Investing.

Im sure ive invested my fair share probably more than some and definitely less than others in this bird world. But It isn't just dollars and cents. It's investing in yourself. In the things you love. Investing your time and energy not for nothing but for your future. Money comes and goes no matter what. So why not put it towards your passions. Some people might think "all this for birds?" And my answer will always be yes! It's what I love. It brings me closer to friends. It gives me and the wife alone time away from the kids. Sure it has its downs but the positives outweigh the negatives by a long shot. So here's to the brooder house project taking another huge albeit expensive step towards being finished! Trench dug insulation and plastic up now it's onto the drywall and heater setup!

Stuff like this makes it all worth it. Be good to others and good shall come back onto you. A great repeat customer of mine took notice that I enjoy the "little" things in life and gifted me this house she personally built. Thank you for the awesome gift! Little farm update been a busy past few weeks between swaps,work,visiting family and getting ready for winter. 4000lbs of feed specially mixed up for me to hopefully get us through the first part of winter. Time to change over bowls for everything. Who knew you could spend $200+ just for bowls! Feels bittersweet to have all the kennels packed away for winter but it just means all the hard work and all the buying,selling,and moving of birds is done for the year. Im happy to say my wife and I will be attending the PAS Conference in February! I can't wait to meet all of you out east! If anyone is on the fence about going definitely make it a point to do so! Much to be learned from great individuals! Lastly some of these past few weeks additions settling in nicely. Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween 🎃

What you need to do is join all of us like minded people at the Minnesota Game Breeders Club. Membership to our clubs has its benefits.. Regular meetings to discuss birds/swaps as well as any issues facing birds as a whole or the club. Free admission to both spring and fall swaps. We also send out a newsletter with helpful and useful information as well as contacts to some of the best breeders in the USA. So no matter if you're just getting started or you're a veteran to raising birds come on down we'd love to have you!

*Long post here*

2 years. 2 years of blood sweat tears and HARD work. What started as a pipe dream has finally become a reality. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for my loving and supportive wife that's helped every step of the way weather that meant chores or helping build she was always there. And thanks goes out to those people that have given me the inspiration to do this from my multiple visits and countless questions you've all been nothing but helpful in this journey. So I can finally say it's DONE all 50 are in and I'm FINISHED. What a relief! Just in time for swap season!

Let's talk self sufficiency. This pallet of feed represents my attempt at exactly that. I told myself before getting into birds that at the bare minimum the feed bill needed to be paid BY THE BIRDS every month. Weather that meant saving during the busy season or saving every dollar that's made. It was a goal I wanted for this little adventure I got myself into. Don't get me wrong I put in my fair share of $$$+blood and or a few tears daily but in the end it's always worth it! If you've ever bought something from me thank you so much! Without all of you this wouldn't be possible Happy hatching folks!

Spent most of my day today sorting and cleaning. Got my bobwhites all sorted by color and set up for winter. And i also finally got around to worming everyone. Things finally seem to be slowing down here day by day. But always projects to be done!

It's not very much progress but it's something. Finally found a few hours this weekend to work on the last 4 large breeder pens. I know for me this time of year is tough to find the ambition and time to do things but these few hours helped get me back on track and lit the fire under me so to speak to hopefully get these along with 10 other pens done in the next month.
