There are so many benefits to doggy daycare, besides the cute photos you'll receive from your pet's report card that are at the end of the day. ❤️

Another day, another Employee Appreciation Post! Today, we celebrate Tori! 🐾
Tori is one of our newer grooming additions, but you probably remember her working with us a few years ago as well. She just couldn't stay away from us for long. 🤷♀️
Her years of experience and kind heart has always made her the perfect addition to our team, and even though her primary position right now is in the groom shop while Kaylyn heals from a recent injury, her additional experience in management and human resources will make her an important asset to our facility as we grow and expand in the years to come!
We will never be able to express our gratitude for Tori and all she does for the animals and people here at Far Fetched, and we are so thankful she found her home here with us. ❤

At long last, we can finally announce one of our most exciting surprises to date!
Introducing Ruby's Special OPS , a passion project of ours that is dedicated to advocating against the number one threat to animal overpopulation in our area, a lack of easy access to low cost veterinarian care for many animal owners that results in a larger pet population.
By partnering with other local rescue groups and veterinary professionals, Ruby's Special OPS plans to create better opportunities for animals in our region to receive the veterinary care they need, particularly spaying and neutering. In doing so, Secret Agent Ruby will help to reduce our overcrowded shelters, help local animal rescues place healthy pets into forever homes, and help current pet owners access spay and neuter programs at reduced costs and complete her mission we like to refer to as "Operation Prevent Strays".
We invite you to follow along our journey and help us complete our mission by joining our page to stay up to date on rescue opportunities, fundraising events, and updates of our journey! We can't do this alone!

Today, we are hijacking the Far Fetched socials to write a special appreciation post for a valued employee, our owner and lead groomer, Kaylyn Laws.
Where would be without the little girl that once dove from her mother’s moving vehicle to run across four lanes of oncoming traffic to rescue the kitten she saw in the median? We should have known then that her future was with animals. That little girl grew up and trained for years to become an amazing Groomer before she took a chance on herself and opened a tiny little groom shop where her business began. She quickly grew to need employees, and soon after launched an expansion with a vision to create the premiere pet services facility in Southwest Virginia.
And despite new babies, broken bones, and more, nothing has distracted her from that vision. What many don’t see past all the obvious hard work, achievement, and accolades is the love and care for animals and her human customers that she puts in behind the scenes. The photos below show her in so many ways behind the scenes.

When your animals come to Far Fetched, I guarantee you they are walking into one of the best facilities in our region; not because I am her mother, but because I can tell you that she pours her heart, soul, energy, blood, sweat, and even tears into this place every day. Kaylyn has worked hard to build an amazing team of animal care specialists that support her culture of professionalism, personal growth, education, safety, and exceptional care.

Haley, today's Employee Appreciation post recipient is our Grooming Apprentice who applied for a position at Far Fetched after deciding to start a Pet Grooming education course on her own time through the Animal Behavioral College. 🐾
Haley has very quickly taken her online education and put it to practice by stepping in to help with anything we ask of her in the groomshop, from prep-work to comforting the nervous clients. She has worked very hard to improve her skills and learn the trade in such a short amount of time working with us and has a heart for animals. We are so thankful to have had her find us! ❤

Today's Employee Appreciation post is an extra special one because we are also using this post to celebrate Parker's 1 year anniversary with us here at Far Fetched! 🐾
Parker is one of our boarding & daycare assistants and is one of the largest contributors to keeping our facilities clean and sanitized at all hours of the day! Parker works very hard to make sure every pet in our care has everything they need to have a happy, healthy, and restful visit with us while using any downtime he gets to comfort the nervous pets and spends extra time with the loveable ones.
We are so thankful for Parker and everything he does for our facility! Help us wish him a happy 1 year Far Fetched anniversary! 🎉

Angela previously worked at an animal care facility in another state before moving here, and after finding our facility, she had her heart set on joining the Far Fetched family! Angela is always willing to step in and help with anything and anyone who needs it, and never asks anything in return. She loves each pet like they were her own and makes it her personal goal to give each and every one of them her undivided love and attention.

Tori is the first of our multi-positional employees to be featured on our Employee Appreciation series and, as you can tell by the image we chose, multi-tasking is absolutely crucial when there is so much work to be done in pet caregiving. 🐾
With her history in animal rescue, it's no secret that Tori has a special place in her heart for giving animals the best care possible, but this hard working gal has reached across the entirety of our service offerings in the short time she's been with us at Far Fetched.

Sidney came to us with previous experience at a corporate grooming salon, and has had to adjust her grooming style from fast paced and quantity pressured world of corporate grooming to the way Far Fetched does things... pet comfort oriented, quality grooming.
We have been so excited to watch Sidney grow as a groomer so much since coming to us and are so excited to see her continue to excel! ❤️

Sierra has been our longest standing employee at 2 years and her love and passion for this business brings such joy to our hearts. ❤️
Sierra and her almost 8 years of grooming experience made her the perfect fit for our Grooming Supervisor position and she continually takes advantage of our education programs including attending grooming expos and trade shows, online seminars and certification programs and many self-improvement education opportunities.
Her heart for animals spans as far as her passion for their well-being, and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team. ❤️

Continuing from a few weeks ago with our Staff Appreciation Series: our Boarding & Daycare Supervisor, Autumn, is definitely one of the crucially important members that keep things running smoothly around Far Fetched PetQuarters. 🐾
Autumn came to us with restaurant management experience and a passion for working with animals that has made her an AMAZING addition to our team. She is always quick to step in and step up, no matter the ask, and pours her heart into every project and event we host and participate in. In Autumn's free time, she volunteers with the Animal Shelter and helps transport animals for the Margaret Mitchell Clinic and to help transfer shelter animals to rescue organizations that help place them in homes.
She has been such a blessing to Far Fetched and we can't wait to see where her future takes her! 🐾
P. S. She's done all of this while expecting her very first little one in October, and we couldn't be more excited for another Far Fetched baby! 🍼

It's Far Fetched Friday, and the perfect opportunity for us to continue with our regularly scheduled announcement series after taking a brief hiatus! 🥏🐾
Our Ruby's Room Specialty Suite has consistently been our most popular option for boarding since our expansion 2 years ago. This suite branches beyond your typical boarding set up with special amenities for your pet to feel much more at home while they're with us. With two toddler beds, a window, a personal television complete with LED light accents, and adorably decorated walls, this suite serves as an upgraded experience for pets who want a private quarters with more room to relax and play. As our boarding and daycare operations have continually expanded, we have seen a desperate need to increase the amount of space we have to work with in order to continue providing safe and efficient care for the pets we host.
These things considered, and as some of you have guessed, we are in the midst of a GRAND expansion and are BEYOND excited to announce that we will soon have a total of 5 themed specialty suites, all named after a few of the rescue animals that play such an important part in owner Kaylyn's lifelong love of animals. ❤️

🐾 The National Dog Groomers Association of America - For over 52 years the association has worked with groomers throughout the world promoting and encouraging professionalism and education in order to upgrade the image of the pet grooming profession. Their goal is to unite groomers through membership, to promote communication with colleagues, to set recognized grooming standards and to offer those seeking a higher level of professional recognition the opportunity to have their grooming skills certified.
🐾The International Boarding and Pet Services Association - committed to fostering excellence and promoting the highest standards within the global boarding and pet services industry. Through collaboration, innovation, and ethical practices, IBPSA endeavors to elevate the quality of care provided to pets, support the growth and success of businesses, and ensure the trust and satisfaction of pet owners worldwide.
🐾 In addition to these, employees and leadership of Far Fetched are encouraged to continue their education through online courses and seminars as well as visiting Expo Shows and Conferences.
🐾 We are also proud members of the Gap Partnership and the Wise County/City of Norton Chamber of Commerce, two committees dedicated to advancing and publicizing the commercial, industrial, agricultural, civic, tourism and general business interests of Big Stone Gap, Wise County, and the City of Norton.
Our efforts to become the industry standard for Southwest Virginia pet care does not go without notice, as our head groomer and owner, Kaylyn Laws, has won 1st place in the Best of the Best for Pet Grooming in The Coalfield/The Post Reader's Choice Awards in both 2023 and 2024. Our facility was also recognized as one of the Best of Virginia's Pet Grooming facilities in the 2024 edition of Virginia Living's magazine.
We know, we know. We have a lot to be proud of as we are only nearly approaching our 3 Year Anniversary! This post is not only to brag on some of our proudest achievements, but to also deliver a very important message to pet owners, near and far.
This lack of law-enforced guidelines in our industry allows for too much room for danger and YOU are your pet's best advocate. You should be asking questions, you should be asking to see the facility, you should be asking what accreditations and certifications businesses have before trusting them to leave your pet with. In a world where anyone can say they are a pet care professional, make them prove what they've done to help our industry self-regulate to the offer best practices possible.

Now that the dust has settled on another amazing 4th of July Extravaganza, we want to extend our upmost gratitude to everyone who made our 3rd Annual 4th of July Pet Show the greatest one yet! 🇺🇸
We were able to raise a grand total of $1,461.50 for the Wise County Humane Society 501c3 Non Profit through People’s Choice Award donations and vendor donations combined with a matched amount given by Far Fetched PetQuarters! This is one of our favorite fundraising events of the year and we were so excited to see how many amazingly talented and sweet pets showed up to help us with such a worthy cause!

The Cluck Truck will be there at 5 PM to serve up chicken and fries, Three Forks Sandwich Co will be selling teas and lemonades, 404 Cafe & Creamery will be there with the ice cream cart , our friends at Bow Wow Bakery will have the best treats and animal products you can buy locally, the The Good Shepherd Dog Training will be on hand to discuss their programs, and representatives from PAWS of SWVA and Tri-State Animal Rescue will be there to judge our categories, show off some adoptable pups and kittens, and providing information and resources.
