Did you know? 💡
Over 300 dogs were involved in the search and rescue efforts of 9/11. 🏙️

Ricky and Thunder, from Washington state, were two of those assisting in the rescue and recovery efforts. Ricky, a 2 year old Rat Terrier with his handler Janet Linker who worked for the Seattle Fire Department, proved extra helpful at squeezing into small spaces nothing else could reach.

Thunder, a 5 year old Golden Retriever with his handler Kent Olson from Lakewood, had previously only had experience with drownings and avalanches. They worked side by side, and Thunder would lie down as a confirmation signal of Ricky’s findings.

In addition to locating the remains of many victims, they were able to find personal items to be returned to their loved ones. ❤️‍🩹

Remembering all of those affected, and those who assisted in heroic efforts, today and every day. 🇺🇸
