Hello and welcome to the Two Cow Tribe. We are pursuing our dream of owning and developing a miniature cattle herd. Our property is located just outside of Big Timber, MT. We have lived here 3 years and are in continual awe of the Crazy Mountain range. We are growing our herd currently and plan to have calves for sale in the near future.
Besides you (our beloved Facebook follower)…..we have a tribe of other animals and humans at the Two Cow.
Matt: Matt is the quiet guy behind the scenes. He has been the driving force behind this endeavor. He is continually building things and fixing up the property and responsible for the daily duties. He too grew up in an agriculture setting near the Montana highline. He would like to appear all big and tough, but he is often spotted petting and caring for our animals. He also likes his privacy, so this is all you get 😊
Kaylee: Kaylee grew up on a farm and ranch in Eastern Montana. Although she decided to follow her passion in the medical field, you can’t take the country girl out of her. She is a pharmacist by day and will not be quitting her day job anytime soon. For those of you that already have a herd of animals, you know that it’s all about the love and not the money! Aside from cuddling these cows, her goals are to provide a little bit of “country living” for her girls, Greeley and Izzy. She feels that the farmers and ranchers of the world are some of the hardest working people on Earth and knows her upbringing instilled a strong work ethic and many valuable lifelong lessons.
Greeley: Greeley is a tenderhearted, yet fun-loving 9 year old. She has compassion and enthusiasm for all animals. This will be her first year in 4-H and she just can’t decide what animal(s) she wants to bring. We are teaching her where our food comes from and she’s preparing herself for owning market animals. She would LOVE to own a horse some day!
Izzy: Izzy is a spunky 6 year old and we don’t call her “busy Izzy” for nothing! She has started her first year of school this year. Izzy is often found outside with one of her parents working side by side them. She is a worker and a big help around our little farm. She wants to be riding one of our cows for our next family picture, but….we aren’t quite there yet.
Our Cows:
Theresa, Lilly, and Callie: Our Aberdeen lowlines. These animals are used for market and were our first cows that we purchased to get our feet wet with our little business. They each have their own personalities and we come to love them.
Pumpkin Pie: Our lovely miniature brindle highland cow. She was born 12/2013. She has matured at 40 inches tall. She has amazing hair! Best of all, she is PREGNANT (baby due in March/April 2019)! She is super curious and is typically the first cow to receive pets, scratches, and loves.
Fiona (#2) and Marilyn: Purchased 3/10/2019. These are beautiful purebred registered Highland beauties. They came from a loving family and we intend to continue spoiling them. Marilyn is blond, named after Marilyn Monroe and Fiona is red. They will eventually be bred to Koda when ready.
Cinnamon: Purchased 5/2019, Cinnamon is a high percentage highland micro mini heifer. She is approximately 20 months old and the smallest of our herd. She is super sweet and we recently halter broke her and Koda to walk in a parade. Let’s just say, the minis cows were a HIT!! Because she is so small, we feel that her and Koda will be a perfect match when the timing is right.
Our Bulls:
Koda: Koda is a bear-like miniature highland born on 6/3/2018. He is 87.5% Highland and is expected to mature around 38 inches tall. He is chondro positive, meaning he has a dominate gene to produce short legged (aka “mini”) offspring. He is becoming a real bruit with the “ladies” and he is gentle enough for our girls to walk out to pasture and pet.
Ragnar: Ragnar is a 4 year old HighPark bull approximately 42 inches tall. He is extremely striking in the field with his black and white features. He is a proven breeder with 100+ calves on the ground in MN. He has an excellent temperament and we are able to walk up to this mature bull in the pasture and pet without any hesitation. Chrondro test results pending.
The Dogs:
Daisy, is a 12 year old Weimaraner. She came into our lives when she was 10 years old and we are extremely blessed that her family chose us to keep her. She is extremely spoiled and well behaved. She is not sure about all her other furry “brothers and sisters,” but she is extremely tolerant and patient. Her human sisters are hers to protect and love. Every morning she is found sleeping with either Greeley or Izzy.
Poppy, the 1 year old Vizsla. Naughty, yet lovable. She is quite annoying to our cows, but they’ve learned to cohabitate. Poppy hopes one of those little calves will befriend her and they become playmates. We continue to work on Poppy’s manners and she recently graduated from Kinderbarken.
Other tribe members: Of course, a little farm wouldn’t be complete without cats and chickens. Our Lead Mouser is Mr. Sprinkles the cat. He is often found policing the hale bales by day and cuddling the humans at night.
