What is this new respiratory illness I am hearing about on the news?

We are aware of a recent increased number of canine respiratory cases that are not responding to antibiotic treatment. At this time, we suspect Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) is the underlying cause. At our practices in Wisconsin, we have confirmed CIV as the cause in multiple dogs.

In recent months, large groups of dogs have become affected with coughing, fever, pneumonia, and in rare cases, death from respiratory failure. These viruses and bacteria spread easily dog to dog in confined areas such as grooming parlors, doggie daycares, and dog events. This spreads through coughing, sneezing, barking, shared water and food dishes, and likely on humans clothing, hands, and shoes.

GCHS Timberblacs Divine Spirit from Valhala is exiting the show ring with an amazing record climb to Silver GCH at just 2 years old.
Her first weekend out was a major win last January.
She will be back but going on for now to field training and getting to know about the birds.

Current studies on DCM verify nutrition info we send home in your puppy packets… “the problem is linked to the addition of peas, lentils, beans, potatoes, and sweet potatoes to the dog’s diet”. “If these ingredients appear in the top ten listed in its recipe, it is a high-risk food that could lead to DCM.”

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Tia and remember her antics over these (almost) 13 yrs. GCH Amer/Can CH SR Butterblac Captivating Riddler JH WC DN April 9, 2010 - March 30-2023
She was a focused girl in the field, got dozens of kudos when she nailed two days at an HRC weekend at 11-1/2 and kept the kids in line here at home. Tia was a devoted mama and continued to care for puppies here as if they were hers. Tennis balls were all hers, and she loved a boat ride to take in the view. We will miss you sweet girl.

We were thrilled to see our Rune place BOS in Louisville, KY today. CH Timberblacs Divine Spirit From Valhala, as Ice takes Best of Breed, GCHS Swallowsflight Icecool Cyclone CGC DJ MH WCX. This FCR supported show drew a huge entry of 21 dogs, 11 bi***es and I couldn't be more proud of how the kids showed their stuff today.

Pictures just in… 16 month old Fletch, CH Timberblacs Reign of Valor from Valhala, took Best of Breed this week in “sunny” Florida. Sister Rune has been adding up some points for her CH (pictures yet to come).
