We hope this message finds you and your furry companions thriving. At The Collar Club and Collar & Comb Boutiques, your pets' safety and well-being are our foremost priorities. In line with this, we’d like to keep you informed about the spread of atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease (aCIRD), primarily occurring through direct contact with unvaccinated dogs in unsanitary, tightly confined and crowded spaces.

After consulting with our in-house medical team, we’ve gathered a list of best practices to protect your pet during this outbreak:

1. Keep vaccinations up-to-date, including Bordetella and Leptospirosis, with special attention paid to those with autoimmune deficiencies.

2. Avoid overnight boarding or public parks lacking sanitation measures and potentially unvaccinated patrons.

3. Only bring your pet to grooming facilities that DO NOT use cages or kennels.

4. Only choose daycares where you can personally and visually verify cleanliness and sanitation practices.

5. Verify health and hygiene practices with any and all pet service providers.

Keeping the above in mind, here are the proactive steps we are taking:

Collar & Comb Boutiques — Health-First Grooming Services

We maintain our commitment to safety by providing one-on-one attention in soundproof spa suites—no cages or kennels at any of our destinations. Our certified master groomers have over 10k hours of professional training from the American Kennel Association and already specialize in handling pets with diverse needs like PTSD, anxiety, physical ailments, and geriatric care. Taking precautions in the face of aCIRD is simply part of their everyday duty to you and your loves ones.

The Collar Club — Private Parks and Rec Access
With public parks an unsafe option, it’s important for us to maintain safe outdoor spaces for our members and their pets. We audit our vaccination records to ensure all pets are up to date, limit the number of pets in our members’ only dog parks, and conduct hourly cleaning as well as twice daily full sanitation routines. We have also doubled our cleaning regimen in order to maintain the highest standards of health and hygiene for all our guests.

NOTE: For the safety of your pets, we are now only accepting clients who are on a recurring booking basis with Collar & Comb. This ensures all pets are vetted, up-to-date vaccination status is verified, and hygiene is prioritized. (If you are NOT currently on a recurring plan with us, please do give us a call so you and your pet can maintain access to your services).

Neighborhood Fire Victims

Some of our neighbors have lost everything during the recent large structural fires at 4- apartment buildings between 7700-7768 W Hollywood Blvd, and and the art deco apartment that burnt today at 1601 N Martel Ave.

Since day one, Collar & Comb has been dedicated to being an exceptional steward of our community- we are offering free pet examinations, pet food, animal accessories like collars and leashes, grooming services, and refreshments to those affected by the recent local fires’ tragedy.

Residents directly affected by the fires may contact any of our stores to reserve your free services.
