight she’s sleeping it off with foster mama . Swipe to the last photo to see. She walked into the house, that’s where she laid herself, and that’s where she has stayed.

Berenice is so loved by you guys and for that we are so grateful. To those of you who helped her - thank you for making this surgery possible.

Praying for a benign pathology report. Please drop a 🩷 or a ✨ and join us.

10/15/2024

She can’t catch a break. Last night we were back at the Emergency Vet at with Berenice. One of the masses on her abdomen started to bleed pretty good. Doc says that it and the others need to come off. Swipe to see the culprits. She mentioned that they could be mast cell, other types of cancer - or benign. Praying praying praying. ✨

Today’s X-rays did NOT show anything in her lungs. YESSSSS. Surgery will be scheduled ASAP. Not gonna waste any more time. Yeah, recovery could be a bit more intense after her recent heat, but the masses have changed even since we rescued her last week. Time for them to GO. It’s also time for her to be spayed to prevent more babies and a future potentially fatal pyometra.

A huge thank you to Berenice’s fairy godmother for picking her up and taking her to the hospital at 5pm on a Sunday eve. We love and appreciate you and your dedication beyond words. And clearly Berenice does too, as visible in this first video. You guys. This girl. She’s freakin’ MAGIC. She’s all that’s good in this world. She’s our inspiration and our obsession.

Berenice 🩷

Stay tuned.

She’s adoptable. And fosterable. Is that even a word? Whatever. You get my point. Storm is currently living in the home of our trainers so you know she’s getting the best in training. And is there anything better than a well trained shepherd mix? She’s so smart. She’s sweet. She’ll be your adventure partner. But if you ask her what she wants to be the mostest in this word? She wants to be loved. She wants to be adored. She wants to connect with that one special human who sees the kindness and beauty in her. The one who makes her a part of their family. The one who won’t ever even consider dumping her at an overcrowded shelter. She wants to be someone’s Best Friend. And she’s perfect for the role.

Guys, Storm needs a home. She’s been with us for months now. Another one of those pups who is just so adoptable but overlooked. Heartbreaking.

Another truth. We pay for Storm to stay with our trainers. And it ain’t cheap. Just thinking of the new dogs those dollars could save if she were in a Foster or Forever home… 😩

There. I said it.

Please drop a 🩷 for Storm. Your comments are what will get her seen over this crazy algorithm. Your comments could potentially put her face in front of her new Best Friend. You are her secret weapon.✨

It’s been a rough 24 hours for Berenice. But, in true Dream Girl fashion, she’s handled it like the brave, stoic sweetheart that she is. Even with doc and a tech poking and prodding her in painful open wounds, our girl trusted and accepted the necessary help. Surgery happened around 11pm. Post operation it was determined that she needed to spend the night there for observation. Her foster dad picked her up this morning, and her new, temporary foster came to scoop her and take her home. Tonight she sleeps with Auntie Johanna - where it’s just the two of them. But we are still hustling to find a committed foster, one with no other animals. Because at this point, that’s what Berenice deserves. Are you out there? Side note: This girl is a freakin’ gem. I’d bring her home in a heartbeat if I could. SHE’S THAT SPECIAL.

Ok now I need to say something to all of you. Last night we had an emergency. Last night we needed your help. Any by this morning you guys had covered her surgery like the badass fairy dog parents that you are. In awe. And so very thankful. 🙏✨

Again, Berenice needs a Foster and an Adopter. She’s 10 years old and should probably be the only pup in the house. She will be having surgery to remove mammary masses once she is through this heat. Manifesting a Forever home as wonderful as she is. 🏡💕

Sometimes accidents happen. This was definitely the case tonight. Berenice’s foster sister decided she wasn’t thrilled with her new housemate. The two got into it pretty badly and Berenice definitely lost. She has multiple bite wounds including one very severe one near her a**s that needs to be surgically repaired. Humbly reaching out for help with the $1200 - $1400 needed for her emergency expenses. Swipe to see estimate. Grateful. 🙏

Thank you to foster dad Caleb and Aliza for their quick response in getting our girl to the vet tonight.
