Look who we took in tonight. They were trapped in Lynn. We hear there is another one and of course mom. They are living in a garage. They are hissy, spitty, and afraid but they are so young, they will be friendly very soon. ( no applications yet please). They need to grow, gain weight and be socialized. We are on it!
Reggie, who has been fearful for months ( and rumors of a bite) climbed onto the sofa tonight and is purring. It was a long road but we are so happy for his adopter who put the time into rescuing this young cat. He will have such a good life now.

Update: Tux is starting to warm up to us. He is eating, purring and enjoys petting. He still hides under the bed when we let him out, so we are working on his feeling safe and comfortable. He will be available for adoption next week.
Today, we took in Tux. He is an 8 year old boy who is accused of playing rough with ankles (just a couple of times, but his elderly owner had to go to the doctor). We will see how he responds to our new environment. Behave Tux!
Harry was found, due to his microchip, 10 miles from home at Logan airport. He was lost for about a month. Welcome home Harry.

Update: Unfortunately, this is not one of our happy ending stories. Stripey had a necrotic tumor and the vet advised he was not comfortable and should be humanely put down. We are glad he will not be in pain anymore.
Stripey is off to the ER with a mouth infection. None of the local vets have time for a feral cat, dental today (not a quick project). Think good thoughts for Stripey.
Clementines kittens are growing strong! She is still in our foster home but will go to Cape Ann animal aid when they are big enough to leave mom. She looks alot more cozy than when she was living in the dirt under a porch.
We found this seagull face down in the ocean tonight. He was lifting his head to breathe and putting it back down under the water. We lifted him out of the water to find his beak and feet attached by a large fishing lure. A talented, kind hearted young man with wire cutters spent a long time removing the lure. After not finding any resources for birds after 8 pm, we released him to a deep grass beach area. Think good thoughts for his recovery.
Update: estimated to be about 8 months old, his nails had curled and grown through his foot. They were removed this morning. He can walk straight again. See nails in comments
We took this handsome dude in tonight. He has ingrown, infected, sore toe nails in his feet. He will see a vet in the morning.
We just picked up this 6 week old kitten someone heard crying under a car. He needs to gain weight but is playful and purring. If you have a friendly kitten in need of a playmate, please let us know. We named him Baghera.

Meet Donut!
A local rescue, Donut is an approximately 18 month old female brown tabby, recently spayed. She had 3 litters of kittens prior to being spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, and is super sweet and cuddly! Donut loves playing with toys, especially wand toys with you. She would do best as a single cat, but she is warming up to other cats and dogs.
All her kittens have found homes, and now it's her turn! If you are interested in adopting Donut, please email [email protected].
Update: Taquito has a heart murmur so he must see a cardiologist before he can have a dental and ear surgery. Cape Ann shelter is going to assist with him. They estimate Taquito to be about 10 years old. He still sleeps most of the time. He only wakes to eat.
Update: it must feel good to not be bitten by fleas. We removed 100+ fleas off of him. He is happy and purring.
Update: He is sleeping on the pillows. We treated him with dewormer and Revolution for ear mites and fleas. He will see the vet on Wednesday.
We picked up Taquito, this friendly boy at 7-11 in Lynn. He has been living there for about a week or more. His ears are badly damaged.
The foster person is having trouble letting go of this handsome boy. We will update you, but it seems he is not available for now.
Chili is a giant hunk of an orange boy in a 1.5 year old body. A smart and communicative guy, he wants nothing more than to be in a room with his favorite human, often snuggling up in their lap. If you're looking for an A+ cuddly ginger shadow, this could be your guy.
Chili would prefer a quieter household, and his wish would be for someone that is home a lot. Older kids are okay, but he gets scared of the quick noisy movements of young ones. He would do well as a solo cat, or in a house with female cats, but seems to have issues with male cats. Untested with dogs, but would likely do okay with cat-savvy dogs that would ignore him.
He's a guy with big feelings that had a rough first year of his life, and needs an experienced or patient cat person who can help him through what will likely be a scary transition to a new home. He gets spicy when scared, and just needs to be allowed time to get used to new surroundings before he can really open up to you. But once he does, oh boy are you in for a treat, because he falls in LOVE.
(In fact, his foster is heartbroken over not being able to keep him, as he doesn't get along with their resident boy cat. He has truly come miles with his last months in foster, and has proven to be a sweetheart.)
Otherwise, he's a picky eater (Royal Canin crunchies, please!) who doesn't even like lickable treats, but doesn't have any mischief kitty habits - he doesn't care about house plants, is a perfect litter box user, and will leave your furniture alone as long as he has a scratching post. These 11-12 week old kittens went to Cape Ann Animal Aid today in Gloucester for their vetting and adoption. The shelter is happy to receive happy, healthy kittens from us and we appreciate their assistance. The kittens can be separated. Update: five kittens were born this morning at our foster home. We will send pictures asap. Update: she is just a pregnant kitten. She must have been frightened in the streets as now she wants to be everyone’s friend. This one is almost too easy. Last night she was growling and striking. After an hour together this morning , she is relaxed. See the before video in the comments.

Papa is enjoying his giving Tuesday toys. Thank you to all who donate. Papa has had a remarkable transformation this week and is scheduled to be adopted on Monday.

Bella was surrendered to us by a home owner. She is used to the good life. (The orange kitty is not available, but we have more!) Bella is a black, female, short-haired kitten, 9 months old in need of a home. This sleek beauty has the energy and affectionate nature to be a fine family pet, possibly with school-aged children. We have been working around the clock to keep little Pierre going. He is gaining weight but he is about half the weight of his siblings. He cries when he hears our voice for a meal. He nurses from his mom but not sure what is going on there. He is doing really well. He plays with everyone and they all love each other. No more upper respiratory infections and only one case of conjunctivitis left. We love them all. J
Pedro, not so tough guy from the parking lot, is enjoying life in his foster home. He has discovered hair elastics, so much fun!
Pedro update (the kitty from the feeding station): "Although he feels the need to maintain his tough alley cat image (he alternately meows and hisses) and is a little unsure of having his back scratched, he certainly loves his head bumps and pets." J
