Today we said goodbye to the first ASDHA foal born on the ranch. We are all feeling a bittersweet loss with a ton of pride for GSR's Sun Going Down "Aspen", finally finding his forever home with Jeff and Catherine. We can not stress how blessed we feel for this positive move for our Aspen and know he will be the absolute best partner for his new family. Aspen, like his Dad, really won over hearts with his lovable, goofy personality and well his gorgeous looks stand second to none. Good luck sweet boy and to Jeff and Catherine on this new chapter. Please have safe travels to your new home in New Hampshire.. can't wait for some gorgeous photos from you all while riding your gorgeous trails. Thank you both for choosing Aspen, he will be everything and more... He will always be hoof prints on our hearts...❤️

Immediate Employment Opportunity for the right individual: Looking for reliable mature individual for ranch work. Will require lifting heavy bales and feed bags, cleaning and maintaining ranch, feeding and caring for horses. Must have own reliable transportation. Experience with feeding, handling horses IS a mandatory required, need to be comfortable around all sizes and ages of horses (minis to drafts) and stallions. AM shift 7-7:30 AM to 2 2:30PM - PM shift (12:30PM to 6:30PM) and Weekend day (AM & PM shift) will be mandatory. This is not a riding or training position. Must be confident about noticing issues with horses and must be comfortable working alone.
Possibly up to 30 to 40 hours. There are no living accommodations offered or available for this position. Working Interview will be required. References will be checked. Must be fluent in English. Beverly Hills, Florida.

Super late in announcing this one. Everyone meet our new Lil big man, "Hickory", he had a perfect birth and is doing super well. Out of our clydesdale mare Cey's Melanie and by It's Going Down... Hickory is a huge foal and did have some minor issues with getting up on his own at first. But he is making up for that now. I expect he will surpass his sires 17.2 hands pretty easy. He is full brother to our Spruce. I will add new photos tomorrow, but here are a few from the first couple days..

We would like to introduce our first Sapling of the year - "Rowan" (still working on reg. Name). This large handsome c**t made his appearance at 6:20pm 1/28/24. He is just a gorgeous and sweet guy. With a light dusting of tiny snowflakes across his rump. Out of RTD's SweeterThanSweet and by It's Going Down. He is going to be a big boy. Will be registered ASHDA and SSB.

HOW MUCH FOR A FOAL? Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who sends a text to just ask for the price. The person who calls and hears the price and says “I can buy a cheaper foal somewhere else”. I'll talk to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want “just a pet and trail horse to raise”. No foal is “just a pet and trail horse”. Behind every purebred foal is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to distinguish a breeder from an animal factory for lack of a better word. A serious breeder does not breed foals without documents that protect the integrity of the breed. Registration papers are records of ancestry documenting the bloodline and enabling you to investigate possible health problems in your lineage. When you tell a breeder you don't care about the papers, just tell them you don't care about the foal’s health, you just want the cheapest thing you can find! If you choose to buy a foal from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for every foal’s health. This breeder will skip vacations, miss sleep, and most of their personal time is dedicated to their horses and their well being. The truly passionate breeder, who loves what they breed, puts all of their time into it. Not only for foals that are sold, but also for every customer who owns a piece of their heart and is now a member of their large family. Breeders worry about their babies after leaving and will take them back without question. A breeder will get his hands dirty, often covered in everything that comes with birth. Because that's what life is all about... in the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps spinning. A breeder conducts ultrasounds, analytics, emergency vet calls, vaccinations, registrations, researches pedigrees, deworming, hoof trims and provides the base start for the future of the foal in handling, trailering and bathing.
