Sea Otter pup squeals while being groomed by mom 🔊🦦\n\nThis sea otter mom faced the challenges of motherhood like a pro! She knew what was best for her pup: to groom first, then nurse. Knowing how important it is to keep her pup warm and buoyant, she continued grooming despite her pup’s cries. Finally, at the end, the pup got what it wanted…to nurse!\n\nIt was adorable to watch this mom groom, nurse and nurture her small pup. Sea otter moms not only spend a lot of time grooming their own fur, but also grooming their pup’s fur. Since sea otters have the densest fur of any animal (between 600,000 to 1,000,000 hair follicles per square inch!), they spend many hours per day conditioning their fur. This creates insulating air bubbles which trap air and heat close to their skin.
