HEATWAVE....Or calm before the storm whichever it is I'm taking advantage of it. Getting some spring stuff done early since I'm laid off for the winter. Ground and raised nest boxes for everyone plus a few more partridge pens as well as getting some groups set up for breeding all together a productive day!

Just keep moving forward... This is what I tell myself when something good, bad, or indifferent happens. Which is what i was taught at the beginning you've gotta do when raising birds. Today is one of those good moments. A feeling of accomplishment. A feeling of fulfillment. This brooding shed has been planned in my head for going on 3 years now. Everytime id go to visit someone new or watch a video on YouTube of a tour, I'd always get new ideas, which is why this project took so long to come together. But I'm happy to say it finally has, still a couple final touches to do but I certainly and I can't wait to get this 2025 season going! Those few of you that might see a little bit of your own setups in mine I thank you for either inviting me and my wife to visit or inviting the necessary people in to document for all of us to see! Plus just a few of these past couple weeks additions and projects. I think im finally ready for 2025 breeding season 😆

With the holiday season finally over its time to start planning for arguably the greatest season of them all....SWAP SEASON!!! And to kick it all off like it does every year the Minnesota Game Breeders Club Spring swap is set to happen Friday February 14th from 4-8 PM for setup and Saturday February 15th doors open at 7 AM for the swap. Come and get yourself some new additions!

Put in a little work today on my brooding shed. Got row 1 framed for the most part just need to doors and wire in heaters for each one. Each brooder is about 18x18x12. With removable dividers for bigger hatches. Hoping these will help ease the mess as well as help get those touchy species up on there feet a little easier.

It's done! The shed is finally fully hooked up and heated. Now it's time finish the ceiling and to build some wire floored and some solid floored brooders along the one wall. Hoping to have 20+ go across the wall each with individual heaters and removable trays for cleaning. Plus a few pictures of the birds looking good! I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas!

First salvage of the year around 40 20 foot sheets perfect for next years projects. I urge everyone to post in your local groups you'd be surprised what people are getting rid of! Plus a few pictures from the chore loop today.

One thing I will say about snow it definitely helps when you're a visual thinker/planner. Spent my day yesterday and today putting together some thoughts on paper as well as on snow lol. Who else still draws things out? Few major projects in the works for next year. Shed expansion to accommodate 3 5×8 warm pens. With 3 5x10or12 outside runs as well as 4 more 4x8or10 grow outs because who DOESN'T need more space for baby birds?? Is it spring yet?😂😂

Winter is officially here. Snow is here to stay. Waterers are frozen. It's a fun time raising birds near the Canadian border! But everyone sure was looking good today! Dogs and all lol.

Hi everyone! For all those not knowing if they can handle caring for those animal additions this winter we here at Up North Exotic Birds are willing to take in those winter surrenders. Chickens/ducks/geese/quail. You name it if its got feathers we will take it. These birds will be used the help support our farm as well as some will be used to feed our family here. Feel free to shoot me a message and we can figure out drop off. I am located in Bigfork. Would much prefer drop-offs but would be willing to do a meet for larger amounts.
