The Inyo County Animal shelter is located at the west end of County Rd. in Big Pine, CA.

Social Media Content Management Policy:
The intended purpose of the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office social media sites is to serve as a communication mechanism between ICSO and members of the public. Therefore, information, posts, and comments containing any of the following forms of content is prohibited. a) Profane language or content

Posts found with any of the above-mentioned content violations, shall be deleted; and if the problem persists the sender will be blocked. The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office disclaims any and all responsibility and liability for any material or content that the ICSO deems inappropriate for posting. The ICSO shall make efforts to remove said material in an expeditious and timely manner, but disclaims liability if circumstances exist that prevent or hinder efforts to remove said materials. Sage is a young mother, under a year old herself, and weighing in at 21 lbs of enthusiastic lovebug. Sage is eager to meet her new human family- she knows how to lay on the charm.

If little Sage fits into your life, come meet her sooner rather than later! This little cutie is going to be popular!

Her litter of 4 puppies are also available, approximately 9 weeks old and just as full of happy wiggles as their mother.

As we approach the 4th of July festivities, the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office would like to kindly remind all residents to take extra precautions to safeguard your property and ensure your pets are safe and secure. Due to current circumstances, the Inyo County Animal Shelter is at MAXIMUM CAPACITY and is unable to accept any new animals at this time.

We are diligently working to find loving homes for the pets currently in our care. If you come across a lost animal, please share the information on social media to help reunite it with its owner.

The Big Pine shelter is once again packed to overflowing with some truly fantastic dogs and cats (and a lone rabbit) available for adoption! Please come down to meet them!

We are working on getting some pictures posted. There are a lot of new faces down here in need of loving homes.

Hello, Inyo! We've been extra swamped lately, so please forgive the lack of updates. We're working to get caught up.

In the meantime, we're short a team member and need a little extra time this week to tackle some big projects. The shelter will be closed to the public this coming Thursday, June 20th.

We will, however, have a representative sitting in at Bishop Vet for their low-cost vaccine clinics on Thursday between 9 am and 4 pm this week to assist any pet owners who need to license their dogs.

The shelter will be open again for business as usual on Friday, June 21. Thank you for your understanding!

We had a great time at Pride, Day 1! The pups soaked up the love and the sunshine, and played in the grass like the absolute clowns they are. We’ll be back tomorrow, same spot, noon to 2pm.

What is it going to take to help Drako find his forever home??

Drako is a model citizen at the shelter even though he has been with us quite a while. He is mellow, he is sweet, he is handsome. He was a perfect gentleman and lovebug at last week's Tailwaggers adoption event, but we didn't get any potential adopters interested in making him part of their family.

He's a favorite among the staff down here for countless reasons- we can't say enough good things about this great dog.

Please consider adopting Drako. If you aren't in a position to adopt right now, please spread the word to any great pet homes you know! Hopefully with enough networking, we can all work together to find Drako his perfect new family!
